This product covers the 2016 Virginia (VA) Standards of Learning (SOL) 3.16: The student will identify, describe, create, and extend patterns found in objects, pictures, numbers and tables. (note that this will also work for the 2023 VA SOL 3.PFA.1: The student will identify, describe, extend, and create increasing and decreasing patterns (limited to addition and subtraction of whole numbers), including those in context, using various representations.) It contains notes pages on identifying patterns, the different types of patterns, extending patterns, repeating patterns, growing (or increasing and decreasing) patterns, and table patterns. Students are asked to identify the rules, fill in missing numbers, or replicate patterns throughout the unit to build a better understanding of the topic.
