This comprehensive literature unit on scientific article analysis will turn your students from being passive readers into critical thinkers! True scientific literacy—being able to evaluate evidence critically—has become the most important skill of our time due to the overwhelming amount of information and misinformation in today’s society. This unit is a complete, no-prep 5-day lesson plan that will help students in middle and high school understand how to break down scientific articles. With this unit’s help, students will learn how to look at methodological procedures; how to find biases; how to tell the difference between correlation and causation; and how to develop evidence-based arguments—all of which are necessary for success in AP classes, as well as in college! This unit is appropriate for the following classes: Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics and as a cross-curricular project with ELA. This resource also correlates with the NGSS Science and Engineering Practices (Engaging in Argument Based on Evidence) and other Common Core Literacy standards. Included in this unit: 1. Educator & Student Master Guide (47 pgs) : Part 1 consists of an in-depth detailed core instructional guide for teachers on Scientific Reading Theory. Core principles and concepts included: IMRAD (scientific structure) ; Hierarchy of Evidence ; Identifying Fallacies Part 2 consists of constructing 10 scaffolded, grade level appropriate worksheets using High-Interest/Relevant scientific reading materials. Examples include: Anatomy of an Abstract Isolation of Variable and Control Critique Methodology Interpret Data & Statistical Literacy Correlation vs. Causation Identify Bias/Conflict of Interest Synthesize Competing Hypotheses Peer Review Simulation Part 3 consists of teacher support systems: 3 Visual Professional Anchor Charts/Posters (anatomy of a scientific argument, source credibility matrix, interrogating empirical graphics) Comprehensive Answer Key (all 10 worksheets) 5-Day Implementation/Teaching Plan: step-by-step plan to facilitate complete unit implementation successfully Will enable your students to read as scientists, question as reporters, and think as researchers; providing the necessary tools to assist in developing their confidence/skepticism towards the scientific world. How Parents and Schools Appreciate It: Teaches Skills for the 21st Century: Instead of teaching through rote memorization, this unit prepares students to learn to think critically. Students learn to use the problem-solving skills needed for success in college and their future career paths. Teaches Digital and Media Literacy: In this age of "fake news" and false claims, the unit provides students with tools to evaluate the credibility of scientific information they see online, including news headlines and social media posts. Prepares Students for Academic Challenge: The analytical skills that students develop (being able to analyze dense texts, understand research design, and base their opinion on credible evidence) give students a solid head-start into AP science classes and university studies. Comprehensive Teaching Tools for Teachers: The unit is a complete unit, and includes everything that teachers need to implement student learning. Each teacher will find all of the information and teaching materials necessary, along with a comprehensive teacher guide, ready-to-publish worksheets, visual aids, and answer key; which will save every teacher dozens of hours on the preparation and planning of each lesson. Audience: The Target Audience includes: Primary: Grades 8-12 Science (On Level); High School AP or Honors Biology; Chemistry; Environmental Science; Physics Secondary: Gifted or Advanced (Grades 6-7-Science), as the concepts may be difficult for Sixth-grade students who are not Advanced or Gifted; nevertheless, students classified as Advanced will do well. Cross-Curricular: High School ELA/ELA or Media Literacy planer interested in adding analysis of non-fictional/informational text to their plan. It is an unfortunate reality that one single leak of your passwords can lead to the theft of thousands of dollars from your savings account. It is also a frightening truth that your Smart TV can watch everything you do, and that Deepfake technology exists that is able to imitate your voice with ease. The above facts alone leave an overwhelming amount of people in a vulnerable position in relation to their personal digital security. This is the purpose of the 278-page "Digital Fear is Real" guide. This guide was created with the sole purpose of providing an in-depth, complete, and easy-to-understand reference tool for every aspect of your digital life. This tool covers everything, from passwords and mobile devices to social media, smart home technology, child safety issues, financial fraud, AI-driven threats, and estate planning. This guide goes beyond the typical frightening articles that do not provide real answers or to the overly technical books that require a computer science degree to understand. This book provides you with a complete step-by-step system that will allow you to protect yourself without having to spend a lot of time to achieve this goal. You'll Learn: * How to use password managers and passkeys * How to set up two-factor authentication to effectively stop hackers * How to secure your router and home network with six easy steps * How to protect your children from predators, cyber-bullying, and "sharing" * What you need to do to recover from identity theft and create an actionable recovery plan * How to install and use safe communication channels such as Signal, VPNs, Tor, and encrypted email * A 30-day privacy transformation plan to secure your digital world In addition to all the information contained in the guide, there are also many charts comparing different items, checklists, infographics, and a comprehensive appendix that contains a list of tools that every computer user needs to have. Why Parents (And Schools) are all in: Chapters Addressing the Child Safety Issues that Affect Parents and Adults in General, Including… Cyberbullying, online predators, sharenting, and children's digital footprint – all described in clear, no-nonsense, actionable terms. No Technical Experience Needed – These Chapters are written specifically for non-technical readers, with plenty of "common" language used in both chapters to facilitate understanding by teachers and parents who want to better protect their children from online dangers. Classroom and Family Resources Ready for Use – Each chapter is filled with checklists, comparison charts, infographics, and an overall 30 Day Action Plan that is great for either teaching curriculum or having family discussions at home. The Chapters Address Many of the Most Urgent Problems Facing Today's Children Including AI Voice Cloning, Deep Fakes, and TikTok Data Collection... so that they are prepared for whatever potential risk they may encounter this year. Create Lifelong Digital Citizens: Instead of merely providing a list of rules to abide by; through an ongoing mindset established throughout the children in their formative years/education process, parents will help their children learn to make thoughtful and responsible decisions independently of parents or other adults. Mathematics Binder Covers – Templates for Classroom Use Organize your Math handouts, notes, and units with visual clarity Simple and flexible templates to help organize your Mathematics materials In my math classes, it can be a challenge to keep things organized - especially when it comes to multiple units, lab notes, worksheets and review materials. To make it easier for my students and myself, I designed these simple binder sleeves. There are 12 different pages. The covers have a clean, colorful blob layout that is friendly but not distracting. I usually print them out and use them as cover sheets or as dividers in folders for students or teachers. They also work well for digital learning environments, e.g. as section covers in PDF files or on classroom platforms. I like that the color scheme allows students to quickly find what they are looking for, and it brings a little more structure to a subject that is often riddled with formulas and technical terms. When used as cover sheets, students can choose their favorite color for their cover sheet. This resource is handy - and has saved me a lot of time in lesson preparation and follow-up. What’s included: 12 math-themed cover pages different colors zu choose as a cover sheet as a divider between the individual Mathematics topics I've printed these on colored paper for my own binder and also used them digitally in student notebooks. Works well for both teacher organization and student-facing materials. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Math teacher (Chemistry teacher, Biology teacher) in Germany Did You Know? I teach with a certified therapy dog, and together we create a positive and inspiring learning environment. 🐶✨

The material progresses from simple, kid-friendly explanations using real-life analogies-such as recipes for data organization-to more sophisticated ideas, such as data skewness and mini data projects. Most of these lessons are inspired by television programs such as "Shark Tank." The project-based teaching approach encourages students to go beyond just theory to be more involved with critical thinking, financial literacy, and strategic planning to fully realize their opportunity to create a new business. Since we have worked hard to develop a professional and academic tone, students will be ready to continue in their education with college level courses or to start their career in business. Why Do Parents/Schools Appreciate It? Real World Skill Development; The curriculum focuses not only on theoretical knowledge but also emphasizes developing real-world skills that students will use throughout their future career paths (Financial, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Professional Communication). Students will also develop hands-on skills through the completion of projects and activities within the curriculum. Engagement And Project Based Learning; Rather than memorizing words and definitions, students will create projects that allow them to connect theory to practice. The "Shark Tank" format allows students to be creative and take responsibility for their own learning. All-Inclusive And Easy To Use; The curriculum includes: lesson plans, worksheets, visual aids, answer keys, pacing guides and rubrics. This saves teachers an enormous amount of time when they begin implementing the curriculum. Preparation For Future College And Career Paths; The use of professional terminology and the curriculum content aligns with the expectations of colleges and universities, and prepares students for their future career path. All Learning Styles Are Accommodated; All students have a chance to get engaged in learning activities using differentiated strategies that provide support for all learners (struggling and advanced) to be engaged in meaningful learning and challenged at their appropriate level. The target audience for the Student Classes is Urban youth (ages 11-21) who are predominantly from lower-income households, and may possess limited life experience with regards to words. These individuals also have a higher likelihood of becoming entrepreneurs as a result of participating in activities that support entrepreneurship, such as an Entrepreneurship Program, or other business education opportunities. This presents a great opportunity for students enrolled in high school and post-secondary to gain knowledge about entrepreneurship as well as develop the skills necessary to become successful entrepreneurs through exposure, exposure to real-world applications and experiences, and actively participating in entrepreneurial-related programs. Our ultimate goal is to create a pathway for students to learn and implement their own ideas in order to become successful entrepreneurs; therefore, we believe there is a need for these target audiences. Creating and expanding these audiences will provide access to unique learning experiences, real-life situations and provide valuable business and entrepreneurship information to them (which can positively impact the economic condition of the community). Target Audience / Students Grades : Kindergarten & 4th/5th Grades are not targeted (English). The curriculum is developed with 1st through 3rd grade (ages 6-9) only - early elementary children who are in the concrete operational cognitive development stage; therefore, the curriculum utilizes concrete metaphors (e.g.; recipe, blueprint, vault, shield), large print for worksheets, and has scenarios appropriate for a given age, such as bats/frogs/knights/dinosaurs. This is not appropriate for kindergarten or 4th grade and beyond as the language and activity levels are too elementary for 4th and older students, and also too advanced for pre-k. Chemistry Binder Covers – Templates for Classroom Use
Life Sciences, Science, STEM, Inventors, Basic Science, Chemistry, Special Resources, Montessori, Classroom Management, Resources for Teachers, Homeschool Templates, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Teacher Tools, Projects, Activities, Workbooks, Drawing Templates & Outlines, Templates, Graphic Organizers, Experiments
Chemistry Binder Covers – Templates for Classroom Use Organize your chemistry handouts, notes, and units with visual clarity Simple and flexible templates to help organize your chemistry materials In my chemistry classes, it can be a challenge to keep things organized - especially when it comes to multiple units, lab notes, worksheets and review materials. What’s included: 12 chemistry-themed cover pages different colors zu choose as a cover sheet as a divider between the individual chemistry topics I've printed these on colored paper for my own binder and also used them digitally in student notebooks. Works well for both teacher organization and student-facing materials. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Chemistry teacher (Biology teacher, Math teacher) in Germany Did You Know? I teach with a certified therapy dog, and together we create a positive and inspiring learning environment. 🐶✨
