SW Blend Find and Colour Phonics Worksheet to Develop Phonemic

This SW fun, Find and Color worksheet for initial blends is excellent for acquainting children orally with initial consonant blends and helping them develop the necessary phonemic awareness in preparation for more advanced blending work, involving four phonemes. What is included in the pack? One PDF sheet for the SW blend. What do the worksheets involve? Pupils are instructed to combine the two letters on each worksheet and then look for objects that start with that consonant blend. Then, these items ought to be coloured, leaving the others uncoloured. Children can easily work on the sheets unaided once they have been instructed, although, with those children with special needs, it is strongly suggested that an adult works with the child for maximum benefit. How to use The introduction of the concept of initial blends needs to be done thoroughly. When I work with children, especially those with a special need, I first like to teach children to blend two consonant letters. Then I work on developing the children's phonemic awareness: that being the ability to hear two consonant letters blended at the beginning of a word, easily. This is difficult for some pupils and takes a lot of practice. These worksheets can assist by first encouraging students to blend the two consonant letters and then by helping them to hear the blend at the start of a word. As often as you can, practice blending the letters in each initial blend and encourage the students to follow suit. I find that modelling is key at this stage. Who are the initial blends Find and colour worksheets for? Young learners Those with a special need Due to their non-babyish nature, they can be successfully used with older ESL/EFL pupils. Answer keys: The answer key is included on the sheet, in small print.

First of all, you can use the digital PDF file to present each word to your students. Just use the arrow keys on your PC or laptop to go from one word to the next. You can also use the printable flash cards to do so. Just print the cards, laminate them and cut them out. There are two different versions available, one with rounded corners and one with sharp corners. Choose whichever one you prefer. When it is time to test the words, just hand out the vocabulary list and follow this up with the vocab test the very next class. And for a bit of fun, go ahead and play the BINGO game. There are three different fluency practice pages that all focus on learning to recognize, spell, and read the target sight word in context. Allowing students to practice the sight word in context gives students the ability to connect the sight word's meaning and grammatical usage to help gain a greater understanding of the target word. Each passage repeats the target word multiple times for extra practice with the word. Students will practice reading, writing, reading comprehension, and spelling high frequency words with these fluency pages. Included in this sight word fluency packet: * One reading fluency page that contains a single passage for students to read and find the sight word. * One write and read fluency page where students will write the target sight word and then read the passage. * One read, write, and draw fluency page where students will read a sentence, copy the sentence then draw a picture to illustrate the sentence. These cute alphabet coloring pages allow students to practice finding the sound of letters in words that they know. It also gives them an opportunity to have a hands-on activity that activates their creativity! How to Use This: When you're teaching a new letter, these coloring and cutting pages can be a great addition to your plans. Hand out the coloring page that coordinates with the focus letter. Help them find the upper and lower case letter on the picture. Have them say the item's name as they point to the item. Then give them crayons or markers and let them all loose coloring! When they're all done, give them scissors and supervise and assist as they cut out their picture. These coloring and cutting pages are great independent work, center fillers, homework, or just additions to your letter lessons. They would also be fun to display on a bulletin board or in the hallway. If you are using a letter of the week type of approach, these worksheets would fit right in! They can be used while teaching children at home, small homeschool or co-op groups, or a large preschool or kindergarten class.
