Clip It & Flip It Counting Tally Marks

Clip It & Flip It Counting Tally Marks

Such a fun way to practice tally marks. These Clip It and Flip It Cards are a great self checking math activity for centers or independent work. Answers print on the back of each card for self-checking independence. This also makes a perfect activity for early finishers or for morning activities while teachers are taking attendance and other duties. These Clip It and Flip It Cards can be placed in differentiated work baskets, used with tutors, or as a great take home activity. Students look at the card, count or subtilize to determine the answer, and clip their selection with a clothes pin or other clip you provide. They then flip the card to check their answer, remove the clip and repeat with another card. The clip and flip activity also works fine motor skills and is great for the pincer grasp. Large cards, and answer choices along the bottom of cards for ease for left- and right-handed students. Straight line cutting makes it easier for you to prep. I place my clip cards in a 5 x 7 photo case or a clear pencil box with a couple of clothespins and use for center activities (2 students per center). A co-worker stores them in pencil bags and uses them for morning work for the students while she takes attendance and lunch count. Another teacher I know printed the front pages only, and used them in small group with clear counters, so she could see if they were counting or subtilizing and if they were correct. I created these for my Kindergarten Classroom and have also used them with a few of my struggling second grade students as well as my older special needs students. 20 clip cards are included. Print pages 6 - 17 on double-sided, short edge binding.

Numbers 1-10 - Play Dough Mats and Recipe

Numbers 1-10 - Play Dough Mats and Recipe

The play dough mats are suitable for preschool, 1st grade beginners, special education, and also for use at home to promote numbers, quantities, and motor skills. They provide children with a playful and creative way to learn digits and quantities. The mats are ideal for number stations, learning trays, or independent work. You will receive several mats for molding numbers up to 10. Each mat has the same task: -The children shape the digit with play dough. -The children mold and place the corresponding quantity as apples on the apple tree as an unstructured quantity. -The children mold and place balls in the corresponding number on the ten frame. -The children match picture cards with the corresponding finger image to the respective play dough mat. These can be fixed with a play dough ball on the mat. For differentiation, finger images with one hand (numbers up to 5) and two hands (numbers up to 10) are available. It is best to laminate and cut out the cards. The cards can be attached to the play dough mats with a play dough ball. -The children write the number with a dry-erase marker on the number sequence. Each task type is visualized with symbols so that the students do not need reading skills to complete the tasks. For differentiation, there are two versions of the play dough mats for each number: 1)Number to trace and predetermined quantities of apples on the tree. 2)Number must be written freely, and the quantities for the apple tree must be counted independently. Tip: The two versions (easy and difficult) can be printed double-sided (duplex printing) for differentiation of the individual numbers. If you only want one version, select "odd pages" (Version 1) or "even pages" (Version 2) to print from page 7 onwards. To prevent the play dough from leaving marks on the paper, the copy template should be laminated or placed in a plastic sleeve. Additionally, you will find a practical DIY recipe for inexpensive play dough that you can quickly make yourself. Best regards Doreen Blumhagen – Die Relitante

Clip It and Flip It - Counting to Twenty with Base Ten Blocks

Clip It and Flip It - Counting to Twenty with Base Ten Blocks

Working with 3D base ten blocks is invaluable. But when students test, sadly it is with paper and pencil or on a computer or tablet and students see 2D images of 3D objects. Working with these Flip it and Clip it Cards is a fun way to practice transferring knowledge of 3D images to a 2D image. It can be so tricky! This activity was designed for my Kindergarten class, but it has also been used successfully in Kindergarten, Second, and with Resource and SPED. When using this resource, students will count the unit blocks on the card and attach a clothespin or clip to their answer. After clipping, they flip the card to check the answer. Great for fine motor development. Use this activity in your math centers or small groups. Put the cards and some clips in task boxes or individual work baskets. This is also a good take home or early-finisher activity. EASY clean up. I teach my students to take all the cards and the clips out of the task box. As they clip, flip, and check their answer, they put the card back IN the box! They use the same clip over and over. Easy to make and use, Clip It and Flip It Counting to Twenty with Base Ten Blocks includes 37 task cards. Answers print on the back for self-checking independence. Extra large cards, 2 cards per pages, so students can easily see and count the blocks. Answer selection along bottom makes it easy for left handed or right handed students. Straight line cutting makes it easier to prep. Clip it and Flip it cards help develop/strengthen fine motor skills while working on counting, number recognition, and transferring knowledge of three dimensional shapes onto 2d images on paper. I print cards on heavy card stock, laminate for durability, and cut. I place all cards with 3 or 4 clothespins in a task box to add to my center selections. My students LOVE Clip and Flip cards! Teachers love the ease of use and so easy to swap out sets of cards to keep centers interesting and students engaged. One teacher even used them as an assessment tool - she had students in a small group at her table, and gave them each a few cards and transparent counters. She used a checklist for marking. You will download a PDF of 45 pages. Print pages 8 through 45 double-sided. If your printer does not allow double-sided printing, print odd pages first, then place them in the printer and print even pages.
