Clip It and Flip It - Counting Firetrucks
Math, Early Math, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Activities
Engaging Hands on Math Activity for Pre-K and Kindergarten, even Beginning First. Also good for ESL, Resource, or SPED. Counting Firetrucks Clip It and Flip It it is an easy to make and use resource. It includes counting task cards with self-checking independence. Answers are printed on the back of these cards with double-sided printing. When using this Counting Firetrucks Clip It and Flip It resource, students will count the firetrucks on the card and attach a clothespin or clip to their answer. After clipping, they flip the card to check the answer. Great for fine motor development. Use this activity in your math centers or small groups. Put the cards and some clips in task boxes or individual work baskets. This is also a good take home or early-finisher activity. EASY clean up. I teach my students to take all the cards and the clips out of the task box. As they clip, flip, and check their answer, they put the card back IN the box! They use the same clip over and over. Included in this Counting Firetrucks Clip It and Flip It are 20 clip it and flip it cards and one task box label. 4 cards per page. Cards are made with straight-line cutting; which makes it easier for you. Large cards, with the clip selection at the bottom, making it easier for left- or right-handed students. Clip it and Flip it cards help develop/strengthen fine motor skills while working on counting and number recognition. I print cards on heavy card stock, laminate for durability, and cut. I place all cards with 3 or 4 clothespins in a task box to add to my center selections. My students LOVE Clip and Flip cards! Teachers love the ease of use and so easy to swap out sets of cards to keep centers interesting and students engaged. One teacher even used them as an assessment tool - she had students in a small group at her table, and gave them each a few cards and transparent counters. She used a checklist for marking. You will download a PDF of 17 pages. Print pages 6 through 17 double-sided. If your printer does not allow double-sided printing, print odd pages first, then place them in the printer and print even pages.

Good Sportsmanship: How to Win and Lose Well
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Life Skills, Social Skills, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Activities
Help take the frustration on of winning and losing games by helping students learn about good sportsmanship. Have students learn that there are good ways to win and good ways to lose as well as negative ways of winning and losing. What is Included: This activity includes an instructional page as well as thumbs up and thumbs down cards. There are also 8 clip cards with various scenarios around kids winning and losing games for students to determine who had a good response and who had a negative response. How to Use: One way to use this activity is to give each student a set of thumbs up and thumbs down cards. The teacher will read the scenario on the card and students will hold up a thumb card depending on if the child in the scenario did the right thing or the wrong thing. A second way to use this activity is to have the students use clips to mark the correct answer for each scenario. Older students who are able to read on their own will be able to complete the activity this way. When to Use: This activity makes a great whole class activity by having students all listen to the scenarios together and hold up the correct card. The teacher can then discuss with students why the student made a good choice or bad choice. The clip cards can be used during center rotations, morning work, or small groups. Learning this skill is important for students so that they understand the feelings of others and how their actions can affect other people's emotions. This activity is low prep. The cards just need to be printed and cut apart. Laminating the thumbs up and thumbs down cards will allow them to be used multiple times. The cards can easily be stored in a task box when not in use.
