Exploring Amazing Jobs - Adaptive interactive book
Career, Life Studies, Special Education Needs (SEN), Special Resources, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Read Alouds, Activities
Exploring Amazing Jobs Interactive Flip Book introduces young learners to eight careers in a hands-on way. With real like illustrations and interactive story elements, children get to explore the tools and roles that make each profession unique—whether it's the firefighter's hose, the doctor's stethoscope, the builder's hammer, or the chef's whisk. This book hopes to spark curiosity for the many different jobs that help our world work together. Learners will match picture cards to the key tools of each job. For example, when learning about a builder, they'll match the hammer card; when meeting a chef, they'll find the whisk; and when exploring an astronaut, they'll select the telescope. Other tools, such as a watering can, paintbrush, and book, encourage children to connect various professions with the equipment used in those roles. Early learning about different jobs is essential because it helps to understand the diversity of roles that contribute to society. It also introduces the idea that every job, no matter how different, is valuable. This activity book is specifically designed for early elementary students and special education learners. It promotes active participation, improves comprehension skills, and enhances their understanding of the tools and tasks associated with various professions. The simple and clean illustrations help children focus on details while engaging in the matching activities. Printing and Assembly Instructions Print the document in landscape orientation. Page 1 of the PDF provides a visual guide for the activity, while the interactive story begins on Page 2 of the download. Assembling the activity book is an easy project that results in a personalized educational tool for your students. Follow these steps to create your activity book: Download and print all pages of the activity book. Do not cut the first two pages of the document. Page 1 is a visual guide for the activity, and Page 2 is the title page of the book. These should be laminated along with the rest of the pages. Laminate all pages of the activity book to make them durable and long-lasting. You can use a laminating machine or visit a local print shop for lamination. Cut out all pages along the dotted lines, but be careful not to cut the front and back pages of the book. Cut out all individual squares and attach velcro to the areas where symbols for velcro are indicated. This will allow kids to stick and remove the squares from the book. Once all squares have velcro attached, assemble the activity book by coil binding it or hole-punching the pages and placing them in a binder. Enjoy! IFIO Girl I'll Figure It Out

Types of Paragraphs - Make a Magazine Project: Narrative, Descriptive, Persuasive, Compare & Contrast, Cause & Effect, How-To Paragraphs
ELA, Writing, Creative Writing, Strategies, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Activities, Projects
Types of Paragraphs: Make a Magazine Project: Narrative, Descriptive, Persuasive, Compare & Contrast, Cause & Effect, How-To Paragraphs. This fun and engaging mini-unit helps teach paragraph writing while keeping students interested because they are creating their very own magazine! How to Use: Print a hamburger paragraph handout for each student. Review the parts of an effective paragraph: topic sentence, juicy details, and concluding sentence. Then teach your students about the six types of paragraphs they are going to learn how to write: narrative, descriptive, persuasive, compare and contrast, cause and effect, and how-to. Each kind of paragraph will be a different part of the magazine. A persuasive paragraph becomes a letter to the editor. A narrative paragraph will be a personal story. A descriptive paragraph will be a travel article. A compare and contrast paragraph will be a product review. A cause and effect paragraph will be a current events article, and a how-to paragraph will be a home maintenance piece. Use one period of class time to draft each paragraph. Students get a handout with some sample ideas and then come up with their own. They draft a 5-sentence paragraph that will become their "article." After each draft, show students the editing handout, and encourage them to edit their own work or trade with a friend. You can also have students hand in their drafts each day for you to edit as well. Once students have their six edited drafts, they can either type them OR write good copies on the included templates. Put them all together, make a title page, and each student now has their own magazine! Extensions: Early finishers can make a crossword puzzle using an online website, or create their own advertisement for their magazine! Grades to Use With: This project is designed for students who are learning how to write effective paragraphs in grades 2-5. What's Included: A total of 16 pages in ready-to-print PDF format Title Page Hamburger Paragraph Handout 6 Draft Pages Proofreading Checklist 7 Pages of Templates for Good Copies

Do you want your students in grades 5-7 to learn how to become global citizens who can respect a variety of cultural norms and comprehend cross-cultural differences? Are you looking for a fun way to bring all of these ideas to life? Check out this ready-to-go lesson for your class. This 5-Page PDF is ready to print for your social studies classroom. It includes clear teacher instructions for a fun class simulation where half of your students will act out a new "class norm" (five options are provided such as not raising your hand to ask a question) that the other half of your class won't be expecting. While the simulation is happening, everyone will be working on a three page reading comprehension task. Students will read about cultural norms from around the world (slurping noodles when eating in Japan or nodding one's head to say "no" in Bulgaria). They will imagine how not knowing about the cultural norms in a place where they are travelling could lead to accidental misunderstandings. Students are also taught a simple definition of the concept of stereotypes, and they will think of how they are different from cultural norms. Finally, there is a 1-page reflection with prompts- perfect for after a class discussion. Teacher Instructions: 1. Split your class in two and talk to only one half. 2. Tell them that they will have a new “class cultural norm.” Pick one from the provided ideas. 3. When the whole class is reunited, pass out the reading page & worksheets. Students read about cultural norms and answer the questions. 4. As they work, the selected half will enact their new norm, which will confuse the other half of the class. 5. Once the point has been made, let the other half in on the secret. 6. Have a discussion about cultural norms and give students time to write a reflection about this lesson.
