We are always looking for ways to teach our students new skills. Being able to tailor instruction to their learning styles is just one effective way to increase student engagement and set students up for success. Many of our students, from year to year, are visual and auditory learners. Most children (and even adults) can attest to their ability to better retain information that they have learned through music and song. Because of this, my resources seek to teach students skills through song. This particular resource is aPilgrims and Puritans Song. This can be used in your social studies classroom with your elementary students. Included in this resource: -- Pilgrims and Puritans Song MP4 video Student will love learning and reviewing U.S. history with the many details included here. You can use this video to introduce this segment in time for America and then use it again to review later on. This particular video will provide students the opportunity to fill in the blank for the Gettysburg Address. You may choose to incorporate it into your lesson’s presentation , so it is easily accessible for you. Chinese New Year Phonics Brushing Teeth Activity This is a vibrant teaching resource designed mainly for preschool, kindergarten, and grade 1 learners. The activity facilitates sound recognition and recall, and letter reviewing tasks. The Chinese lion teeth brushing game This interactive game particularly supports those beginning phonics learning single sounds or phase 2 of the British curriculum . It is focused on lowercase letters only. What's involved? Five colorful Chinese lion head mats - each showcases lowercase letters graphically displayed on the lion's teeth. An immersive classroom experience which facilitates education through play and improves memory retention. How to use it? The preparation bit: print out the mats, cut around the lion heads and laminate them. Then gather non-permanent markers (don't use permanent ones!) along with dollar store toothbrushes. The activity: learners draw dots over each sound on the lions' heads using dry erase markers then brush off these dots using their toothbrushes revealing a hidden letter underneath. Learners are then encouraged to vocalize its corresponding sound aloud! Bonus: This meticulous exercise also enhances fine motor skills by holding toothbrushes and drawing with markers while honing hand-eye coordination in an engaging educational context!
