It introduces the terms: Point (stated in the topic sentence & the concluding sentence): says what the paragraph is about by making a claim or sharing an opinion Evidence: a fact, statistic, example, or quotation from a text that supports your point Explanation: your explanation and analysis of why the evidence supports your point Then it teaches students how to use these kinds of sentences to create a cohesive paragraph.
