Charlotte's Web – Character Webs Activity
ELA, Reading, Reading Comprehension, Literature, Grade 2, 3, 4, Activities
This product has students complete character webs for several characters in the novel Charlotte's Web, by E. B. White. This activity has students delve into the characters' traits. I would first do a lesson on what a character trait is. Make sure your students know there are positive traits as well as negative traits. You could have students complete the webs as you read the story, or you could wait until the end. In this novel there are five characters that students will look closer at. These characters are Wilbur, Charlotte, Fern, Templeton, and Avery. Even though this worksheet only has room for students just to write a word in each section, your class discussions could go in a lot more detail. Instead of just telling students to give you six words to describe a character, make them give you specific examples. For example, if a student says that Charlotte is patient, ask them a specific time in the story that Charlotte shows patience. *It's important to note that these character webs should focus on character traits (ex: kind), not physical traits (ex: short). Make sure your students know the difference.

Speaking and Listening Would You Rather Set 4
ELA, Reading, Reading Comprehension, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Activities
Speaking and Listening Would You Rather Set 4 is the first of 5 sets to engage your students in this game. Speaking and listening are important skills to practice with students. Many students have a hard time sharing their ideas out loud. Would You Rather questions are a great way to get all students involved. You could do just speaking and listening where you put the questions up and students share their answers. You could print out the questions and have students answer in groups. Or, you could have students write answers in complete sentences and then share. Would You Rather questions not only allow students to communicate with each other, it's a great opportunity for students to see who might have common interests. If students complete these in a group setting, there could be some great discussions that students have based on who has the same answers. If you choose to have students stand and give their answer in front of the class, you could have them just say their answer, or you could encourage them to give reasons why. Having them write the sentence first will also help them clearly state their answer.

Charlotte's Web Activity Storyboard
ELA, Reading, Reading Comprehension, Literature, Grade 2, 3, 4, Activities
Charlotte's Web Storyboard Activity Students will create an illustrated storyboard that maps out the key events in the beloved novel Charlotte's Web, by E.B. White. This engaging activity builds reading comprehension by having students summarize and sequence important plot points. The printable includes six boxes for students to sketch a scene and describe the event in a sentence or two. The boxes are numbered so children can retell the story in the correct order. Popular in grades 2-4, completing this storyboard is an ideal follow-up for analyzing characters, themes, and literary elements after finishing the novel. Teachers can facilitate a whole group discussion of the most pivotal moments before students work independently or in small groups to select and illustrate their six favorite scenes. Whether utilized for individual practice or collaborative learning, this storyboard fosters critical thinking and a deeper appreciation of Charlotte's Web.

Ugly Duckling Puppets
ELA, Reading, Reading Comprehension, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Activities
This set of popsicle stick puppets is for the classic fairy tales The Ugly Duckling Story. My favorite version is the Walt Disney's The Ugly Duckling (Little Golden Book) written by Annie North Bedford and illustrated by The Walt Disney Studio. This puppet set is a great and fun activity for pre school, kindergarten, and first grade students in class or at home. This set can help your students to connect, remember and retell the story to others. I hope these puppets are useful in your future story adventures at home or in the classroom. Materials for 1 set: 3 to 5 popsicle sticks crayons or color pencils 1 puppet page Instructions: Color puppets, cut on doted line or outer edge, glue each to a popsicle stick. For the 3 Duckling I would put the 3 Duckling on one side and the 3 Adult Ducks on the other side. It would be the same idea with the Ugly Duckling and Adult Ugly Duckling or Swan. On the downloadable and printable page there is 5 puppets. Which are 1 Ugly Duckling, 1 Adult Ugly Duckling, 1 Mama Duck, 1 group of 3 Ducklings, and 1 group of 3 Adult Ducklings.
