This Letter K Counting to 10 Center is a counting to 10 math matching center for the letter K. This resource is great for letter recognition and practicing counting with tens frames. This is a quick and easy activity to give students who need practice with recognizing the lowercase form of the letter K, who need practice recognizing numbers up to 10, as well as for those students who need extra practice counting to 10. This counting math center can be used in the following ways * Math centers * Matching centers * Small group activities * Morning work * Emergency sub plans * Quick counting assessment * Quick number recognition assessment Skills assessed with this letter K counting activity * Lowercase letter K recognition * Ability to count to 10 * Recognizing amounts when represented in a tens frame * Ability to match numbers to the correct tens frame * Fine Motor Skills This counting math center is low prep. All that is required is for the teacher to print it out, cut it out and laminate if so desired. Once created, this counting center can be used over and over. The provide a great way for students to practice counting to 10 and practicing letter recognition at the same time. Students can work on this counting center independently, in pairs, or in small groups to complete. Prefix Over Sentence Reading Rings

Practice reading words with the prefix OVER- with these sentence reading rings. Students will read words with the prefix over- in the context of sentences. Each card also includes a bold and colorful image to illustrate each sentence and to help students to learn the meanings of each word. What is Included: This resource includes one reading ring activity for the prefix over. There are cards each featuring a different word with the prefix non, with a sentence using the word in context and an image to illustrate that sentence. When to Use Early Finishers - If students finish their work early, they can use these reading rings for extra practice. Small Group Work - Teachers can use these reading rings to target small groups of students who need more practice reading words with prefixes. Independent Practice - Students can work independently at their desks to read this set of prefix cards. Morning Work - Students can read and review this reading ring for morning work as their classmates arrive to class. How to Make: Teachers will print out the pages and cut each card apart. Once cut apart, the teacher can choose to laminate the cards for durability. Then, use a hole punch to punch a hole in the top left corner of the card. Place the cards on a ring to create your reading ring, making sure the cover card is on top. Activities include: spelling games, sentence match-ups, mixed-up text and decoding words from the lesson. Writing Prompts Writing prompts are designed to continue the theme or lessons learned in the story. Students are persuaded to write in a variety of ways and each prompt includes several cues to help. As with the spelling/vocab section, writing prompts will vary. This includes research pieces, reading responses, poetry and creative writing prompts. Mixed question answers provide evidence from the text, math questions contain the relevant workings. Answers are designed for use by the teacher, but also suitable as a handout to the student. Writing Center Words & Write-the Room Activity – Camping

Any of your students go camping? Help them write about their adventures with these fifteen camping themed words and images for your K-2 classroom Writing Center . Words with images include: back pack, bug spray, campfire, canoe, fish, ghost stories, hike, lantern, map, rod, sing, sleeping bag, S'more, tent, and toast marshmallows. My students love the Writing Center . I have plenty of tools and “help” available to them, including themed pages like this camping one. I print two copies so there is no arguing about having to share, and I laminate them for durability. Students can easily grab a laminated word page and use it to help write their amazing stories. Page 4 of the PDF is for the Writing Center . Print and laminate one or two and place it in the Writing Center for your students to access as needed. Also included are 16 cards for a Write–the–Room activity if you choose to use them. (I have only used this with my Kindergarten class.) These cards are four-per-page, with the same words and images used for the Writing Center . Pages 5-8 of the PDF are cards for use as a Write-the-Room activity. You may wish to laminate for durability to be able to use year-after-year, and use sticky tack (poster putty) to mount it to walls, bookshelves, file cabinets, etc. I find this is easier than tape. On of my grade-level teachers prints in gray scale, tapes them up, and then lets students take them home after use. Whatever works best for you. Recording pages for the Write-the-Room are included on pages 9 and 10. Page 9 is a full-size recording sheet, and page 10 has 2 half-size recording sheets if you use mini-clip boards like I do. Please note - the first three pages are for "packaging" purposes.
