Día de los Muertos Reading Comprehension Passage and Craft Activities for Grades 4th to 7th What’s inside? I created this resource with grades 4th to 7th in mind because I wanted something that makes cultural learning easy to understand, but still interesting for older elementary and middle-grade students. While designing it, my goal was to give students a chance to read, think, discuss, and create - all in one meaningful lesson. This resource includes: A reading comprehension passage that compares Día de los Muertos (Mexico) and Shradh (India) A small set of Día de los Muertos vocabulary words Pictures of both Día de los Muertos and Shradh ceremonies to support understanding A simple mask-making craft activity A scrapbook/collage project for team work A certificate you can award to students when they finish Resource features I wrote the passage to help students notice how both traditions honor their ancestors in different ways. The vocabulary list gives students a quick introduction to important terms before reading. Pictures of both traditions make the topic easier to discuss, especially for students who are seeing these celebrations for the first time. The mask-making activity gives students a fun way to connect with the lesson through art. The scrapbook/collage project encourages team work, creativity, and discussion. The activities and wording are age-appropriate for grades 4 - 7. Clear instructions are included so teachers, parents, and homeschoolers can use it without extra preparation. How to use this resource? Reading Comprehension: Students can read the passage and answer questions that help them compare and contrast both traditions. Group Work: You can divide the class into teams to complete the scrapbook or collage activity. Craft Time: The mask-making activity can be used during art time or as a fun cultural extension. Cultural Studies: This set works well in lessons about traditions, celebrations, family, or world cultures. Who Can Use It? For teachers it is a ready to use resource for literacy lessons, cultural studies, or creative classroom projects. Homeschoolers: Easy step by step activities that make cultural learning hands-on and enjoyable will guide the homeschoolers to use this resource efficiently. For parents this resource is a simple way to support reading skills and introduce cultural diversity at home. This resource helps students practice comprehension while also learning how different cultures remember and celebrate loved ones. It’s a complete and meaningful activity set that encourages both learning and creativity. Fall Number Flashcards – 0–30 Memory and Sequencing Games

Fall Numbers Memory Game Bring autumn fun into your math lessons! This set of fall-themed flashcards gives students repeated practice with numbers from 0 to 30 in a playful and flexible format. I first made these for my kindergarten class, when many of my students still needed support with recognizing numbers and putting them in the right order. The cards worked well because they could be used in so many different ways without having to prepare something new each time. There are 228 cards in total, divided into six full sets with different colored borders. The colors make it easy to keep groups organized, since each table can use a separate set without mixing the cards together. Each card shows a single number in a large, clear font, which helps beginning learners and also supports students who struggle with visual distractions. The cards can be used for memory or matching games, where students flip over two at a time and try to find pairs. Another favorite activity in my class has been sequencing: students work together to lay the cards out from 0 to 30. For more active lessons, we sometimes spread the cards on the floor and have students “walk” the numbers in order, which adds movement to the practice. I also use the cards as simple flashcards, holding them up for quick recognition drills, or handing one card to each student and asking the group to line up in numerical order. With partners, students have created their own math problems using the numbers they draw, which adds a layer of challenge for more advanced learners. Differentiation is built in, since you can choose how many numbers to include. With beginners, I usually work with 0–10. As students grow more confident, I extend to 0–20 and eventually the full 0–30. Adding a timer or encouraging students to say each number out loud when they play can make the activity even more engaging. Preparation is straightforward: print the set you want, cut the cards, and laminate if you plan to reuse them. I keep each set in small envelopes or bags so they are ready for math centers, group games, or quick warm-ups. The fall design adds a seasonal touch, but the number practice is useful all year long.
