Fall Alphabet Memory Game – Uppercase ABC Cards ABC Picture Cards for Letter Recognition and Word Building This fall alphabet memory game is made with uppercase letters only, from A to Z. Each card shows one bold capital letter together with a simple fall picture, such as B with bat or P with pumpkin . I started using it at the beginning of the school year when my kindergarten class was just learning capital letters, and it quickly became a favorite activity. There are six complete decks of 29 cards each. I like having more than one set because I can give different groups their own deck and avoid cards getting mixed together. The most common way we use the cards is as a memory game, where children flip them over and look for pairs. But there are many other options: putting the alphabet in order on the rug, matching letters I call out, or using a single card as a starting point for a quick word game. The focus on uppercase only makes this resource useful for beginners. Students who are still getting comfortable with print can concentrate on learning one letter form at a time. English learners also benefit from the clear images, since they can connect the picture with the letter sound without feeling overwhelmed. Preparation is simple. Print, cut, and, if you want the cards to last, laminate them. I store mine in small envelopes so they are easy to grab during literacy centers, small group rotations, or as an option for early finishers. The autumn theme makes them seasonal, but the skills they reinforce—recognizing uppercase letters, matching letters with sounds, and developing early vocabulary—are important throughout the year. Día de los Muertos Reading Comprehension Passage and Craft for 4th-7th
Creative Arts, ELA, Reading, Reading Comprehension, October, Months, Holiday & Seasonal, Fall, Seasons, Grade 4, 5, 6, 7, Worksheets & Printables, Crafts, Activities, Worksheets
Día de los Muertos Reading Comprehension Passage and Craft Activities for Grades 4th to 7th What’s inside? I created this resource with grades 4th to 7th in mind because I wanted something that makes cultural learning easy to understand, but still interesting for older elementary and middle-grade students. While designing it, my goal was to give students a chance to read, think, discuss, and create - all in one meaningful lesson. This resource includes: A reading comprehension passage that compares Día de los Muertos (Mexico) and Shradh (India) A small set of Día de los Muertos vocabulary words Pictures of both Día de los Muertos and Shradh ceremonies to support understanding A simple mask-making craft activity A scrapbook/collage project for team work A certificate you can award to students when they finish Resource features I wrote the passage to help students notice how both traditions honor their ancestors in different ways. The vocabulary list gives students a quick introduction to important terms before reading. Pictures of both traditions make the topic easier to discuss, especially for students who are seeing these celebrations for the first time. The mask-making activity gives students a fun way to connect with the lesson through art. The scrapbook/collage project encourages team work, creativity, and discussion. The activities and wording are age-appropriate for grades 4 - 7. Clear instructions are included so teachers, parents, and homeschoolers can use it without extra preparation. How to use this resource? Reading Comprehension: Students can read the passage and answer questions that help them compare and contrast both traditions. Group Work: You can divide the class into teams to complete the scrapbook or collage activity. Craft Time: The mask-making activity can be used during art time or as a fun cultural extension. Cultural Studies: This set works well in lessons about traditions, celebrations, family, or world cultures. Who Can Use It? For teachers it is a ready to use resource for literacy lessons, cultural studies, or creative classroom projects. Homeschoolers: Easy step by step activities that make cultural learning hands-on and enjoyable will guide the homeschoolers to use this resource efficiently. For parents this resource is a simple way to support reading skills and introduce cultural diversity at home. This resource helps students practice comprehension while also learning how different cultures remember and celebrate loved ones. It’s a complete and meaningful activity set that encourages both learning and creativity. Fall Alphabet Match Game – Uppercase and Lowercase Letter Center
Holiday & Seasonal, ESL, Language Development, ELA, Special Resources, Special Education Needs (SEN), Children’s Literature, Literature, Seasons, Fall, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Quizzes, Projects, Flashcards, Word Problems
Fall Alphabet Match Game Uppercase and Lowercase Letter Center Spot It Style Cards for Early Literacy This fall-themed alphabet game is a playful way for students to practice uppercase and lowercase letters. The activity is based on a “find the match” system: each card has exactly one letter in common with another card, and students have to be the first to spot it. I have used this kind of game format with kindergarten and first grade, and it usually gets the whole group involved quickly. The set includes 93 cards in total, divided into three different versions of 31 cards each. There are round cards, hexagons, and squares. I usually prepare the square version when I need something quick to cut, but the round cards feel more like a traditional game and always catch students’ attention. The hexagons are a nice option if you want a different look. Each card shows six pictures, with the letters hidden among them, so students have to focus closely to find the match. This type of activity works well for building letter recognition, both uppercase and lowercase. It also helps with visual perception, concentration, and taking turns in a group setting. In my classroom, I sometimes keep the game in a literacy center, and other times I use it as a quick warm-up before a reading lesson. It is flexible enough to use in small groups, partner work, or even as an early finisher option. The set also comes with tally sheets, which give students an extra chance to record their letters and practice writing. Some of my students liked keeping track of their matches this way, which turned the game into a mix of play and writing practice. Preparation is simple: print the cards, cut them apart, and laminate if you want them to last longer. Once made, they store easily in a small envelope or box and can be used again each fall. This resource is designed for kindergarten and the early grades, but older students sometimes enjoy it as a quick challenge too. The fall theme makes it seasonal, without being too spooky, so it works well throughout September, October, and November . Warm regards, Lernfitness Did You Know? Fall I Have, Who Has? Game – Numbers and Number Words 0–30
Holiday & Seasonal, Language Development, ELA, Special Resources, Special Education Needs (SEN), Math, Early Math, Numbers, Seasons, Fall, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Quizzes, Projects, Centers, Read Alouds
Fall I Have, Who Has? Game – Numbers and Number Words 0–30 This autumn version of “I Have, Who Has?” gives students practice with numbers and number words from 0 up to 30 . I like to use it in October, when the seasonal design adds a bit of variety to our math centers. The familiar format makes it easy for students to understand, and the game naturally gets everyone involved. The set includes two complete versions. One uses standard number words, while the other shows the words broken into syllables for students who need extra support with reading. That option has been especially helpful for children who find longer number words like “seventeen” or “twenty-three” difficult to read in one piece. You can decide how many cards to use depending on the group. For beginners, I usually stop at 0–10. As students gain confidence, I extend to 20 and then to 30. This makes the same resource usable across different levels without much extra planning. Playing is straightforward. The student with the start card begins by saying, “I have zero. Who has one?” The next student responds and the chain continues until the last card is read. Because students must listen carefully and wait for their turn, the game encourages attention, listening skills, and turn-taking alongside number practice. I have used this game in whole-class lessons, where everyone sits in a circle and plays together, and in small groups for targeted practice. It also works well for early finishers since once they know the rules, they can play independently. Preparation is simple. Print the cards, cut them apart, and laminate if you plan to reuse them. I store each set in a small envelope labeled with the range (10, 20, 30), so it’s easy to grab the version I need. This activity combines math and literacy practice with teamwork in a way that feels light and seasonal, but the skills—number recognition, word reading, and listening—are useful at any time of year. Warm regards, Lernfitness Did You Know? I teach with a certified therapy dog, and together we focus on creating a positive and inspiring learning environment.
