It will help your students practice adding and multiplying decimals while they shop to hit the target amount! The game includes 4 rounds with grocery shopping items for Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa holidays. Every round presents five food items to the students who practice estimating costs to manage a given budget. Whole class activity: This engaging exercise makes learning mathematical concepts more concrete than abstract learning alone. Students are shopping for a purpose! Realistic applications make education impactful and enjoyable for students, and math games are always a hit with my students! How to Use: This is a fun, whole class activity that you need to be able to project in your classroom on an interactive whiteboard. It is a Powerpoint presentation so you can move the boxes that cover the prices of each item after the students have guessed the price- just like on a real game show! You give your students a target budget (for example between $50-52). The smaller the budget range, the more challenging it will be. Students have to buy at least four of the items. Ask one student to choose one item at a time. The student guesses the price and chooses how many they want to buy of it. Then you reveal the price, all of the students students calculate how much they have spent, and you move on to the next item! Grades to Use With: This is a fun game for grades 3-6 when you are studying money, grocery shopping, and decimal operations. Even kids in middle school will have fun playing along! Looking for an enjoyable, hands-on method to practice reading and identifying ACK words? These unique sorting tasks offer a captivating approach to practicing words that conclude with digraphs in a lively literacy center. Three diverse sorting tasks are available to enhance the ability to read and recognize words that incorporate the ending digraph CK. Sorting Tasks Involve: Differentiating words belonging to the ACK family from those not in the ACK family. Separating images associated with the ACK family from those not related to the ACK family. Sorting between legitimate and fabricated ACK words. These low-preparation sorting activities are straightforward to set up. The educator will simply need to print the pages, cut out the sorting cards, and laminate them, if preferred. Laminating enables this literacy activity to be reused continuously in your literacy centers. Usage Methods: Establish a file folder sorting activity Affix magnets to the pieces to devise a cookie tray sorting activity Situate them in a box for a basic sorting activity To construct a file folder activity , position the two sorting mats on either side of a file folder. Utilize the word and picture cards to sort on the mats. You can affix hook and loop fasteners to the cards and mats, enabling the cards to stay in place once sorted. For the cookie tray sorting activity , attach magnets to the rear of each card. Position the mats adjacent to each other on the baking tray, and the magnets will ensure the cards stick to the mats. These options provide a wonderful hands-on literacy center that will keep your kindergartners and first graders engrossed in learning and practicing words in the ACK family. These no-prep, self checking cut and paste math puzzles are great for helping students to focus on addition as they do number bonds for number 26. Preparation: Just print and go! There are 2 pages for each number – The main worksheet and a page with puzzle pieces that need to be cut out and pasted on the worksheet. Each student will need a copy of both pages. There is also a “Back of Puzzle Pieces” page. This needs to be printed on the reverse side of all puzzle pieces pages. There are 2 printing options – colour or black and white You can also mix and match the colour and black and white pages. For example, you could print only the puzzle pieces in colour and the worksheet in black and white if you wish. These worksheets are great for: Homework Centers Extra work for early finishers Extra practice for students struggling with Number Sense How Students Use These Worksheets: Students cut out the puzzle pieces and place the pieces with the pictures facing down, so that the numbers on the back are visible. Next they need to look at the worksheet. There are sums in the blocks that need to be completed. They must find the pieces that match the sums and paste the pieces on the correct squares, with the numbers facing downwards and the picture facing upwards.
