Who Has It? โ Chemical Elements Game (1โ118) โ 3 Levels of Differentiation A cooperative chemistry card game for grades 7โ10 to review atomic numbers, element names, and symbols ๐งช๐ฏ This resource is a classroom game that helps students become more confident with the chemical elements โ from hydrogen to oganesson. The game follows the well-known โI haveโฆ who has?โ format and is designed to reinforce studentsโ understanding of element names, symbols, and atomic numbers in a playful and interactive way. To support different learning levels, the material includes three differentiated versions of the full game, each with 118 element cards: With element names for both question and answer (beginner level) Only the โI haveโฆโ part includes the name , the question uses the symbol/number (intermediate level) Without element names โ players must match based on symbol and atomic number alone (advanced level) Each version builds on the last and can be used flexibly depending on students' prior knowledge. The game works best with medium to large groups and encourages students to listen carefully, stay engaged, and support one another. Whatโs included: 3 full card sets (118 cards per set = 354 total) Differentiated by content and level of language support Clear instructions for printing, laminating, and use Ideal for individual, pair, or group work How I use it in class: Iโve played this game both at the end of a chemistry unit and as a fun opener when starting the periodic table. Itโs also perfect for substitute lessons or for classes with mixed ability levels. Since each student needs to be ready when their card comes up, it fosters attention and collaboration. This is one of those games where learning happens almost by accident โ students are so focused on playing that they internalize atomic numbers and symbols without even noticing. A simple, engaging way to bring structure, repetition, and movement into chemistry class โ no extra prep needed. If you're looking for an easy way to help students become more confident with the periodic table, this might be worth trying in your classroom. Best, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Mathematics Binder Covers โ Templates for Classroom Use Organize your Math handouts, notes, and units with visual clarity Simple and flexible templates to help organize your Mathematics materials In my math classes, it can be a challenge to keep things organized - especially when it comes to multiple units, lab notes, worksheets and review materials. To make it easier for my students and myself, I designed these simple binder sleeves. There are 12 different pages. The covers have a clean, colorful blob layout that is friendly but not distracting. I usually print them out and use them as cover sheets or as dividers in folders for students or teachers. They also work well for digital learning environments, e.g. as section covers in PDF files or on classroom platforms. I like that the color scheme allows students to quickly find what they are looking for, and it brings a little more structure to a subject that is often riddled with formulas and technical terms. When used as cover sheets, students can choose their favorite color for their cover sheet. This resource is handy - and has saved me a lot of time in lesson preparation and follow-up. Whatโs included: 12 math-themed cover pages different colors zu choose as a cover sheet as a divider between the individual Mathematics topics I've printed these on colored paper for my own binder and also used them digitally in student notebooks. Financial Literacy: My Party Budget- Decimals and Percentages Application
Life Studies, Finance, Home Economics, Math, Percentages, Decimals, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Worksheets & Printables, Word Problems, Activities, Projects
Financial Literacy: My Party Budget- Decimals and Percentages Application Unlock mathematicsโ real-world influence with this practical math project for students in grades 5-8. This tool allows students to sharpen their intermediate math skills, particularly applying percentage calculations and decimal operations to manage a budget consciously - a vital lesson in financial literacy. This versatile resource is ideal for grades 5 to 8 classrooms as well as high school special education environments where budgeting practice complements life skills training. How to Use: Give each student a party budget. You can choose to give everyone the same budget, OR this is a great way to differentiate. Give students with emerging understanding a budget of $100 (which is easy to work with) and give students who need a challenge a budget such as $240, which will result in more complex calculations. This will also stimulate discussions about budgeting in general and the challenge of planning with less money. Students need to partition their hypothetical party budget across varied cost categories like food, decorations and entertainment by employing basic percent in decimal form and understanding addition and multiplication of decimals. For example, they might decide to spend 50% of their budget on food because that is their favourite part of a party. They will calculate 50% of their total budget. This skill application brings relevance to numbers through experiential learning. You can decide if students should complete calculations by hand or if using a calculator is allowed. Also, a complete sample answer key is included that you can show to your students to demonstrate the task. Finally, students complete shopping research and choose items online or in store flyers. This fosters strategic thinking when managing limited resources. You can have a discussion about making tradeoffs (for example, choosing frozen pizza instead of fresh to have extra money for a party activity OR inviting fewer guests to have more money for party favours per person). What's Included: A total of 8 pages in PDF Format Title Page Teacher Instructions 3 Page Student Worksheets 3 Page Sample Answer Key

Scientist Jacques Monod - Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Version (PDF & H5P) Jacques Monod โ Gene Regulation and the Logic of Life Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Exercises (PDF + H5P) ๐งฌโ๏ธ This 45-minute resource introduces students in grades 9โ11 to Jacques Monod โ a French molecular biologist whose work helped uncover how genes are turned on and off. In many biology classes, students learn what DNA is and how proteins are made. But the question of how cells know which genes to activate โ and when โ often stays abstract. Monod, together with Franรงois Jacob, studied this in bacteria and developed the model of the lac operon. Itโs a great example of how cells respond to their environment, and it laid the groundwork for much of what we know about gene regulation today. To make this topic more tangible, Iโve created a compact, ready-to-use lesson that breaks it down into manageable parts. It includes an informational text, a fact sheet, quiz questions with answers, and a creative partner task. The material comes in color and black-and-white versions, plus thereโs a digital H5P version. Whatโs included: A clear, student-friendly text about Jacques Monod and the lac operon A fact sheet to help students sort and retain key information Quiz questions with an answer key โ good for review or independent work A task where students design and exchange their own questions in pairs Printable PDF and interactive H5P formats for flexible use ๐ป Answer key included โ Iโve used this resource during our genetics unit, especially when moving from DNA basics to regulation and gene expression. It also fits well in discussions about how scientific models are developed and tested. The partner task works well in small groups or for homework โ depending on your setup. ๐ Download now and bring the legacy of Jacques Monod into your biology lessons today! ๐ Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Helping Students Reflect with Therapy Dogs ๐ถ๐ญ Thereโs something special about the presence of a therapy dog in the classroom. Even the most restless students seem to relax. Some kids who rarely speak up suddenly open up. And for many, itโs the first time theyโve had a chance to experience the unconditional support that a dog offers. But what if we took that experience and turned it into a learning moment? Thatโs exactly what this reflection activity does. It helps students think about what kindness means, why responsibility matters, and how their actions affect othersโwhether those others have two legs or four. Why This Activity Feels Different โ It gets students thinking, not just answering. Itโs not about memorizing facts. Itโs about pausing for a moment and reflecting on simple but meaningful questions. โ It connects emotions with actions. Why do therapy dogs have rules? Why does kindness matter? These questions lead to unexpectedly deep discussions. โ Itโs easy for any grade level. Younger kids can draw their answers, while older students might write or discuss. No one feels left out. โ It works with or without a therapy dog. Even if your school doesnโt have one, this still sparks conversations about empathy and responsibility. โ No prep required. Just print it out, hand it to students, and let them think. How I Use It in My Classroom ๐ First, we talk. I ask, โHow do animals teach us about kindness?โ or โWhat do therapy dogs need from us?โ The answers are never what I expectโand thatโs the best part. ๐ Then, students reflect. They complete a few simple but thoughtful prompts about their own behavior, their emotions, and what theyโve learned. ๐ Next, we share (if they want to). I never make sharing mandatory. But Iโm always surprised by how many students want to. ๐ Finally, we put up the poster. Itโs a small reminder that kindness and responsibility go beyond the classroom. ๐ถ One more idea: If you have a therapy dog visit your class, have students read their reflections to the dog. Youโd be amazed at how much more open and engaged they become! What Other Teachers Have Said โ โI used this before our first therapy dog visit, and it made a huge difference in how students behaved around the dog.โ โ โItโs simple but powerful. The class discussions that came from this were amazing.โ โ โPerfect for social-emotional learning, even without a therapy dog!โ Why This Activity Sticks with Students At the end of the day, this isnโt just another worksheet. Itโs a way to help students slow down, think about their actions, and reflect on what really mattersโwhether thatโs how they interact with a therapy dog, a classmate, or the world around them. ๐ฅ Give it a tryโyou might be surprised by what your students come up with. ๐ถโจ ๐ Warmly, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Dinosaur Activities - Are Dinosaurs and Birds Related?
Research, Science, Life Sciences, Animals, Biology, Elementary, High School, Homeschool Resources, Middle School, Centers, Activities, Projects, Lesson Plans, Teacher Tools
Are Birds and Dinosaurs Related? This activity pack helps students explore the scientific evidence behind the connection between birds and dinosaurs. Instead of simply presenting one viewpoint, this resource encourages students to analyze the evidence and form their own conclusions. I developed this project with my son, who has Autism, in mind. He struggles with writing and organizing his thoughts on paper. Using sorting mat activities reduced frustration and made learning more engaging. As a result, I began creating similar resources to help other teachers and parents make learning more interactive and enjoyable. Whatโs Included in This Activity Pack? Sorting Activities โ Helps students categorize and compare information. Research and Writing Assignments โ Encourages deeper exploration and evidence-based conclusions. Critical Thinking Development โ Supports analytical thinking skills. Dinosaur Recognition Practice โ Reinforces knowledge of different dinosaur types. Comparison of Bird-Hipped vs. Lizard-Hipped Dinosaurs โ Explores their significance in relation to evolutionary theory. Bonus Activities: Realistic Dinosaur Coloring Pages Dinosaur Information Sheets for guided research Total: 41 Pages Learning Objectives By completing all activities, students will: Identify and describe at least one difference between bird-hipped and lizard-hipped dinosaurs. Name at least two bird-hipped and two lizard-hipped dinosaurs. List at least two facts about Archaeopteryx. Compare feathers and scales by identifying at least two key differences. Explain the difference between cold-blooded and warm-blooded animals. Research both sides of the "birds from dinosaurs" debate and write a five-paragraph report comparing bird-hipped and lizard-hipped dinosaurs. Analyze whether the evidence logically supports the idea that birds evolved from dinosaurs. This resource provides structured, hands-on learning that supports student inquiry and engagement.

Scientist Richard Dawkins - Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Version (PDF & H5P) Richard Dawkins โ Genes, Evolution, and the โSelfish Geneโ Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Exercises (PDF + H5P) ๐งฌ๐ This 45-minute resource introduces students in grades 9โ12 to Richard Dawkins โ an evolutionary biologist best known for popularizing the idea of the โselfish gene.โ By the time students reach upper secondary levels, they usually have a solid understanding of natural selection. Dawkins' perspective invites them to look one level deeper: not just at organisms competing for survival, but at genes as the driving force behind evolution . His work sparked a lot of discussion โ not only in science, but also in philosophy and ethics. To help students engage with these more abstract ideas, Iโve put together a structured and accessible lesson. It includes a short informational text, a fact sheet, quiz questions with answers, and a creative partner task. The materials are available in color and black-and-white versions, plus thereโs a digital H5P version for interactive use. Whatโs included: A student-friendly overview of Richard Dawkins and the core ideas of The Selfish Gene A fact sheet to help students organize key concepts Quiz questions with solutions for quick comprehension checks A partner task where students create and exchange questions Available as printable PDF and interactive H5P version ๐ป Answer key included โ Iโve used this resource in upper-level biology and ethics courses โ especially when discussing how scientific ideas evolve and how they influence thinking beyond the lab. The material also opens up interesting conversations about the role of science communication. Works well for individual tasks, pair work, or short discussion-based projects. ๐ Download now and bring the legacy of Richard Dawkins into your biology lessons today! ๐ Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? This Historical Fiction Genre Study Literature Circle Project is a 41-page resource designed for grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. as a culminating project after a literature circle or book group experience focused on historical fiction. It can be modified for lower or higher grades as well. Historical fiction is an important genre for students for a several reasons, including making the study of history more engaging and interesting by making history come alive. Students also develop an understanding of how historical periods connect to today. It also provides students opportunities tothink critically about the events and people from the past, analyze and interpret historical events, and understand different perspectives.
