"Pride and Prejudice" Booklet Project

"Pride and Prejudice" Booklet Project
ELA, Literature, Writing, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, Literacy Readers, Teacher Tools

If your students are reading Pride and Prejudice, you may be on the hunt for all the resources to pair alongside this renowned novel. This resource is a Pride and Prejudice Booklet Project that was designed to give your students the opportunity to reflect on the text and show what they know. For the teacher: Print the booklet pages back to back. The pages should be cut on the dotted lines and around the tabs. Put the pages in order and staple. It would be best to staple in one corner or at the top of the booklet. Stapling on the sides will cut off part of the project. Once the book is properly assembled, students will be able to work from page to page. The pages are as follows: 1. Characters. Students will illustrate one of three characters listed. They will select a quote by the character and explain the importance of the character. 2. Mini-Essays. There are 3 short writing prompts for students to respond to. 3. Characters. Students are presented with 3 characters. They will list their strengths, weaknesses, and a quote from that character. 4. Style & Tone. Students will reflect on how irony, humor and wit are used in the novel. 5. Theme. Students will choose a theme and explain how it develops in the story. 6. Symbols and Morals. Students will explain how the houses symbolize the inward character of 3 characters. Students will write what they think is the moral of the story. This resource was designed for 6th grade students and higher. This is great for independent work, but students may also enjoy discussing pages with a partner before formulating their individual answers. An answer key is not included, as most pages are reflective writing pieces. CRQ OF OTTOMANS AND MONGOLS & Video Lessons: Regents Global 9

CRQ OF OTTOMANS AND MONGOLS & Video Lessons: Regents Global 9
Social Studies, History, History: World, Grade 9, 10, Teacher Tools, Assessments

CRQ OF OTTOMANS AND MONGOLS & Video Lessons: Regents Global 9 This product is a constructed-response question (“CRQ”) in the format of the new New York State Regents examination in Global History and Geography. The CRQ calls upon the student to examine historical sources (I use exclusively primary sources) by providing historical or geographic context, identifying the point of view, intended audience, or purpose of a document and then using the two documents in either compare-contrast, cause-effect analysis, or turning point identification. I advocate a strategy of assigning one CRQ in each unit of study in grades nine and ten without access to notes. I used this as one of the tests at the end of a unit of study. I would tell students about what kinds of documents would appear and what historical context they should be able to recall in advance. It is a challenging task for them. The first challenge for novices is to understand what it means to provide context. Faced with the question “What is the historical context of this document?”, beginners will retell what the document says. The reason for this mistake is that, since they were little kids, teachers have asked them to relate what a text means to prove they understood it. [ Read more at the Innovation blog ] Product includes: 1. Student version 2. Teacher version with suggested answers 3. Passcode to video lesson students can use to prepare the task. Documents: A Visit to the Wife of Suleiman the Magnificent (Translated from a Genoese Letter), c. 1550 Passcode Lesson: Mongols, Conduits of Culture About Innovation Passcodes Passcodes let your students access selected lessons in my own virtual classroom at InnovationAssessments.com . ELA, Writing, Grade 9, 10, 11, 12, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Are you implementing a C-E-R (claim, evidence, reasoning) writing framework in your class? Want to make sure that your students know the framework forwards and back? This double-sided review worksheet will show you quickly which students are still struggling with identifying claims, evidence, and reasoning--whether they're online or in person! Students will identify all printables /parts-of-and-anatomy-of">parts of the framework, match claims to appropriate evidence, and brainstorm real-life situations in which claims, evidence, and reasoning can be utilized. On the first page, students will use highlighters to identify the claims, evidence, and reasoning in four different passages. These passages are on a variety of topics, so students can see C-E-R's wide range of applicability. On the second page, students will match claims with their evidence. Then, they will brainstorm three real-life scenarios in which being able to argue and support that argument would be beneficial. If you're just introducing the concept of C-E-R to your students, this worksheet makes for a great overview of the concept. If your students know--or should know!--all about the framework, but need a refresher, this works great for that as well.

6th Grade Math Bingo Review Games

6th Grade Math Bingo Review Games
, Grade 6, Activities, Games

This file contains 2 8-question bingo games for 6th grade math review. The skills covered are: ratio, proportions, deposits, distance in the coordinate plane, unit rate, order of operations, percent, evaluate, solve equations, missing values in inequalities, real world problem for division of fracitons, multiplication of decimals, greatest common factor. Directions for BINGO. Have students to make a 4 x 4 game board. They will fill in the answers in random order. This way everyone has a different board but all of the answers. Put up the first 2 questions. When all students finish #1, you can change to the second page, which still has #2 but also #3 for those that have also finished #2. This allows some students to work ahead when ready. When everyone has finished #2, move to the next screen, which has #3 and #4 as some students will be ready for #4. Continue in this way. Students can use a highlighter to mark their answers. Use a different color for each game. (Don’t have them completely mark out their answers with pen or pencil in the first game because they will use this same board in the second game.) Students MUST show their work on paper to get credit for a BINGO. For the problems that don’t have work to show, they must explain their answer on paper. The first game uses questions #1-8. In a regular size class there should be 5-6 bingos after this many questions. You can start the second game #9-10 or save that for another class time. Just make sure students save their board because both games use the same board. I like to give a piece of candy (like jolly rancher) for BINGOs. I always help students with their problems since I use BINGO as practice not as an assessment.

Finding Final Sounds in Words

Finding Final Sounds in Words
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Isolating ending sounds builds phonemic awareness, a key early reading skill. These worksheets give students practice identifying final sounds in simple words through fun fill-in-the-blank activities. Each page displays 10 illustrated words with the final letters missing. Using the picture and initial sounds as clues, children must determine and write in the last letter to complete the terms. For example, seeing a picture of a p-i- _ would cue writing in "g" to spell "pig". Filling in missing sounds reinforces sounding out abilities critical for spelling and reading. Recognizing final phonemes aids rhyming and phonics skills too. These worksheets allow assessment of skill progression with CVC and CCVC words. Parents and teachers can incorporate the pages into lessons or independent practice. This engaging sounding out exercise promotes mastery of those tricky ending sounds in a self-checking format. Emerging readers will delight in using pictures and their growing phonics skills to finish the words. The hands-on practice cements foundations that make decoding smooth and automatic.
