The Imitation Game (2014): Complete Movie Guide

The Imitation Game (2014): Complete Movie Guide
Social Studies, ELA, History, History: World, Grade 8, 9, 10, 11, Games, Activities

The Imitation Game is a 2014 historical drama film directed by Morten Tyldum and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, and Matthew Goode. The film is based on the real-life story of Alan Turing, a brilliant mathematician and cryptanalyst who played a crucial role in cracking the German Enigma code during World War II. The movie is divided into three different time periods, each with its own narrative thread. The first follows Turing's early years as a socially awkward and highly intelligent young man who struggles to fit in with his peers. The second thread focuses on Turing's work during World War II, where he is recruited by the British government to help break the Nazi's secret Enigma code, which they used to encrypt all of their military communications. Turing's team is made up of a diverse group of codebreakers, including Joan Clarke, a brilliant mathematician who becomes Turing's closest friend and confidante. Despite initial setbacks and bureaucratic interference, Turing and his team eventually succeed in cracking the Enigma code, providing the Allies with vital intelligence that helps them win the war. The third and final thread of the film takes place in 1952, several years after the war has ended, when Turing is arrested and charged with homosexuality, which was then a crime in Britain. Despite his contributions to the war effort, Turing is persecuted and forced to undergo chemical castration as punishment. The film ends tragically, with Turing ultimately taking his own life. Overall, The Imitation Game is a gripping and moving tribute to one of the 20th century's most brilliant minds, whose achievements were overshadowed by his persecution and tragic end. This movie guide comes with a character reference guide, 22-questions, and a short introduction into the movie. This product also includes a completed teacher key. Ready to use!! The topics for this movie include: World War II, Battle of Britain, The Engima *** The movie also covers topics related to the LGBQT community. Thumbnail clipart credit: By PrincePadania

Physics Newton's Law of Gravitation Subplots

Physics Newton's Law of Gravitation Subplots
Science, Physics, Grade 10, 11, Teacher Tools, Assessments

Have you encountered substitute teachers who struggled with comprehending high school physics textbooks? This substitute plan aims to address this issue by introducing an engaging WebQuest to challenge your students. Objective The project focuses on applying Newton's Law of Gravitation by utilizing a website that visualizes stars and planets visible at any specific date, time, and location in recent history. Originating in the mid-1600s, Isaac Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation revolutionized the understanding of gravitational attraction between two objects based on their masses and separation distance. Through this project, students will explore and compare gravitational forces between objects of varying sizes placed at different proximities. Utilize the provided website to observe the celestial configuration on the date and time of your birth. HS-ESS1-4:Orbital Motions Use mathematical or computational representationsto predict the motion of orbiting objects in the solar system. (Scale, Proportion, and Quantity) Clarification Statement:Emphasis is on Newtonian gravitational laws governing orbital motions, which apply to human-made satellites as well as planets and moons. Assessment Boundary:Mathematical representations for the gravitational attraction of bodies and Kepler’s Laws of orbital motions should not deal with more than two bodies, nor involve calculus.

DR Blend Find and Colour Phonics Worksheet to Develop Phonemic
Special Resources, ELA, Special Education Needs (SEN), Language Development, Phonics, Kindergarten, Preschool, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

This DR fun, Find and Color worksheet for initial blends is excellent for acquainting children orally with initial consonant blends and helping them develop the necessary phonemic awareness in preparation for more advanced blending work, involving four phonemes. What is included in the pack? One PDF sheet for the DR blend. This is a sample of our pack of 20 activities covering common initial blends which can be found here in one PDF file: less clutter on your computer! What do the worksheets involve? Pupils are instructed to combine the two letters on each worksheet and then look for objects that start with that consonant blend. Then, these items ought to be coloured, leaving the others uncoloured. Children can easily work on the sheets unaided once they have been instructed, although, with those children with special needs, it is strongly suggested that an adult works with the child for maximum benefit. How to use The introduction of the concept of initial blends needs to be done thoroughly. When I work with children, especially those with a special need, I first like to teach children to blend two consonant letters. Then I work on developing the children's phonemic awareness: that being the ability to hear two consonant letters blended at the beginning of a word, easily. This is difficult for some pupils and takes a lot of practice. These worksheets can assist by first encouraging students to blend the two consonant letters and then by helping them to hear the blend at the start of a word. As often as you can, practice blending the letters in each initial blend and encourage the students to follow suit. I find that modelling is key at this stage. Who are the initial blends Find and colour worksheets for? Young learners Those with a special need Due to their non-babyish nature , they can be successfully used with older ESL/EFL pupils. Answer keys: The answer key is included on the sheet, in small print.
