Daily Calendar Routine: High and Low Temperature Measurement K 1st 2nd

Here’s a quick way to include real-world math , finding the difference (subtraction), and number lines in your daily calendar routine each morning in kindergarten, 1st grade, or 2nd grade! Have your students record the day's high and the day's low temperature in your city on this large thermometer. Then you can find the difference : which is the daily temperature range! INCLUDES METRIC (℃) & IMPERIAL (℉) How to Use this Calendar Routine: • Note: This product is created to be printed on large 11x17 paper! • Print a large thermometer (with your preferred units C or F) in colour. • Laminate the thermometer. • Then hang it up as part of your morning calendar routine. • Each day, you will look up the day's high and the day's low temperature in your city. • With your students, record the date, the high temperature, and the low temperature on the laminated chart using a whiteboard marker. • Have one or two students come up to circle the high & low temperature on the thermometer. • Then students can help you calculate the difference between these two temperatures to determine the daily temperature range. Many strategies can be used: Counting the dashes in between the two numbers Using mental math or known benchmarks (make a 10) Using the standard subtraction algorithm How to Use This as a Worksheet: • You could also print a thermometer on legal-sized paper to use as a worksheet for your students to complete. This allows assessment of their knowledge of number lines measurement finding the difference integers (if using Celsius in the winter) Grades to Use With: This daily calendar routine is created for students in kindergarten, 1st grade, or 2nd grade. It could also be used in older elementary grades when introducing integers (if you use Celsius in the winter months). Finally, it could be used in life skills classes where appropriate. Communication Vocabulary Flashcards For Preschool, Montessori, and Kindergarten Bulletin Boards I created these communication vocabulary flashcards to help young children express their needs, feelings, and ideas in a simple and visual way. They work well especially for preschool, Montessori, and kindergarten classrooms, but they’re also helpful at home. All the picture cards inside are easy to understand and designed for children who are still developing speech, have limited language, or need extra support communicating. You can use them on bulletin boards, communication boards, and during small-group activities to encourage everyday real-life communication. I created this resource with very young children in my mind. What’s inside? This resource includes 40+ colorful picture cards with clear images and simple words. The vocabulary focuses on what young children need most during their day, including: Actions: bounce, walk, climb, crawl, spin, and more Emotions: happy, sad, mad, tired, thirsty etc. Questions: who, what, where and more Basic needs & words: yes, no, help, stop, more, finished etc. Objects: ball, toys, numbers, letters (vowels and consonants), toilet etc. People: mommy, daddy, sister, brother, teacher, friends etc. Food Habits: Vegan or Vegetarian Alphabet cards: consonants and vowels grouped separately for easy organization Each card includes a clear picture with one simple word to support understanding and communication. In this collaborative poster, the class will come together to create a poster that stands for what each student believes in. The poster has a rainbow with balloons and stars and the quote that is spelled out is "In our class, we are kind and respectful." Each student will get to color a piece of this puzzle. There are 30 pieces. The poster will measure 23 inches height by 35 inches wide. This will be a fun activity for each student to contribute into one large poster. This poster can be posted in the classroom, on the bulletin board on on the door. This poster is great for first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grades. In this file, you will receive 30 student pages with directions on each page, a full color picture of the outcome, a picture of the black and white version as well as the black and white version that is divided into 30 pieces. In the beginning of the school year, it is important to do activities that build community and shared values.
