Worm Composting in the School Garden – Info Posters for the Classroom Visual Guide to Worm Composting for Grades 3–8 🪱🌿 Worm box in the school garden - Compost - Worm bin This set of three info posters provides a clear and age-appropriate introduction to worm composting. Designed for students in grades 3–6, the materials explain how a worm bin works, what can go into it, and how it contributes to sustainable gardening. The posters are ideal for classrooms with a school garden or composting project. They serve as a visual aid to help students understand the composting process and the role of worms in breaking down organic waste. The language is simple, and the illustrations are easy to follow – even for younger learners or multilingual groups. What’s included: Three printable posters (PDF) with clear illustrations and explanations Topics covered: setting up a worm bin, suitable materials for composting, and the benefits of worm composting Suitable for display in the classroom, garden area, or near the compost bin These posters support hands-on learning and can be integrated into science lessons on ecosystems, recycling, or environmental stewardship. I’ve used them in combination with a real worm box project – the students loved checking what the worms were doing and became much more aware of food waste. This resource is available in English and is designed to complement practical activities in the school garden. It’s also a nice visual reminder that even small actions – like feeding worms – can make a difference for the environment. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Biology teacher (Chemistry teacher, Math teacher) Did You Know? Dinosaur Fossils Poster

Dinosaur Fossils Poster
Science, Life Sciences, Animals, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Posters, Classroom Decor

A fun hand-painted watercolor game where you can find your fossils. To create a tactile finished item, I highly recommend printing onto high-quality paper. I like to use watercolor paper because every piece looks and feels like an original painting. To make a reusable version of the game, laminate the game boards and uses wipe clean markers.

Mathematics Binder Covers – Templates for Classroom Use Organize your Math handouts, notes, and units with visual clarity Simple and flexible templates to help organize your Mathematics materials In my math classes, it can be a challenge to keep things organized - especially when it comes to multiple units, lab notes, worksheets and review materials. To make it easier for my students and myself, I designed these simple binder sleeves. There are 12 different pages. The covers have a clean, colorful blob layout that is friendly but not distracting. I usually print them out and use them as cover sheets or as dividers in folders for students or teachers. They also work well for digital learning environments, e.g. as section covers in PDF files or on classroom platforms. I like that the color scheme allows students to quickly find what they are looking for, and it brings a little more structure to a subject that is often riddled with formulas and technical terms. When used as cover sheets, students can choose their favorite color for their cover sheet. This resource is handy - and has saved me a lot of time in lesson preparation and follow-up. What’s included: 12 math-themed cover pages different colors zu choose as a cover sheet as a divider between the individual Mathematics topics I've printed these on colored paper for my own binder and also used them digitally in student notebooks. Works well for both teacher organization and student-facing materials. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Math teacher (Chemistry teacher, Biology teacher) in Germany Did You Know? Therapy Dog - Helping Students Reflect with Therapy Dogs 🐶💭

Therapy Dog - Helping Students Reflect with Therapy Dogs 🐶💭

Helping Students Reflect with Therapy Dogs 🐶💭 There’s something special about the presence of a therapy dog in the classroom. Even the most restless students seem to relax. Some kids who rarely speak up suddenly open up. And for many, it’s the first time they’ve had a chance to experience the unconditional support that a dog offers. But what if we took that experience and turned it into a learning moment? That’s exactly what this reflection activity does. It helps students think about what kindness means, why responsibility matters, and how their actions affect others—whether those others have two legs or four. Why This Activity Feels Different ✔ It gets students thinking, not just answering. It’s not about memorizing facts. It’s about pausing for a moment and reflecting on simple but meaningful questions. ✔ It connects emotions with actions. Why do therapy dogs have rules? Why does kindness matter? These questions lead to unexpectedly deep discussions. ✔ It’s easy for any grade level. Younger kids can draw their answers, while older students might write or discuss. No one feels left out. ✔ It works with or without a therapy dog. Even if your school doesn’t have one, this still sparks conversations about empathy and responsibility. ✔ No prep required. Just print it out, hand it to students, and let them think. How I Use It in My Classroom 📌 First, we talk. I ask, “How do animals teach us about kindness?” or “What do therapy dogs need from us?” The answers are never what I expect—and that’s the best part. 📌 Then, students reflect. They complete a few simple but thoughtful prompts about their own behavior, their emotions, and what they’ve learned. 📌 Next, we share (if they want to). I never make sharing mandatory. But I’m always surprised by how many students want to. 📌 Finally, we put up the poster. It’s a small reminder that kindness and responsibility go beyond the classroom. 🐶 One more idea: If you have a therapy dog visit your class, have students read their reflections to the dog. You’d be amazed at how much more open and engaged they become! What Other Teachers Have Said ✔ “I used this before our first therapy dog visit, and it made a huge difference in how students behaved around the dog.” ✔ “It’s simple but powerful. The class discussions that came from this were amazing.” ✔ “Perfect for social-emotional learning, even without a therapy dog!” Why This Activity Sticks with Students At the end of the day, this isn’t just another worksheet. It’s a way to help students slow down, think about their actions, and reflect on what really matters—whether that’s how they interact with a therapy dog, a classmate, or the world around them. 📥 Give it a try—you might be surprised by what your students come up with. 🐶✨ 📍 Warmly, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? I teach with a certified therapy dog, and together we create a positive and inspiring learning environment. 🐶✨

Chemical Elements – Matching Pairs Game & Flashcards (1–118)

Chemical Elements – Matching Pairs Game & Flashcards (1–118)
STEM, Science, Chemistry, Physics, Life Sciences, Montessori, Basic Science, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Teacher Tools, Flashcards, Classroom Decor, Door Decor, Bulletin Boards, Posters

Chemical Elements – Matching Pairs Game & Flashcards (1–118) 118 cards for learning the periodic table A visual and interactive way to explore the periodic table 🧪🧠 This printable card set includes all 118 chemical elements and can be used either as a classic memory game or as flashcards for independent practice. Each card features the element’s symbol, atomic number, and name – providing a clear and accessible entry point into the world of chemistry. The cards are designed to be used flexibly. You can print them twice to play Matching Pairs (also known as Memory®), where students turn over cards and try to find identical pairs. This helps improve concentration and recall while reinforcing students’ familiarity with element symbols and atomic numbers. What’s included: 118 cards (PDF format) – one for each chemical element Each card includes: element symbol, name, and atomic number Use them as a memory game (print twice) or flashcards for review Black-and-white format allows for optional color coding (e.g. element groups or states of matter) In my classroom: I’ve used this resource with grades 7–10, both during our unit on the periodic table and as a review activity. Some groups like to sort the cards by group or period before playing. Others enjoy using them competitively, seeing who can name the most elements based on symbol alone. There’s also room for differentiation: stronger students can work without a periodic table for support, while others use it alongside. The black-and-white version is copy-friendly and works well if you want students to color-code elements (e.g. metals vs. non-metals). You can also adapt the game for faster learners by having them group elements or research additional properties. This is a low-prep activity you can use again and again – whether as a center activity, partner task, or quick review before a test. Just print, cut, and play. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from @Lernfitness Did You Know? I teach with a certified therapy dog, and together we create a positive and welcoming learning environment. 🐶

Chemistry Class Guidelines – Editable in PowerPoint & KeyNote A clear and customizable set of rules to start your chemistry class off right 🧪📋 Whether you're starting with a new class, taking over a course mid-year, or simply want to reset expectations, having a set of clear, student-friendly guidelines can make a big difference. This editable resource gives you the flexibility to present your classroom rules in a structured, visually consistent format – while still adapting the content to your own teaching style. The rules cover core areas of classroom life: from behavior during experiments to notebook organization and grading criteria. You can choose between 12 calming "boho" color themes or two clean black-and-white versions – depending on whether you want something simple, customizable, or a bit more colorful for student binders or digital notebooks. What’s included: Editable PowerPoint and KeyNote files Non-editable PDF for quick printing 12 color themes + 2 black-and-white layouts Sections included: – Materials for class – Homework – Absences – Notebook organization – Classroom behavior – Experiments – Grading How I use it in class: I introduce these rules at the beginning of the term and give students a printed copy or add them to their digital notebooks (e.g. GoodNotes or Notability). Some even choose their favorite color version and use it as a cover page in their binder. We go over each rule together and I invite students to ask questions or offer suggestions, which helps build a shared understanding of expectations. This isn’t a rigid rule sheet – it’s a flexible tool you can shape to fit your classroom. Whether you're teaching in a lab or more theory-based setting, it gives your students something they can refer back to all year long. Just open, adjust, and you’re ready to go. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from @Lernfitness Did You Know? Chemistry Blackboard Cards – Chemical Elements 1–118 Visual support for teaching the periodic table in grades 7–11 🧪🧲 This printable set contains blackboard-sized cards for all 118 chemical elements, designed to make the periodic table more accessible and interactive in your classroom. Each card includes the element’s name, atomic number, and chemical symbol in a clean, easy-to-read format – perfect for whiteboard work, displays, and hands-on sorting tasks. The cards are arranged two per A4 page and can be printed, laminated, and reused across many lessons. I’ve used them to build a large-scale classroom periodic table, support sorting games by group or period, and even for spontaneous quizzes at the board. What’s included: 118 blackboard cards (PDF format) Each card shows: element name, chemical symbol, atomic number 2 cards per A4 page for easy printing Black-and-white, ideal for printing and possible color-coding How it’s used in class: These cards are great for front-of-class instruction but also work well in group activities or as a station-based task. Students can work in teams to arrange the elements in correct order, match symbols to names, or explore relationships between groups and periods. Because the design is simple and consistent, students can focus on the content rather than being distracted by layout. The cards support visual learning and active participation. They’re especially useful for mixed-ability classes: more confident students might work from memory, while others use a printed periodic table for support. You can also let students take on teaching roles by explaining selected elements to peers at the board. This is a practical tool for visualizing chemistry concepts – no extra prep required beyond printing and cutting. Laminate for longer use. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from @Lernfitness Did You Know? Units of Measure Word Wall

Units of Measure Word Wall
Math, Measurements, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, Word Walls, Classroom Decor

If you are a math or science teacher, finding resources that best serve your students is of the utmost importance! This is aUnits of Measure Word Wallthat is filled with practical measurements that your students use on a daily basis (often without realizing it). Both teachers and students greatly benefit from having a quick visual reference to topics during instruction or class discussions. This Word Wall is printed in bold and bright colors to stand out in your classroom. It consists of 28 units of measure, plus their conversions. Cards will include a title, unit conversion, unit abbreviation, and box at the bottom right-hand corner for a sheet number. The sheet number is purposely left blank to give you the flexibility to rearrange sheets and number them however you’d like. Some sheets will need to be combined because they are too big to fit on one sheet. An “incomplete” border indicates topic extends to multiple pages. For a long lasting resource, after printing, I suggest laminating each one of the pages. If wall space allows, post sheets as you cover them in class and leave them up throughout the year. If space is limited, print sheets half-size or only leave the most pertinent sheets up after finishing the unit. In addition to using them as posters, this resource may be used at centers , or as guidance for individual work, or for group work. The topics included are: --Length and distance (8 different units + unit conversions) --Weight & Mass (6 different units + unit conversions) --Volume (11 different units + unit conversions) --Temperature (3 different units + unit conversion formulas) I hope you enjoy!
