Division & Long Division Practice Questions - Age 9-12

Division & Long Division Practice Questions - Age 9-12
Math, Multiplication and Division, Multiplication, Grade 4, 5, 6, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

A comprehensive pack of division and long division practice questions, with answers, that are designed to help kids, age 9-12, get to grips with all areas of division. The exercises include questions on: - simple division facts and mental division skills - division with and without remainders - division with a missing dividend or divisor - prime numbers - factors and HCF - dividing by 10, 100, 1000 - long division - written division problems We have devised these packs as a supplementary aid to learning maths. They have been created to help teach the problem areas that children struggle with most. Through my work as a tutor, I’ve discovered that children would have problems with particular areas in maths and would find it hard to get their head round difficult concepts. I found that most textbooks contained only a couple of pages of exercises to work through, which does not solve the problem. Therefore, I have devised some structured packs that deal with each subject in greater detail, giving the child loads of examples to work through. If they work through the packs ‘the penny will drop’ and they will grasp the concept. This is a great resource and children will love practising division alongside the kids of Mathsland High - Doubtful Darren Divides, Felicity Factor, Petite Penelope Prime and Loud Lenny Long Division. Answers included.

Dot Marker Counting and Skip Counting Printables for Primary Students (Early Multiplication)

Dot Marker Counting and Skip Counting Printables for Primary Students (Early Multiplication)
Special Resources, Special Education Needs (SEN), Math, Fact Families, Patterns, Early Math, Multiplication and Division, Division, Numbers, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

Help your primary students practice counting and skip counting as they develop their number sense and numerical fluency. These fun printables offer excellent fine motor practice for junior students. They could also be implemented as a precursor to multiplication and times table learning. They help students see patterns and relationships when skip counting. How to Use : Provide your students with dot markers (bingo markers). The student begins at zero and places dots in each circle as they count or skip count aloud. Extensions: Encourage your students to look for any numerical patterns : For example, "What is the first number on each worksheet?" "What do you observe about the last number? How is it related to the first number?" "Are there patterns when you look at odd and even numbers?" "What do you see in the ones spot when you count by 5s?" "If you look at the same place on each page, do you see a pattern?" Grades to Use With: These pages could be used by students in preschool to grade 3 depending on how you implement them. In preschool, you may just use the counting by one worksheet to see if students know number order from 1-10. In kindergarten, students could try counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s. In grade 1 and 2, students can work on counting by 3s, 4s, and more. And in grade three, you can use each sheet as an introduction to each times table, one at a time. What's Included: 11 Page PDF- ready to print and dot! Title Page Pages for counting by 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s, and 10s If you enjoy this product, check out other math activities in my store: Grace Under Pressure Crayon Math: Hands On Multiplication and Division Practice Hands On Fraction Activity: Improper Fractions and Mixed Numbers with Egg Cartons

Divide 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers with & without remainders

Divide 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers with & without remainders
Math, Multiplication and Division, Multiplication, Grade 3, 4, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

These no frills sets of Worksheets provide an almost unlimited number of practice questions dividing a 2-digit whole number by a single digit whole number. All the questions are laid out in the standard long division format so pupils become familiar with this presentation for when they meet large multi-digit divisions later on. Worksheet Set 1: Division of 2 digit numbers without remainders You can choose to focus a whole page on one divisor from 2 to 9 Worksheet Set 2: Division of 2 digit numbers with remainders As with the first worksheet questions you choose a page of questions with one divisor from 2 to 9 Worksheet Set 3: Division of 2 digit numbers MIX Now there is a mix of divisors from 2 to 9 on one page. One set of questions has no remainders, the other has remainders. These worksheet sets are organized in such a way that you can plan a progression of work based upon the needs of individual (or groups of your) pupils. So for example starting with Worksheet Set 1, you can focus on a specific divisor where a pupil needs to build their strength. At the same time of course they are working on their multiplication skills. Having built their confidence across as many divisors as possible, they can then move onto Worksheet Set 2 to work on division with remainders, adding an extra step to the process, which again is good preparation for longer multi-digit division where there is a 'carry over' to think about. Worksheet Set 3 with a mix of divisors could be used in two ways. One way would be as an assessment before starting Set 1 or 2so you can see which divisors your pupils need to practice on. The other potential use is as a regular piece of homework or lesson filler to use throughout the year so the skills learnt are kept alive. How many worksheets are in each set ? Virtually unlimited . At the click of a button all numbers are randomised, so the questions change every time so you can create as many new worksheets you need. If a pupil needs lots of practice dividing by 9 ...... just click the button and you have a new page. There will of course be a lot more variety with the worksheets with a remainder. As these worksheets need little explanation, they are ideal if you need to leave work for a replacement teacher. Answers can be found on the second page of every worksheet, automatically generated when you create a new worksheet. Note These resources are PDF documents and work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers with the randomising buttons also working via a touchscreen (PC or Mac)or on an Interactive Whiteboard.

Finding Prime & Composite Numbers using Divisibility Rules

Finding Prime & Composite Numbers using Divisibility Rules
Math, Multiplication and Division, Multiplication, Numbers, Grade 4, 5, 6, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

These resources lay a solid foundation in the realm of mathematical learning, exploring alternative methods beyond standard algorithms in order to identify prime and composite numbers. As an example instead of having to go through the standard algorithm of long division to determine whether a (large) number is divisible by e.g. 4 we actually only need to look at the last 2 digits in the number, and if they are divisible by 4 then the whole number is divisible by 4. In this resource pack student will have the opportunity to learn these shortcuts for numbers from 2 to 13. Worksheets The collection is divided into 3 separate sets: Divisibility Rules applied to Even Numbers: 4, 6, 8, and 12. Divisibility Rules applied to Odd Numbers: 7, 9, 11, and 13. Divisibility Rules applied to Prime Numbers: 2, 3, 5, and 7. For each set of worksheets, you have the flexibility to select whether your students practice these rules with three-digit numbers, four-digit numbers, or five-digit numbers. How many worksheets are in each set ? Lots and lots . At the click of a button all numbers are randomised, so the questions change every time. This will allow you to create as many new worksheets you will need for practice throughout the year (classwork, homework, revision, fillers etc) or even give small groups of students in your class different sets of questions either at the same level or differentiated . There will certainly be enough to ensure fluency in this topic. Answers found on the second page of every worksheet are automatically generated when you create a new worksheet. Support for the Worksheets Divisibility Guide A brief overview of the worksheets and additional material Divisibility Rules This is designed for use by teachers to help explain the rules for each of the divisors from 2 to 13 with each rule accompanied by illustrative examples. Divisibility A3 Poster A3 colored Poster for display or as a memory jogger for students when needed. Note These resources are PDF documents and work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers with the randomising buttons also working via a touchscreen (PC or Mac)or on an Interactive Whiteboard.

Multiplying Decimals - Where to put the Decimal Point

Multiplying Decimals - Where to put the Decimal Point
Math, Decimals, Multiplication and Division, Division, Grade 6, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

When multiplying 2 decimal numbers together, the usual procedure is to perform the multiplication and then, as the second and final step, decide where to put the decimal point. Placing the decimal point involves adding the number of decimal places of the original numbers, and this will tell you where to put the decimal point in answer. Here pupils will get lots of practice with placing the decimal point and will be excellent preparation for "Multiply Decimals using the Standard Algorithm" There are five sets of differentiated worksheets with questions presented horizontally AND in the standard format for multiplying decimals. In the initial four sets, the problems are set out so that pupils can see a progression from the multiplier being a unit , then a tenth, and finally a hundredth. The reason for this is that whilst learning the method of placing the decimal point students will get the opportunity to see any patterns that might show up in the answers. In the 5th set, the questions are presented in a random order A standout feature is the worksheet randomization. With a single click, educators can generate an entirely new set of questions, making it a renewable resource for the entire school year. Be it for classwork, revision, or homework, adaptability ensures students achieve proficiency in the topic. You could also use any of the worksheets to explain or introduce the subject to your class as you will have almost unlimited examples to work with and they will be different from the actual worksheets you hand out to your students. As these worksheets need little explanation and no preparation, they are ideal if you need to leave work for a substitute teacher. Answers found on the second page of every worksheet are automatically generated when you create a new worksheet . Lastly, it's essential to note that these resources are compatible PDF documents. They operate seamlessly with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on both Windows and Mac. Plus, the randomizing features are effortlessly accessible via touchscreen devices or interactive whiteboards.

Brain Burners Word Problems Packet

Brain Burners Word Problems Packet
Math, Multiplication and Division, Division, Order Of Operations, Place Value, Grade 3, Worksheets & Printables, Word Problems, Worksheets

This is a Brain Burners Word Problem Packet. These word problems are designed to allow students to use their own strategies for problem solving, regardless of how far from “typical” they might seem to you as an educator. You will be amazed at the ways students will find to get to a right answer. There is not one right answer for any of these problems. Students will fill in the missing pieces of the problem before solving them using any strategy that makes sense in their own brains. I generally use these as morning self-starters 1 or 2 times per week. You’ll want to do the first few as a group, showing examples of students who thought of different strategies, and doing a lot of talking about what you expect a final product to look like. Many students might be lost for the first several problems, but after seeing their classmates’ work, they will catch on. The first 20 brain burners are technically geared toward using addition and subtraction strategies (NBT), but higher-level students might use multiplication and division strategies as well. The next 20 are meant to follow the OA curriculum where students will use multiplication and division, but lower-level students may still opt for addition and subtraction. Students should be encouraged, if not required, to show their thought processes through pictures, graphs, charts, and/or equations. I will usually call on a few students to show their strategies and explain them to the class each time I do a brain burner, thus giving the rest of the class new ideas for problem solving. There are two formats for you to choose from. I prefer my students to have plenty of room to work with, but I know paper conservation is also important.

Dividing Fractions

Dividing Fractions
Math, Fractions, Multiplication and Division, Grade 5, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

The division of fractions combines several concepts. These worksheets focus on: 1. Converting between fractions and mixed numbers 2. Finding the largest common factor for fraction simplification 3. Applying the keep-change-flip method for fraction division The keep-change-flip approach , also known as the reciprocal method, is the core strategy for dividing fractions. Here's how it works: 1. Keep the first fraction as is 2. Change the division sign to multiplication 3. Flip the second fraction (find its reciprocal) This method works because dividing by a fraction is equivalent to multiplying by its reciprocal. The Worksheet Sets are as follows 1. Divide two Integers - This is to introduce and practice the keep-change-flip method in a simple context You then move step by step as follows 2. Divide an Integer by a Proper Fraction 3. Divide a Proper Fraction by an Integer 4. Divide two Proper Fractions 5. Divide two Fractions - Proper and Improper The accompanying guide explains the reasoning behind the keep-change-flip strategy, providing context and meaning to the process. This set of resources will form the basis of a further set of worksheets that focuses on dividing mixed numbers (also called mixed fractions). How many Worksheets in each Set ? Almost unlimited At the click of a button all numbers are randomised, so the questions change every time. This will allow you to create as many new worksheets you will need for practice throughout the year (classwork, homework, revision, fillers etc) or even give small groups of students in your class different sets of questions either at the same level or differentiated. There will certainly be enough to ensure fluency in this topic. As these worksheets need little explanation, they are ideal if you need to leave work for a replacement teacher. Answers can be found on the second page of every worksheet, automatically generated when you create a new worksheet. Note These resources are PDF documents and work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers with the randomising buttons also working via a touchscreen (PC or Mac) or on an Interactive Whiteboard.
