Division & Long Division Practice Questions - Age 9-12
Math, Multiplication and Division, Multiplication, Grade 4, 5, 6, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
A comprehensive pack of division and long division practice questions, with answers, that are designed to help kids, age 9-12, get to grips with all areas of division. The exercises include questions on: - simple division facts and mental division skills - division with and without remainders - division with a missing dividend or divisor - prime numbers - factors and HCF - dividing by 10, 100, 1000 - long division - written division problems We have devised these packs as a supplementary aid to learning maths. They have been created to help teach the problem areas that children struggle with most. Through my work as a tutor, I’ve discovered that children would have problems with particular areas in maths and would find it hard to get their head round difficult concepts. I found that most textbooks contained only a couple of pages of exercises to work through, which does not solve the problem. Therefore, I have devised some structured packs that deal with each subject in greater detail, giving the child loads of examples to work through. If they work through the packs ‘the penny will drop’ and they will grasp the concept. This is a great resource and children will love practising division alongside the kids of Mathsland High - Doubtful Darren Divides, Felicity Factor, Petite Penelope Prime and Loud Lenny Long Division. Answers included.

Divide 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers with & without remainders
Math, Multiplication and Division, Multiplication, Grade 3, 4, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
These no frills sets of Worksheets provide an almost unlimited number of practice questions dividing a 2-digit whole number by a single digit whole number. All the questions are laid out in the standard long division format so pupils become familiar with this presentation for when they meet large multi-digit divisions later on. Worksheet Set 1: Division of 2 digit numbers without remainders You can choose to focus a whole page on one divisor from 2 to 9 Worksheet Set 2: Division of 2 digit numbers with remainders As with the first worksheet questions you choose a page of questions with one divisor from 2 to 9 Worksheet Set 3: Division of 2 digit numbers MIX Now there is a mix of divisors from 2 to 9 on one page. One set of questions has no remainders, the other has remainders. These worksheet sets are organized in such a way that you can plan a progression of work based upon the needs of individual (or groups of your) pupils. So for example starting with Worksheet Set 1, you can focus on a specific divisor where a pupil needs to build their strength. At the same time of course they are working on their multiplication skills. Having built their confidence across as many divisors as possible, they can then move onto Worksheet Set 2 to work on division with remainders, adding an extra step to the process, which again is good preparation for longer multi-digit division where there is a 'carry over' to think about. Worksheet Set 3 with a mix of divisors could be used in two ways. One way would be as an assessment before starting Set 1 or 2so you can see which divisors your pupils need to practice on. The other potential use is as a regular piece of homework or lesson filler to use throughout the year so the skills learnt are kept alive. How many worksheets are in each set ? Virtually unlimited . At the click of a button all numbers are randomised, so the questions change every time so you can create as many new worksheets you need. If a pupil needs lots of practice dividing by 9 ...... just click the button and you have a new page. There will of course be a lot more variety with the worksheets with a remainder. As these worksheets need little explanation, they are ideal if you need to leave work for a replacement teacher. Answers can be found on the second page of every worksheet, automatically generated when you create a new worksheet. Note These resources are PDF documents and work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers with the randomising buttons also working via a touchscreen (PC or Mac)or on an Interactive Whiteboard.

Brain Burners Word Problems Packet
Math, Multiplication and Division, Division, Order Of Operations, Place Value, Grade 3, Worksheets & Printables, Word Problems, Worksheets
This is a Brain Burners Word Problem Packet. These word problems are designed to allow students to use their own strategies for problem solving, regardless of how far from “typical” they might seem to you as an educator. You will be amazed at the ways students will find to get to a right answer. There is not one right answer for any of these problems. Students will fill in the missing pieces of the problem before solving them using any strategy that makes sense in their own brains. I generally use these as morning self-starters 1 or 2 times per week. You’ll want to do the first few as a group, showing examples of students who thought of different strategies, and doing a lot of talking about what you expect a final product to look like. Many students might be lost for the first several problems, but after seeing their classmates’ work, they will catch on. The first 20 brain burners are technically geared toward using addition and subtraction strategies (NBT), but higher-level students might use multiplication and division strategies as well. The next 20 are meant to follow the OA curriculum where students will use multiplication and division, but lower-level students may still opt for addition and subtraction. Students should be encouraged, if not required, to show their thought processes through pictures, graphs, charts, and/or equations. I will usually call on a few students to show their strategies and explain them to the class each time I do a brain burner, thus giving the rest of the class new ideas for problem solving. There are two formats for you to choose from. I prefer my students to have plenty of room to work with, but I know paper conservation is also important.

Division with Arrays and Equal Groups - 3rd Grade
Math, Multiplication and Division, Multiplication, Grade 3, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
The introduction of multiplication in 3rd grade marks an important milestone in a child's mathematical development. Students transition from relying solely on counting strategies to understanding the relationship between repeated addition and multiplication. The resource covering " Multiplication with Groups, Arrays, and Repeated Addition - 3rd Grade" can be downloaded from here The next logical step afterwards is to approach the introduction of division in the same way, with visual support using Arrays and equal groupings. In fact by doing it this way, students will also get to see the connection between multiplication and division. Because division is the inverse, or “opposite,” of multiplication, Arrays help students understand how multiplication and division are related. For multiplication we want the product of two factors, in division are looking for a missing factor once you are given the other factor and the product, or in division terms a divisor and the dividend. Making their own arrays reinforces this relationship. Building arrays helps students see and think about the connection between the dividend, divisor and quotient and the building of the division equation. Grouping objects into equal sets reinforces the understanding of division as splitting into equal parts. Students learn that the total number of objects, the number of groups and number of items in each group can be connected and again expressed in a much more concise way with a division equation. For each of the methods above there are multiple levels of differentiation to choose from which are detailed in the accompanying Guide when you download this resource You can select from different ranges of numbers. You can select the amount of information your students are given before the actual building of the division equation. This means you have a wide range of worksheets to choose from that will allow you to set the level and pace of development according to the needs of your students. In fact you have 16 sets at your disposal. Remember also that your students can repeat a level more than once. There are 16 sets of worksheets which feature a randomization button. With a single click, educators can generate an entirely new set of questions , making it a renewable resource for the entire school year. Be it for classwork, revision, or homework, the adaptability ensures students achieve proficiency in the topic. Sometimes it can be difficult to explain to pupils exactly what they need to do on a worksheet. However, as you can change the questions instantly with a click of the button, you can show your students a worksheet on a whiteboard which will be different to the one you have given them. Each worksheet concludes with an automatically generated answer key on its second page, offering a quick reference point for educators. And if there's ever a need for a last-minute lesson or work for a substitute teacher, these sheets are a reliable fallback. Lastly, it's essential to note that these resources are compatible PDF documents. They operate seamlessly with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on both Windows and Mac. Plus, the randomizing features are effortlessly accessible via touchscreen devices or interactive whiteboards.
