What's inside this resource
Every answer in these multiplication crosswords is a product spelled out as a number word, so 57 goes in the grid as FIFTYSEVEN. Five puzzles move up the times tables: Twos, Threes and Tens; Fours and Sixes; Sevens and Eights; Nines, Elevens and Twelves; and a Two-Digit Challenge with facts such as 23 × 3. No product word repeats anywhere in the set, and each clue gives its letter count.
Each of the first four puzzle pages adds a Fact Trick card and a short Try It task that puts the trick to work: multiplying by ten, turnaround facts, doubling the fours to get eights, and finding a mistake with a nines digit check. Puzzle 5 ends with students writing a clue of their own. A Number Words helper page lists zero to twenty, the tens, tricky spellings like forty and ninety, and three steps for building a big number word.
