Creative Arts, Art, Drama, Grade 1, 2, 3, Activities
A Fall Play: The Tale of Johnny Appleseed is a play written with 25 parts for students in 1st-3rd grades. A Teaching Guide (11 pages in all) is designed to offer suggestions to utilize the play to the fullest extent, maximizing learning for students in and out of school. It's the perfect addition to your regular or special education, ESL, or Gifted/Talented curriculum and works well for homeschoolers, homework, summer enrichment, or after-school drama programs. Play Summary: What do the woodland animals (the rabbit, fox, birds, deer, snake, and bear cubs) know about how apple trees came to grow all over the countryside? A pioneer family, Native American Indians, and the trees also share important facts about Johnny Appleseed’s life. No wonder the well-known tale continues to be passed on. Children love animals and will delight in playing one either in a Readers' Theater or during an actual play production. How much fun is it to create an animal costume and to be an animal for the day! And what a great resource to read during the fall apple season! Check out the wide variety of my original plays (450+) with the opportunity to use them to reinforce Key Common Core Standards on this site.

Silly Dragon Crafts - Coloring - Bookmarks - Geometric Designs
Creative Arts, Geometry, Math, Shapes, Early Math, Patterns, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, Crafts, Activities, Centers, Projects, Coloring Pages, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
These dragons are so silly and so much fun for kids to color. As is this entire dragon crafts activity pack. Kids absolutely love these dragons as well with their simple, thick outlines, they are a great way to give your students a break from their work and also be used as a reward for good behavior and an assignment done well. Since so many kids nowadays love dinosaurs and dragons, I thought it would be fun to create a dragon crafts activity pack. The simple drawings are perfect for preschoolers and prereaders. The bookmark designs, which are smaller and more complex, can be enjoyed by older students as well. There are five different dragons on 8.5 x 11 for a total of 10 posters - 5 of the dragons contain a colored example that children can follow to help with color recognition. These do not have a color border. The other 5 dinosaurs are black and white by themselves and contain a colored border. Once colored, the posters can be used to decorate bulletin boards, classrooms, and home refrigerators. They could even be framed and given as gifts! They can be printed and used again and again! In addition, there are 6 double-sided bookmarks with different geometric designs, patterns, and dragon pictures for coloring and printing. Geometry is math, so without realizing it, when your students color in the geometric designs, they are in essence practicing math skills. You can ask your students to identify the shapes and patterns on the bookmarks while they are coloring. You can also teach about shapes and patterns while they are keeping their hands busy coloring them. This can be super helpful in reducing distractibility. The geometric designs are great for developing familiarity with shapes and patterns. Plus, bookmarks make great gifts and encourage reading. The format is pdf downloadable and there are 15 pages, including the cover page. There is no need for an answer key as this dragon craft activity pack is pure fun with a little arts and crafts and math snuck in.

This however required a lot of material and the unwelcomed task of lugging them all home with you to mark. But we used them because they were effective and allowed us to effectively assess our students understanding. NOW: Why use digital interactive notebooks? As prices decrease, many schools are moving towards a 1:1, computer-student ratio and are becoming digital, the way we teach needs to keep up. You don’t even need a class set of computer, a personal device (cell phone, laptop, tablet, etc. will work just as well). Digital interactive notebooks provide all the same means of organization and assessment but without the physical notebook. This… 1) Saves you from bringing them back and forth/storing them in your class. 2) Purchasing all the necessary supplies. 3) Having them get lost, misplace pages, etc. Once you purchase, you’ll get a direct link. This link will allow you to place your own copy of the digital notebook into your Google Drive folder. From there, simply distribute the file to your students. No notebooks, no glue, no scissors, not even a USB in sight. Everything is stored and can be assessed in the cloud from any computer in the world. If your students go on holiday, they can access it. If they’re sick, they can access it. What activities will you find inside my Digital Interactive Notebooks? • Interactive drag-and-drop activities • Embedded Videos that play inside the slides along with questions • Calculation questions • Audio recorders – students record and upload their own auditory answers to questions • Fill-in-the-blanks • Drawings – students create their own drawing then easily upload them to their slides using their device or computer • Research questions • Extension questions for early finishers, those wanting extra credit, or incorporated into the mainstream assignment • Vocabulary check on the entire unit • Lots more Click here to get immediate access to a sample file so you can see exactly what’s being offered → http://bit.ly/TWF-DINB . Keep in mind that the sample file is for my SPACE notebook but it does give you a good idea of how the resource is structured. What if my school won’t pay for Google products or access to Google Classroom? No problem, G-Suite as it’s called, is completely free and includes everything you’ll need to access your digital notebooks. What if your students don’t have internet access for some reason? These notebooks can easily be made available off-line for access anywhere. Left-side/Rights-side. Is there a place for students to include their own notes? Yes! That’s the beauty of going digital. You don’t need a left and right side. When you or your students want some more room, just add a slide and go to town. Worried about plagiarism? I use turnitin.com to ensure my students are submitting their own work. However, I attempt to make these as interactive and individual as possible, which all but eliminates cheating. Do you feel that your students will miss out on the hands-on experience they receive from traditional interactive notebooks? In today’s world, I don’t think that’s a concern. Your students are and need to be well versed in the world of technology and how to manipulate it to suit their needs. This resource will help. If you have any questions, please send me an email - devon@teachwithfergy.com
