My Worry Jar
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Social Skills, Special Education Needs (SEN), Not Grade Specific, Activities
Anxiety can feel overwhelming, but expressing concerns offers relief. This unique mindfulness resource provides a constructive outlet for kids to process worried thoughts by writing them down. The visualized ritual of confiding fears to paper is therapeutically cathartic. The creatively designed “worry jar” worksheet features an illustrated glass jar with a cork top ready for children to write or draw personal anxieties. Prompting questions from adults can help encourage children to identify specific worry triggers like school, friends, health, family changes, current events. Teachers can print stacks to place in an actual decorated jar in the calm down space where students can deposit concerns anonymously. School counselors might utilize the workbook format for individual journaling in sessions exploring anxiety issues. Parents can establish a routine of verbal processing before capturing worries in a family worry jar at home. This versatile format makes externalizing anxious thoughts feel safe for young students through teens. The act of physically articulating then releasing fears gives concrete shape to abstract distress. Over time, acknowledging yet separating from cyclical worries builds coping skills and resilience. Kids learn to trust in support systems rather than being controlled by anxiety. Simple yet incredibly cathartic, this worry jar worksheet transforms journaling into an emotion regulation ritual. Confiding struggles brings self-compassion and relief as we empty bottled-up burdens. This resource includes 1 PDF worksheet

Clip It and Flip It - Counting to Twenty with Base Ten Blocks
Math, Early Math, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Activities
Working with 3D base ten blocks is invaluable. But when students test, sadly it is with paper and pencil or on a computer or tablet and students see 2D images of 3D objects. Working with these Flip it and Clip it Cards is a fun way to practice transferring knowledge of 3D images to a 2D image. It can be so tricky! This activity was designed for my Kindergarten class, but it has also been used successfully in Kindergarten, Second, and with Resource and SPED. When using this resource, students will count the unit blocks on the card and attach a clothespin or clip to their answer. After clipping, they flip the card to check the answer. Great for fine motor development. Use this activity in your math centers or small groups. Put the cards and some clips in task boxes or individual work baskets. This is also a good take home or early-finisher activity. EASY clean up. I teach my students to take all the cards and the clips out of the task box. As they clip, flip, and check their answer, they put the card back IN the box! They use the same clip over and over. Easy to make and use, Clip It and Flip It Counting to Twenty with Base Ten Blocks includes 37 task cards. Answers print on the back for self-checking independence. Extra large cards, 2 cards per pages, so students can easily see and count the blocks. Answer selection along bottom makes it easy for left handed or right handed students. Straight line cutting makes it easier to prep. Clip it and Flip it cards help develop/strengthen fine motor skills while working on counting, number recognition, and transferring knowledge of three dimensional shapes onto 2d images on paper. I print cards on heavy card stock, laminate for durability, and cut. I place all cards with 3 or 4 clothespins in a task box to add to my center selections. My students LOVE Clip and Flip cards! Teachers love the ease of use and so easy to swap out sets of cards to keep centers interesting and students engaged. One teacher even used them as an assessment tool - she had students in a small group at her table, and gave them each a few cards and transparent counters. She used a checklist for marking. You will download a PDF of 45 pages. Print pages 8 through 45 double-sided. If your printer does not allow double-sided printing, print odd pages first, then place them in the printer and print even pages.
