Short sentences are on the coloring pages to help students practice reading or learning to read. The sentences are in the form of a question that gives children the opportunity to think about their answers. Thus, critical thinking skills will be developed. These are simple activities that can be completed easily as part of a typical school day. They can also supplement your regular language arts, reading, and writing curriculum. Coloring is also considered a creative endeavor, and crafty children will enjoy coloring the pictures as well as answering the questions. They will then fold the page to make an alphabet book. The student will then read the book to themselves or to another person. When to Use: Independent Practice - Students can be given these mini books to color and work on independently. Homework - This book can be sent home with students so that they can work on beginning reading and letter sounds with their parents. Literacy or Writing Center - Place the page in the center and let students create their own book. Library - The teacher may choose to create this book and add it to the classroom library for students to read during center time. These alphabet books are a no prep option for teachers to give to students to complete. Each book just needs to be printed out and given to students to complete. They will only need their desired crayons, markers, or colored pencils. No scissors or glue required! Students will have a lot of fun creating and reading these books.
