This lesson, Which Essential Questions About History are Most Important to You? is set up as an Anticipation Guide and is designed to prompt students to think about what they will be learning in an American history or social studies class, civics class, or government class. The questions allow students to connect to and think deeply about values, concepts, and issues. This is an excellent way to frontload concepts and ideas, especially for ELL and RSP students. This lesson can be used in 7th-12th grade classrooms. It is also designed to get students to talk with an adult and with each other. Anticipation Guides are generally used to help students develop a purpose for their reading, activate schema, or prior knowledge, and develop an interest in the topic. This anticipation guide can be used as an icebreaker at the beginning of the year or can be used at any point. The detailed lesson plan includes objectives and learning targets that are aligned with the Common Core Standards, specifically focusing on speaking and listening. In addition, it includes the anticipation guide, directions for how students will administer the anticipation guide with an adult family member or family friend, or neighbor, a reflection for students, as well as directions for how to share what they think with their classmates. Objectives Students will identify which essential questions about history, government, society, rights, responsibilities, etc. are important to them and reflect on why. They will then ask an adult in their family to identify which questions are important to them and why. Students will practice talking with their peers about their essential questions as an icebreaker to get to know their classmates. Learning Targets I can identify and explain which questions about society, government, and rights are important to me. I can discuss with an adult which questions are important to them and why.. Designed for Grade 1 through Grade 3 students, it combines different elementary math concepts like patterns and early math, ensuring a comprehensive learning journey. Preparing the Game To prepare the game is simple; print out enough bingo boards for all your students. Optional items such as playing squares and Calling Cards, when printed and laminated can further enrich the gaming experience. A sustainable alternative to excessive printing or laminating could be to replace playing squares with small items like buttons or counters. The boards can also be marked off with dry erase markers if you laminate them beforehand. The Gameplay A student needs their own bingo board along with minimum seven of some manipulative elements or any dry erase marker. The teacher shuffles the Calling Cards and makes a stack to draw a card one by one while announcing what's on it. The students identify matching blocks on their bingo boards covering them until they get three in line (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal) – earning them victory! The package provided includes five different colored as well as black-and-white variations of these bingo boards providing variety in the game according to different preferences during playtime. Note:In certain situations, more than one block may correspond to the called card but only one block per turn can be covered making strategic placement important! Also once placed down nimble fingers cannot shift their used elements meaning choices must be thought out carefully before placement!. Skip Counting by 9s Bingo - Boards 11-15 This game transforms the traditional method of teaching numbers into a fun and interactive session while subtly strengthening comprehensive skills.

skip counting by 8s bingo - boards 21-25

Need a fun, engaging activity for practicing skip counting by 8 with your kiddos? This math bingo game is perfect for getting your students focused on skip counting in 8s! Preparation: Print and laminate enough Bingo Boards for each student to have one Optional: print, cut and laminate the Playing Squares Print, cut and laminate the Calling Cards. Lamination is optional, but recommended, as it will ensure that the game remains in good condition and can be used for many years to come! To avoid excessive printing and laminating, the Playing Squares could be replaced with other manipulatives such as buttons or counters. Alternatively, students could mark squares off on their Bingo Boards with dry erase markers and then simply clean the boards again after playing (provided that you have laminated the boards) How to Play: Each student needs a Bingo Board and at least 7 Playing Squares (or other manipulatives or a dry erase marker) Shuffle the Calling Cards and place them in a pile. Draw a Calling Card and call out and/or display the contents of the card. Each student looks on their Bingo Board for a block that matches the Calling Card. If they find one, they cover that block with a Playing Square. Draw a new Calling Card and repeat the process. The game continues until somebody wins. To win, a student must shout out “BINGO!” when they have covered three blocks in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally). If the Calling Cards run out before anybody wins, simply shuffle them again and continue playing. Please note: Sometimes there may be more than one block on the Bingo Board that matches the Calling Card. The student may only cover one block on a turn. Once that turn is over, the Playing Square may not be moved to cover a different block. This resource includes 5 different bingo board, in colour as well as black and white.
