Allow students to sort animals by their classifications. Students can sort by animal classes: mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and insects as well as sorting by vertebrate and invertebrate. What is Included: There are eight sorting card headers for mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles, insects, vertebrates, and invertebrates. There are eight sorting mats for mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles, insects, vertebrates, and invertebrates. There are six picture cards for each of the eight sets of sorting activities. Each sorting mat includes a real life example of an animal that belongs in that animal group. All of the picture cards also include real photographs of each animal. What Questions are Asked: To use these, students will lay out either the header cards or the sorting mats. They will then sort the animal images beneath or on top of the correct sorting mat. When to Use: Science Center - The sorting mats can be placed in a science center for students to learn about living things and their classifications. Morning Work - These animal sorts can allow teachers to create quick and easy morning activities for students while they wait on their classmates to arrive to class.
