Flash Cards can be used in groups as drill activities, or alone for private study. Although Flash Cards can contain any form of information, for the purposes of this resource, each Flash Card contains an element from the Periodic Table, its name, symbol, atomic number, and atomic mass. Overall, Flash Cards are used as a learning drill to help with memorization through repetition. Students can quickly and easily learn the Periodic Table of Elements by using Flash Cards in their everyday study. Flash Cards exercise the mental processes of students’ brains. With repeated practice, students will learn to associate words with their spelling. About The Periodic Table of Elements: The elements are the building blocks of matter. They make up everything in earth, and the universe. The Periodic Table organizes these elements in order of their atomic number. The atomic number denotes the number of protons in the atom. It is unique to each element, like a fingerprint. The table further organizes the elements into rows and columns. The rows are called “periods”. The elements in the same row have the same number of electron shells. For example, elements in row/period 1 have 1 electron shell. The columns are called “groups”. The elements in the same column have the same number of electrons in their outermost shell. For example, elements in column/group 1 have 1 electron in their outermost shell. In 1869, chemist Dmitri Mendeleev developed the Periodic Table. He organized the elements based on their similar physical and chemical properties. The table shows the element’s name, its symbol, the atomic number in the upper left corner, and the atomic mass in the bottom left corner. The atomic number gives the number of protons in the element’s atom. The atomic mass gives the average number of protons and neutrons in the element’s atom. By knowing the location of an element on the Periodic Table, you can determine the number of protons, neutrons and electrons that are contained in its atom.

Even and Odd Numbers: Investigate patterns with the 4 operations
Math, Patterns, Numbers, Grade 3, 4, Activities, Projects, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
The purpose of these resources is to explore patterns in our number system through one of the most fundamental classification of numbers - even and odd. Recognising even and odd numbers is first seen in Grade 2, and this builds on work covered here. See the resource Recognising even and odd numbers with and without objects. Having accomplished this, a natural extension is to investigate whether there are any patterns when even and odd numbers are added, subtracted, multiplied or divided. So, as well as looking for patterns pupils are practicing and applying the 4 basic number operations in a math investigation There are two fundamental approaches to this investigation: Using visual aids: Students can get visual clues when even and odd numbers of objects are displayed in an orderly fashion, which is always a good starting point. Addition and Subtraction are covered here with worksheets and digital teaching resources. Multiplication has a digital teaching resource. The range of numbers used are between 1 and 28 for addition, and 1 to 14 for division For the multiplication the examples go from 2 x 2 to 6 x 7 No visual aids: students apply the idea learnt in the Grade 2 resource that whatever the size of the number, in the end only the last (unit) digit matters when deciding if a number is even or odd. Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are all covered here. The range of numbers used here are: - Addition: 2-digit plus a 2-digit number up a total of 30, 50 or 100 - Subtraction: Two 2-digit numbers with the first number a maximum of 30, 50 or 100 - Multiplication: From 2 x 2 to 12 x 12 - Division: Dividend a maximum of 100, Divisor up to 12. The work is broken down into modules so that a step by step approach can be taken. This prepares your students to: - Independently investigate and recognise any patterns or consistently repeated results when performing the 4 operations with even and odd numbers. - Make generalizations from the work carried out. - Make predictions and test them. How many worksheets are in each set ? Lots and lots and virtually unlimited on some of them. At the click of a button all numbers are randomised, so the questions change every time which allows you to create new worksheets for extra practice or revision throughout the year or even give groups of pupils in your class different sets of questions. Answers can be found on the second page of every worksheet, automatically generated when you create a new worksheet. Interactive Teaching Resources These are designed for whole class teaching with an Interactive Whiteboard or on a computer for one to one tuition with instant feedback to help introduce the content of the worksheets. As with the worksheets numbers can be randomized giving you almost unlimited examples to work with. Note These resources are PDF documents and work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers with the randomising buttons also working via a touchscreen (PC or Mac)or on an Interactive Whiteboard. Common Core State Standards CCSS3.OA.D.9 Identify arithmetic patterns (including patterns in the addition table or multiplication table), and explain them using properties of operations. For example, observe that 4 times a number is always even, and explain why 4 times a number can be decomposed into two equal addends. Australian Curriculum Year 4: Investigate and use the properties of odd and even numbers (ACMNA071) Explore and describe number patterns resulting from performing multiplication (ACMNA081) For more foundational work on Even and Odd Numbers have a look at: Recognising & Identifying Even & Odd Numbers

Changing Negative Self-Talk Into Positive Self-Talk SEL Presentation
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Social Skills, Special Education Needs (SEN), Elementary, Middle School, Activities, Worksheets & Printables, Coloring Pages, Worksheets
In this Google Slide SEL presentation, students will learn how to change their negative thoughts into positive ones. There is a quote at the beginning of the slide show that says "Watch what you tell yourself, you're likely to believe it." by Russ Kyle. The students can share what they think this quote means to them. Then there is an educational slide on the value of changing their negative thoughts into positive ones. Then the students will have 12 slides to practice changing negative thoughts into realistic and positive ones. They can do this as a turn and talk with a partner, whole group instruction, or in their table groups. You can decide the best approach for your students. After they practice 12 different thoughts, the students will participate in an elimination game using a playing deck of cards. You will randomly pull a red or black card and students need to declare which one they think you will pull before you pull it. There are directions on the slide notes. The goal is for them to say out loud to the person next to them about which one they guess is going to get pulled for their own accountability. Ask students to pay attention to their own self-talk during this game. This game is based on luck only. You can play the game as many times as you want as time allows. Lastly, the students will get to color a mindfulness coloring sheet of a brain with their own name on it. You can make as many handouts as you have students in your class. Simply double click on the name and change it to the names of students in your class and press enter. Print off as many copies as you need. The time before the holidays can get a little crazy in the classroom. Students are ready for a break and teachers are too! Keep your class engaged with EIGHT Days of math review! The ACTIVITIES are suitable for 5th grade and 6th grade. They are great for easy and fast sub plans. I use them as an 'end of the day carrot' that my students look forward to. They can't leave for the day without getting a step closer to finding Santa so it helps them to stay focused throughout the day so that we have time for the fun activity at the end of the day. One of the best parts: NO PREP required! This is not only great for distance learning but also great if you have run out of copies for the month and need a digital version fast... or if you just forget to make your copies for the week. (It's happened to me! - too. many things to keep track of) The pages do print beautiful in color and black and white if you have the time, but don't fret if you don't. Just assign it on Google Classroom - directions included. If you haven't taught the topic yet, it is a great mini lesson and if you have taught it, it can act as a review. (There are also some fun logic puzzles sprinkled in.) dividing decimals multiplying decimals dividing whole numbers multiplying whole numbers adding decimals subtracting decimals deducing information measurement conversions practicing with money problem solving graphing predicting and having fun! Each task builds off the next. Students will get clues as to where Santa might be hiding AFTER they correctly solve each math task. And don't worry, there is an ANSWER KEY. This resource lends itself to independent work but students can also work in groups of pairs to solve. Don't forget about the other holidays! There is a themed math activity in my store for each of the following: St. Patrick's Day: Find the Leprechaun Easter: Find the Easter Bunny Cinco de Mayo: Find the Piñata
