Scientist Konrad Lorenz - Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Version (PDF & H5P) Konrad Lorenz – Animal Behavior and the Roots of Ethology Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Exercises (PDF + H5P) 🦢🧠 This 45-minute resource introduces students in grades 7–10 to Konrad Lorenz – a key figure in the development of modern ethology, the study of animal behavior. Many students enjoy learning about animals, but the scientific side of behavior research ist oft weniger bekannt. Lorenz is especially known for his work on imprinting in geese – observing how young animals form strong attachments during a critical period after birth. His careful observations helped shape the way we think about instinct, learning, and behavior in both animals and humans. To make this topic approachable, I’ve put together a compact, ready-to-use lesson. It includes a short informational text, a fact sheet, quiz questions with answers, and a creative partner task. The materials are available in both color and black-and-white versions, plus there’s an H5P version for digital use. What’s included: A short, student-friendly text about Konrad Lorenz and his contributions to behavioral science A fact sheet to help students organize key ideas Quiz questions (with answer key) for review or self-check A partner task where students come up with their own questions and exchange them Formats: Printable/digital PDF and interactive H5P 💻 Answer key included ✅ I’ve used this material when introducing the basics of behavior in biology – especially to discuss how scientific observation works in practice. It also fits nicely into lessons on instinct vs. learning or historical perspectives on animal research. The flexible format works well for independent study, pair work, or short projects. 🚀 Download now and bring the legacy of Konrad Lorenz into your biology lessons today! 📍 Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Modern Marvels: Panama Canal Video Questions
Social Studies, History, History: USA, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, Activities
The Panama Canal is a large waterway that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans through the Isthmus of Panama in Central America. The canal is an engineering marvel and a key route for global maritime trade, allowing ships to save time and distance by avoiding the longer and more dangerous route around the southern tip of South America. The idea of constructing a canal through Panama was first proposed in the 16th century by Spanish explorers, but it was not until the late 19th century that serious efforts were made to build the canal. The construction of the canal was a massive undertaking that involved digging a 50-mile-long canal across the isthmus, creating an artificial lake, and building a series of locks to lift ships up and down the canal's elevation changes. The canal was built by the United States between 1904 and 1914, with the French having previously attempted but failed to complete the project . The canal was officially opened on August 15, 1914, and since then has become one of the most important shipping routes in the world. The canal allows ships to travel between the east and west coasts of North and South America, as well as to and from Asia, Europe, and Africa, making it a vital component of global trade and commerce. In 1999, the Panama Canal was transferred from the United States to Panama, and it is now operated and managed by the Panama Canal Authority. The canal continues to play a vital role in global trade, with millions of tons of cargo passing through each year. The canal has also become a popular tourist attraction, with visitors from around the world coming to see the engineering feat that has connected two oceans and changed the course of history. These movie questions are designed to help students grasped the important information from the History Channel video titled "Modern Marvels: Panama Canal." An incredible tale of drama, history, and action. See engineers tackle the most daunting project ever attempted. The video will serve as a great supplement to any history lesson about the Panama Canal and American Imperialism. Here is the link to the video: Modern Marvels: Panama Canal (episode 2) Topics explored in this movie: Theodore Roosevelt, Panama Independence, Yellow Fever, Engineering, Roosevelt Corollary Thumbnail Clipart Credit: Prince Padania

Caught in the Act of Being Kind
Special Resources, Social Skills, Grade 4, 5, 6, 7, Activities
I’ve been doinga lot of thinking lately about our society and how divided we are, so I came up with the idea of this character building and classroom community activity,Caught in the Act of Being Kind, to help our children become kinder to one another and adults. You can do this with one classroom, your team or the entire school. To make it even more effective, it can be used at home with parents and siblings. This is a simple idea, whenever you or your students see someone doing a kind deed for someone else, they will give that person aCaught in the Act of Being Kindcard or the receiver of the kind act may give the person a card to be put into theirCaught in the ActBooklet. As educators, we know that when we do something kind or charitable for another person, it is not only beneficial to them, but it allows us to feel some warm fuzzies too. This can be done throughout the school year. ☞The objectives of this resource are: ☺To improve self image. ☺To learn how to give and receive compliments ☺To build classroom/school community ☺To reinforce writing skills ☞Research has shown that: ♥When you do something kind for someone else, you feel good inside. ♥The greatest thinkers believe, happiness is found in helping others. ♥Giving is a powerful pathway to personal growth and lasting happiness. ♥This is what other teachers are saying about this resource. ♥“I love having something like this that encourages kindness and doing the right thing no matter the age group!" Thanks!! by Katherine G ♥ "This resource will certainly help to encourage a positive atmosphere in classrooms. Our school used a similar program years ago, and the students loved it. Thanks for the clever and customizable certificates." by Gramma Elliott ♥ “Thank you for making my teaching life less stressful by inventing the wheel so I don't have to. Bless you for all that you do for teachers everywhere.” By Kristin Holm ☞This is what you’ll get: ☺Complete lesson plans ☺Letter to parents ☺Cover page in color & black/white ☺Caught in the Act cards ☺Caught in the Act blank pages When I did this activitywith my 6th graders, Words can’t express the way everyone felt after giving and receiving their cards. The twinkle in their eyes and the smiles on there faces were priceless. I can say that we became more like to a family and less like a classroom. The end of the year came too soon and we all hugged and cried as we said good-bye. It was a year that I’ll never forget and I’m sure they won’t either. ☞This resource can be used for: ✔ Middle School ✔ Upper Elementary ✔ Special Ed Classrooms ♥Other teachers have bought these resources, check them out...
