Interactive Chemistry Quiz: GHS Symbols – Genially (+ PDF Version) Bring lab safety to life with this interactive quiz on the GHS (Globally Harmonized System) hazard symbols – perfect for middle and high school chemistry lessons. Whether you're starting the unit or wrapping up a safety review, this quiz adds variety, visual appeal, and a bit of fun to your lesson plan. You’ll get two versions of the quiz: – A PDF version that can be used digitally or printed (but it works not well) – A Genially link that leads to an animated, interactive version (includes sound – which can be muted) Both versions test students on the meanings of the various GHS symbols – from corrosive substances to environmental hazards. The quiz includes original clipart and my own glitter-animated GHS symbols to make the content more visually appealing without distracting from the important safety message. I usually use the Genially quiz for individual work in the computer lab or on tablets, so each student can go at their own pace. But it also works well as a station activity , a class-wide quiz , or even as homework , depending on your classroom setup. At the end of the PDF, you’ll find: A QR code to scan directly to the Genially A clickable link for browser access An iframe embed code , if you want to use it on your (non-commercial) learning platform Attention: The interactive PDF does not contain the full scope of the material. The quiz works. Unfortunately, the additional tasks do not. Using Genially is therefore recommended and much more motivating for the pupils. For the interactive quiz you need an internet connection and a terminal device. The quiz can be carried out with the whole class or as partner or individual work. I prefer individual work at each student's own pace. To get to the Genially link, either scan the QR code at the end of the document or click on the link button available there. You can also copy the iframe code and embed the Genially on a learning platform or other... The Genially can be used either at the beginning of the topic or as a backup. It is also worth using as a station in station work. The interactive version includes motivating sound effects , a self-paced structure , and a clear, age-appropriate design for grades 7–10. 📌 Important note : The Genially quiz is protected by copyright. Here is a quick no-prep game for any elementary classroom: Guess My Number! It helps teach place value, fractions, greater than/less than, logic and working memory skills. This product includes a one-page instruction sheet including the skills taught, different player configurations, rules, a sample round, and extension ideas. This game requires NO PREP and NO MATERIALS at all. Grades to Use With: This game can be used in any elementary classroom (grades K-8). It is great for the following uses: · - Morning/home-room warm-up · - TOC back-up activity · - To fill the 5 minutes before lunch or the end of the day · - As a reward for small-group or one-to-one tutoring Guess My Number Rules: Start with a range based on your students (ex: 1-20 for K, 1-100 for Gr 1-4, 1-200 for Gr 5-7). The teacher (or student if playing in pairs) thinks of a number in that range. The other student (or whole class) has exactly 5 questions of greater than or less than to narrow it down. After 5 questions, they must guess the number. Sample Round: T: I’m thinking of a number between 1-100. S1: Is it greater than 50? T: Yes. S2: Is it greater than 75? T: No. S3: Is it less than 60? T: No. S4: Is it less than 70? T: Yes. S5: Is it greater than 65? T: No This class has narrowed it down to between 60-65. Now they guess. (The number was 62.) Apply properties of operations to calculate with numbers in any form; convert between forms as appropriate; and assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies.For example: If a woman making $25 an hour gets a 10% raise, she will make an additional 1/10 of her salary an hour, or $2.50, for a new salary of $27.50. If you want to place a towel bar 9 3/4 inches long in the center of a door that is 27 1/2 inches wide, you will need to place the bar about 9 inches from each edge; this estimate can be used as a check on the exact computation.

In this Smart Cookie game (2022 version), students try and race each other to be the first one to guess the answer based on one at a time clues after one at a time clicks via Presentation mode on Google Slides. This is based on the wildly popular game Smart A** but more applicable and relevant to elementary-high schoolers. I have included many references to popular t.v. shows and famous people the students born after 2001 would know. This is a trivial pursuit-like game but more fun and students feel more successful. It is just for fun and perfect for Zoom, an ice breaker or indoor recess but they might even learn something! There are 3 categories; Who Am I?, Where Am I?, and What Am I? There are 42 slides for each category. Use in Presentation mode for your class. There are answer sheets at the end for each card so the Game Leader can reference quickly and keep track of the cards used. This is in PowerPoint so the completed cards will turn black after being used for easy game play. In this new 2022 version there are all new cards for each category!
