I have included large class sized frogs to put on the board or into the middle of the carpet, small frogs and a small log that you could put on popsicle sticks or magnets for a whole class or center activity, and individual student cards so that they can have five frogs in front of them as you are singing the song as a class. Five little speckled frogs Sat on a speckled log Eating some most delicious bugs YUM! YUM! One jumped into the pool Where it was nice and cool. Now there were four green speckled frogs. GLUB! GLUB! The Vikings - Interactive Notebook

The Vikings - Interactive Notebook
Social Studies, History, History: Europe, History: World, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Activities

Teach your students all about the fascinating world of the Vikings across XX topics. SCANDINAVIAN GEOGRAPHY Students learn about the role of glaciers in shaping the geography of Scandinavia as well as the arctic climate of much of the year. VIKING RAIDS Covers the reasons why the Vikings began raiding as well as why monasteries became a major target. Here's a short sample text: "The first recorded Viking raid took place in 793 AD when a group attacked and pillaged a monastery on the island of Lindisfarne off the east coast of Britain. Monasteries quickly became a major target for different groups of Vikings as they were often home to many valuable items made from gold and silver. The monks were also often unable, or unwilling, to fight back and could be captured and sold into slavery. Monasteries were also often built in very isolated areas, far from any help. News of the raid on Lindisfarne convinced other Vikings to launch raids of their own. Some places tried to protect themselves by paying different Viking groups to leave them alone (payments known as danegeld) – however this often only encouraged other groups to attack." SHIPS & WEAPONS Students learn about why longships were so effective for raiding and how they were decorated. Students also learn about the common weapons and types of armor they used. KINGDOMS Covers the foundation of large Viking kingdoms in Britain and France. EXPLORERS & SETTLEMENTS Shows how Vikings created colonies in Ireland, Iceland, Greenland, and North America. VIKINGS IN RUSSIA Shows how the Vikings took over large areas of Russia between the 800s and 1200s AD END OF THE VIKING AGE Students learn why the Viking raids came to an end with the creation of more powerful Christian kingdoms in Europe. ACTIVITIES The file comes with a variety of different interactive notebook sheets for students to complete using the information they learn during the unit. Sheets come in versions with and without images and in formats where they can be printed out and glued together or put into a notebook. PRESENTATION Use the included presentation to help guide students through each lesson with enlarged reading passages, images, and instructions.

SEL Boom Deck-What Can I Control and Not Control? Audio and Handout!

SEL Boom Deck-What Can I Control and Not Control? Audio and Handout!
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Social Skills, Special Education Needs (SEN), Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, Activities

In this SEL Boom Deck, students will learn about things they can and cannot control. This is an important skill in self-regulation, relationship skills, and self-awareness. There is audio for each card so reading is not required. There are 46 Boom cards and 43 are task cards. The first 3 cards go over the concepts and the directions. Some of the in control examples are; a child is bored in class, a child make a choice that got them late for school, a child raised his hand to ask for help, a child studied for a test and did well on it, a child took something after someone dared them too, and many more. Some examples for the out of control concept are; a child's balloon was popped from a tree branch, there was a thunder storm, a family is moving, a child is walking in the rain, a child got a toy grabbed by another class member, a child is stuck in traffic and worried they will be late, a child did not get the lead role in a play, and more. After students participate in the Boom deck, they can write and draw their own examples of things they can and cannot control. There is a also a cute airplane that students can color and draw themselves being the pilot of their own plane (and mood, actions, feelings, etc.) This Boom deck can be something students do whole group (there enough cards for each student to do an example) or in centers , or you could assign this individually for homework. If there is an example of someone caught in a situation that causes them to feel upset regardless of whether they can or cannot control it, students are prompted by another card to help the person in the example feel better and do some things that they can control to help themselves. Please see Boom Deck's Terms of Use located on their website.

Number Recognition Pixel Art - Number 9

Number Recognition Pixel Art - Number 9
Math, Early Math, Numbers, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Activities

Are you looking for fun activities for practicing number recognition? These pixel art worksheets are perfect for getting your students to practice number identification for the number 9! Different options for how to use this resource: Cut and paste You can choose to print the colour square pages on white paper. -This is the simplest option, but it will take a lot of colour ink. Or you can choose to print the black line squares pages on colour paper. -This will use a lot less ink, but it will take a little more work to prepare. -You may struggle to find colour paper in all the colours I have used. If you have a problem finding the right colours, you can generally substitute a different colour if you need to. Simply look at the answer key to see what the pictures are and choose an appropriate substitute colour. Colour by number You will only need to print the worksheets and allow the students to colour the squares themselves. Preparation: Worksheets 3 printing options: 1. Full colour - best if you will be able to use all the same colours that I have used. 2. Partial colour – I have left the colours blank. You will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . This is best if you need to make some substitutions because you are printing on colour paper and cannot find all the correct colours. 3. Black and white - like with the partial colour version, you will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . Squares Pages If you are using this resource as a cut and paste activity . 2 printing options: 1 .Colour squares pages (Print on white paper. Each page will have information telling you what picture it is meant for. Simply give each student a block with the different colour squares along with their worksheet) 2. Black line squares pages (print on colour paper. Each page will have information telling you which picture it is meant for, as well as the recommended colour paper to use, and how many students will be able to get their squares from one page. Cut on the dotted lines and give each student one section of each colour page for the picture they are working on.)
