Elementary Math Centers or Stations: Equivalent Fractions (Gr 4 & 5)
Math, Fractions, Grade 4, 5, Centers, Activities

If you are teaching your students about equivalent fractions, check out this ready-to-print set of 5 math stations to enhance your unit! I believe that using a variety of instructional methodologies is a great way to reach more students. These centers allow students to try different activities and work cooperatively with their peers, all while practicing their equivalent fraction math skills. The first stop includes four word problems for you students to try. You can put out whiteboards for them to use instead of scrap paper. Next they get to play a dice game (with 6-sided dice). They practice drawing equivalent fractions. After that, students get to solve a riddle by matching equivalent fractions. The fourth station includes financial literacy: students calculate sale prices using fractions that are equivalent. Finally, the last station has students share their ideas about math clearly in words and visuals as they answer a math journal prompt. This product comes with an answer key too! Grades to Use With: These stations are designed for students in grades 4 and 5 who are strengthening their understanding of equivalent fractions (in preparation for learning to add and subtract fractions in particular). They could be used in middle school special education classes as well. Ways to Use: I often use stations like these before a math unit test. I split the class into 5 groups and have them start at different stations. They can either rotate every 15-20 minutes, or work at their own pace. If you find math stations useful, I have others available in my store: Multiples and Factors Place Value from Hundred Millions to Millionths Concepts for Early Algebra: Tables, Graphs, and Expressions Geometry: Perimeter, Area, Volume for Shapes with Right Angles Rates and Ratios Integers: Addition and Subtraction Geometry of Triangles: Types, Area, and Angles Probability and Statistics for Grades 5-7 Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages

CREDIT SCORE BOARD GAME: A fun financial literacy lesson and finance game! This engaging financial literacy activity will help teach your high school students all about credit scores- one of the most important numbers you will have as an adult! How to Use: • Show your class an online video containing the basic facts about credit scores. You can easily search for one by looking up "What is a FICO score?" • Present the two slides to your students to introduce credit scores, their range, and the five main activities that effect them. You can print a double-sided handout for your students or let them take notes themselves. • Have a board and six-sided die for each group of two to four players. • Each player also needs a small item to be their counter on the game board. • The players in each group will roll the die and play the board game like any other. They start with a credit score and each square they land on has a realistic scenario and resulting effect on their credit score. They can use scrap paper or a mini whiteboard to keep a running tally of their score throughout the game. • Once all players have gotten to the final square, the winner will be the person with the highest credit score. Many teachers have reported their students want to play this game again and again and get pretty competitive when playing. It's a great way for your students to be practicing tons of quick addition and subtraction (with numbers in the hundreds), while barely noticing they are doing math! What's Included: A total of 4 pages in PDF Title Page 2 Pages of information Board Game Check out other fun financial literacy products from my store: Income Tax Notes and Practice Compound Interest: Hook Students on Financial Literacy Financial Literacy: Renting vs. Buying a Home Net Worth: Assets - Liabilities = Equity

Math, Early Math, Numbers, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Activities

Are you looking for fun activities for practicing number recognition? These pixel art worksheets are perfect for getting your students to practice number identification for the numbers 0-6! Different options for how to use this resource: Cut and paste You can choose to print the colour square pages on white paper. -This is the simplest option, but it will take a lot of colour ink. Or you can choose to print the black line squares pages on colour paper. -This will use a lot less ink, but it will take a little more work to prepare. -You may struggle to find colour paper in all the colours I have used. If you have a problem finding the right colours, you can generally substitute a different colour if you need to. Simply look at the answer key to see what the pictures are and choose an appropriate substitute colour. Colour by number You will only need to print the worksheets and allow the students to colour the squares themselves. Preparation: Worksheets 3 printing options: 1. Full colour - best if you will be able to use all the same colours that I have used. 2. Partial colour – I have left the colours blank. You will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . This is best if you need to make some substitutions because you are printing on colour paper and cannot find all the correct colours. 3. Black and white - like with the partial colour version, you will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . Squares Pages If you are using this resource as a cut and paste activity . 2 printing options: 1 .Colour squares pages (Print on white paper. Each page will have information telling you what picture it is meant for. Simply give each student a block with the different colour squares along with their worksheet) 2. Black line squares pages (print on colour paper. Each page will have information telling you which picture it is meant for, as well as the recommended colour paper to use, and how many students will be able to get their squares from one page. Cut on the dotted lines and give each student one section of each colour page for the picture they are working on.)
