Wouldn't you love to get your students excited about reading? With this read CVC short o words resource your class can easily learn and practice CVC words with the short a sound. This fun activity can help you teach your students multiple reading skills like blending, letter sounds, and matching the sounds we read to the picture we see- and with its colorful visuals and simple instructions. You can't go wrong with this resource! Simply put the PowerPoint into presentation mode and watch the car move from the first letter to the second letter to the third letter. As the teacher is clicking to go to the next slide, students should be making the letter sound that corresponds with the location of the race car. In the 4th slide of each word, an arrow appears showing students the word they read. Reading CVC words is an important strategy when introducing many phonological awareness skills emerging readers need to learn. CVC words follow the simple pattern of consonant-vowel-consonant and make it easier for students to transform individual letter sounds into short and simple familiar words. The short vowel sounds are the foundation of fluent reading. When students begin learning letter names and sounds the first vowel sounds we teach them are the short vowel sounds. The CVC short o words students will read in this activity are: hop, log, fox, pot, hot, dot, top, and box. We are always looking for ways to teach our students new skills. Being able to tailor instruction to their learning styles is just one effective way to increase student engagement and set students up for success. Many of our students, from year to year, are visual and auditory learners. Most children (and even adults) can attest to their ability to better retain information that they have learned through music and song. Because of this, my resources seek to teach students skills through song. This particular resource is aPilgrims and Puritans Song. This can be used in your social studies classroom with your elementary students. You can use this video to introduce this segment in time for America and then use it again to review later on. The feelings on the cards are excited, happy, proud, mad, scared, worried, disgusted, and sad. This resource can be used for individuals, small groups, centers in a classroom, or as a whole group. This resource is suitable for pre-k, kindergarten, first, and second grades. There is no reading required. This resource is fully editable after accessing a copy of this Google slideshow. You can resize pictures or add more feeling cards or different feeling cards. There are directions included. First, read a story about feelings to your class. Students can practice reading comprehension skills with these IP word family mats. Students can practice reading IP words in isolation and in the context of sentences. The words in this set follow a CVC or CCVC spelling pattern. Included in this resource: This resource includes one word mat and one sentence mat, both for reading IP words in insolation and in context. There are also picture cards that correspond with each word and sentence. To complete this activity, students will read each IP word or sentence on the mat and then match the corresponding pictures. Students can work independently or with a partner to complete this activity. How to Use these IP word Family Mats: The students can simply lay the images on top of the word or sentence.
