High School The History of Mother's Day Reading Passage Bundle

High School The History of Mother's Day Reading Passage Bundle
ELA, Reading, Reading Comprehension, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Mother's Day, Resources for Teachers, Social Studies, Research, High School, Homeschool Resources, Worksheets & Printables, Literacy Readers, Teacher Tools, Assessments, Templates, Quizzes and Tests

I developed this High School The History of Mother’s Day Reading Passage unit specifically to move beyond the surface-level crafts and card-making usually associated with the holiday in younger grades. My goal was to create a resource that challenges secondary students to analyze history through a critical lens while remaining completely prepared for busy homeschool parents. This High School The History of Mother’s Day Reading Passage unit explores the complex, and sometimes heartbreaking, history of how a day of peace and social activism became a commercial giant. It is designed to be comprehensive enough for a high school history or ELA credit while remaining engaging enough to spark a real, deep-level dinner table discussion. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: A detailed reading passage: tracks the holiday from ancient rituals to modern controversies. 20 detailed questions: requiring critical thinking to answer in paragraph-length responses. 10 note-taking sheets: designed to help teens organize their thoughts. A full key with model answers: to save you time on grading and research. TOPICS COVERED: How Greek and Roman mother-goddess traditions influenced early culture. The shift from 17th-century religious pilgrimages to secular family reunions. The inspiring history of Ann and Anna Jarvis’s social activism and peace work. Why the holiday's founder eventually tried to have her own creation abolished. I designed this High School History of Mother’s Day Reading Passage to take the entire weight of planning and research off your shoulders, so you can focus on the connection rather than the prep. While it is truly "open-and-go" for you, it ensures your student/homeschooler is doing the intellectual heavy lifting—whether you are using it for a history block, a social studies elective, or an ELA supplement. Thank you for letting me be a small part of your homeschooling journey and for trusting me to help you make high school history feel truly alive. If you and your students/homeschoolers enjoyed this resource, please let a review. Thank you for your support! Tina - Big Easy Homeschooling Mom

Decorative Writing Sheets for Secondary Students Versatile ruled pages for writing, organizing, and personalizing classroom work – in a calm and appealing design 📝🌿 PNG + PDF These decorative worksheets were created with older students in mind. They combine a clean, thoughtful layout with subtle design elements that make them suitable for many classroom contexts – from creative writing to structured math problems. Each page features light, subject-neutral decorations and matching rulings. The rulings are clearly visible but not too dominant, and their colors are coordinated with the overall design. This small detail gives the pages a more polished, motivating look – without distracting from the actual task. What’s included: A selection of printable decorative writing sheets with lines All designs with age-appropriate, calm visuals Rulings in matched color tones for a cohesive appearance PDF format – great for print or digital notebooks (e.g. GoodNotes, Notability) PNG Format Ideas for classroom use: I’ve used these kinds of pages in various ways – for summaries, vocabulary practice, reflections, and even small-scale presentations. Some students appreciate having a “special” page to write on for final drafts or project titles. They’re also useful for open tasks: students might choose how to use the space, which supports creative thinking and independence. Because the sheets are not content-bound, they work well across subjects. Whether you’re teaching language arts, science, or social studies, you can adapt them to your lesson. I’ve even let students use them for personal notes or as covers for their portfolios. They also serve well during quieter phases, in tutoring settings, or as part of personalized learning folders. And for digital classrooms, students can fill them out using a stylus or keyboard. A simple, flexible resource – and a small visual upgrade that shows students their work matters. Honestly, as a homeschool mom, teaching a 9th grader is no joke—I spent forever looking for something that would not make my teen roll their eyes before we even started. I was tired of those "babyish" holiday worksheets, so I built this unit to actually dig into the grit behind Father's Day . It is not just about ties and grilling; it is a full-on look at the 60-year fight to get this day recognized, ending with Nixon’s 1972 law. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: Covers everything from the first 1909 idea to the official 1972 law. 20 deep-thinking prompts that won't feel like "busy work." Full answer keys are included for easy grading/assessment. 10 note-taking sheets to keep their thoughts organized. TOPICS COVERED: How one daughter spent 60 years fighting for her dad's legacy. The actual political battle to get a law passed. Cool ways families celebrate in Germany, Mexico, and Thailand. How the holiday turned into a billion-dollar business. I really hope this saves you some prep time and gives your high schooler the kind of academic challenge they’re actually ready for. If you run into a snag or just want to chat about homeschooling high school, definitely reach out. Happy teaching! If you and your students/homeschoolers enjoyed this resource, please leave a review. Homeschooling high school is a whole different ball game. As a mom currently navigating 9th grade with my own daughter, I know the struggle: finding resources that are not 'childish' but also don't read like a dry college dissertation is tough. We want our teens to think critically about the world without being bored to tears. That is exactly why I created this High School Evolution of Earth Day Reading Passage. It actually started with my daughter asking how a simple protest turned into a global mandate—and honestly, I could not find a deep-dive rigorous enough for her curiosity. This is notjust another basic history worksheet. It is a comprehensive study built to sharpen paragraph-style writing and spark a real sense of environmental stewardship in our young adults. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: A rigorous text exploring Earth Day’s evolution from 1970 to today. Complex prompts requiring deep critical thinking and synthesis from the homeschooler. Model answers in paragraph-style format for academic benchmarking. 10 note-taking sheets to support various learning and retention styles. TOPICS COVERED: How Senator Nelson adapted anti-war tactics for environmentalism. Detailed look at the EPA, Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act. The movement’s shift from a US protest to a 141-country mandate. Analysis of current themes and modern ecological challenges. Ultimately, my goal is to make your homeschooling journey just a little bit easier by providing a "done-for-you" lesson that does not sacrifice quality for convenience. Earth Day is such a pivotal moment in our modern history, and I believe our high schoolers deserve a curriculum that treats it with the depth it requires. I hope this High School Evolution of Earth Day Reading Passage r esource sparks some incredible dinner-table conversations in your home, just as it did in mine. Thank you for letting me be a small part of your homeschooler’s educational journey—we are in this together! By working through these materials, you are helping your teen build a bridge between historical knowledge and modern responsibility If you and your students/homeschoolers enjoyed this resource, please leave a review. Math Writing Sheets with Decorative Grid Boxes Printable graph paper with a subtle design twist – for math tasks, creative problem solving, or structured writing 📐✏️ PNG + PDF These decorative math sheets combine practical structure with visual appeal. Designed especially for math lessons, they feature a box-style ruling (also known as graph or squared paper) and gentle decorative elements that frame the workspace without distracting from the task. The colors of the rulings match the surrounding design, giving each page a calm and balanced look. Whether you’re preparing math exercises, practicing place value, or creating space for geometry sketches – these sheets provide a flexible foundation. The structured grid supports clear number alignment and helps students organize their work, especially those who benefit from visual guidance. What’s included: A variety of printable decorative worksheets with math box rulings Rulings in colors matched to the design Subtle seasonal or subject-neutral decorations PDF format – for printing or use in digital notebooks (e.g. GoodNotes, Notability) PNG Format How I use them in class: I often reach for these sheets when I want to give a task a more finished or thoughtful appearance. Students use them for solving equations, drawing coordinate grids, or organizing data. They also work well for math journaling or scaffolded tasks, where a clear layout makes thinking visible. The design encourages careful work without being overwhelming – especially useful for students who struggle with messy layouts or find blank pages intimidating. Because the visuals are gentle and age-neutral, they’re suitable from upper elementary through secondary levels. They can also serve as project covers, learning logs, or a base for differentiated tasks. Sometimes, it’s these small details – like using a well-designed worksheet – that make students take their work a little more seriously. Best, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Music Writing Sheets with Decorative Layout Create space for creativity in music class – with printable sheets for composing, notating, or practicing music theory 🎵✍️ PNG + PDF These music-themed worksheets offer a quiet and motivating way for students to engage with musical notation. Each sheet includes clearly spaced music lineatures (staff lines) and gentle decorative elements to make the learning experience both structured and enjoyable. The color tones of the staff lines are matched to the overall design, giving the pages a calm, coherent look – without overwhelming students who are still learning to read or write music. Whether you’re asking students to notate simple melodies, copy rhythms, or compose short pieces, these pages provide a flexible format that supports focus and neatness. They’re also great for music journals, theory exercises, or creative music tasks. What’s included: A selection of PDF music writing pages with pre-printed lineatures Decorative design elements in subtle tones Coordinated ruling colors for better visual harmony Format: Printable or usable in digital notebooks (e.g., GoodNotes, Notability) PNG Format Ideas for classroom use: In my own music classes, I use these sheets for short composition tasks or to write down musical ideas after listening to a piece. They also work well in project folders or as part of student portfolios. Some of my students like to use them during free work time – writing down simple melodies they've invented or even illustrating their musical ideas. For students who are easily overwhelmed by plain staff paper, the friendly design can reduce the fear of the blank page. The format works well in both primary and lower secondary settings – and it's a great way to combine structure with freedom in creative tasks. These pages don’t replace formal music workbooks – but they’re a welcome addition when you want students to engage with music more openly and personally. Best, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? If you are anything like me, as a homeschool mom, you want your high schooler to start the new year feeling confident, organized, and inspired. That is exactly why I created this 2026 New Year’s Goals Coloring and Doodle Book . It is not just another checklist or planner—they will actually want to use it! My own teen daughter loves the way it combines simple, S.M.A.R.T. goal setting with fun, creative doodling and reflection. It covers all the important areas of their lives, both personal and academic, so nothing gets left out. Honestly, I wish I would have had something like this when I was their age! If you are looking for a resource that will help your student/homeschoolers take real ownership of their year (and enjoy the process!), this is the one I’d recommend from one homeschool mom to another. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE 70+ unique goal planning and doodle pages are included. Cover 5 areas: School, Spiritual, Personal, Family, and Health. A clear, guided explanation of the S.M.A.R.T. goal-setting steps. Structured pages for creating goal timelines, action plans, and obstacle strategies. TOPICS COVERED Using the S.M.A.R.T. framework for effective planning. Personal development and self-reflection. Long-term time management through goal timelines and milestones. Executive function skills like resource identification and delegation. Honestly, I know exactly what that post-holiday slump feels like—trying to get our teens back into 'school mode' without the immediate eye-rolls—which is why I am so excited about this 2026 New Year’s Goals Coloring and Doodle Book . It is not just another dry planner or a boring checklist that’s going to end up buried under a pile of laundry; it is actually something my high schooler wants to open because it hits that sweet spot of structured S.M.A.R.T. goal planning for their transcripts and life skills, but wrapped in doodles and creative prompts that let them breathe and think. It looks at their whole life—not just their math grade, but their personal growth and big dreams, too—so if you are tired of the 'back-to-school' struggle in January, grab this to help them finally take ownership and start 2026 feeling focused and actually inspired! If you and your students/homeschoolers enjoyed this resource, please leave a review. Thank you for your support! Tina - Big Easy Homeschooling Mom

Sunflowers – Factual Interview Text, Glossary & Student Profile

Sunflowers – Factual Interview Text, Glossary & Student Profile
STEM, Science, Life Sciences, Thanksgiving, Holidays, Holiday & Seasonal, Summer, Seasons, Biology, Nature & Plants, Grade 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Activities, Worksheets & Printables, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Worksheets, Projects, Presentations, Templates, Centers, Classroom Decor

Sunflowers – Factual Interview Text, Glossary & Student Profile A differentiated reading activity on Helianthus annuus for grades 3–7 🌻📚 This resource offers a creative and low-prep way to introduce your students to one of the best-known summer flowers: the sunflower (Helianthus annuus). Using an age-appropriate factual text in the form of an interview, this lesson invites students to learn more about the plant’s features, growth, and significance – all while practicing reading comprehension and working independently. The main text is written as an interview with a sunflower, which makes the content more relatable and engaging for younger learners. It’s differentiated into two versions (standard and simplified) to support mixed-ability groups. A glossary is included for both versions to support vocabulary development and help students access the content on their own. What’s included: Factual text in interview form (2 levels of difficulty) Glossary for each version of the text Printable student profile to be completed after reading Photo of a sunflower (self-taken, for classroom use) Answer key for the profile Optional extension task for early finishers All materials in both full-color and black-and-white versions Format: PDF Classroom ideas: Start the lesson with the sunflower photo as a silent impulse or discussion starter. Use guiding questions like: “Do you know this flower?” or “What can you tell about it?” From there, you can assign the text to pairs or small groups – or have it performed by two students, one acting as the sunflower, the other as the reporter. It’s a simple way to add some movement and creativity to factual reading. The profile helps students consolidate what they’ve read, and the glossary encourages independent clarification of unknown words. For quick finishers, there's a short research task on the healing properties of sunflowers, offering a meaningful extension. This material works well as part of a science or language arts lesson and is also easy to use in a substitute lesson. No extra prep required – just print and start. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from @Lernfitness Did You Know? Valentine's Day Templates - Printable Greeting Cards & Coloring Sheet

Valentine's Day Templates - Printable Greeting Cards & Coloring Sheet
Creative Arts, Valentine's Day, Holidays, Holiday & Seasonal, Community Building, Resources for Teachers, Special Resources, Life Skills, Social Skills, Speech Therapy, Homeschool Templates, Crafts, Activities, Centers, Projects, Bulletin Boards, Classroom Decor, Door Decor, Templates, Teacher Tools

I love to make printable greeting cards and bookmarks. Not only are they fun for kids to do but can be used to practice and build useful and important skills. For example, these cute Valentines Day cards with matching envelope template (5 x 7 finished size): Require students to cut out the cards and envelope template in order to create a finished card with a matching envelope. Cutting with scissors builds fine motor skills. When students fold the cards correctly as well as paste the envelope template correctly, they are developing (especially with the envelope template) problem solving skills in addition to the fine motor skills practice. Deciding who to give the card, writing out a greeting to the chosen person, and addressing the envelope will not only build social skills, but life skills that will always be needed throughout adulthood. Properly addressing the card and outside envelope will require proper capitalization and grammar and will develop handwriting skills as well. Students can work on their cards as a group. Teachers can create a special center for this project. Cards are blank on the inside so that students can decide what they want to say. They can also draw pictures if they are not reading or writing letters yet. The cards are not age specific. They can be created with pre-readers all the way up to adulthood. There are six (6) different foldable, 5 x 7-inch cards with the following sayings: All you need is Jesus Jesus loves you Be my valentine I love you Two of the cards contain a picture without a saying. One envelope template is included, which can be used with any 5 x 7 card besides the cards in the Valentines Day card pack. pdf downloadable file, each card is on a separate sheet of paper. Also included is a coloring sheet with a colored sheet students can use to match the colors or color their own way using their own chosen color scheme.
