I love to make printable greeting cards and bookmarks. Not only are they fun for kids to do but can be used to practice and build useful and important skills. For example, these cute Valentines Day cards with matching envelope template (5 x 7 finished size): Require students to cut out the cards and envelope template in order to create a finished card with a matching envelope. Cutting with scissors builds fine motor skills. When students fold the cards correctly as well as paste the envelope template correctly, they are developing (especially with the envelope template) problem solving skills in addition to the fine motor skills practice. Deciding who to give the card, writing out a greeting to the chosen person, and addressing the envelope will not only build social skills, but life skills that will always be needed throughout adulthood. Properly addressing the card and outside envelope will require proper capitalization and grammar and will develop handwriting skills as well. Students can work on their cards as a group. Teachers can create a special center for this project. Cards are blank on the inside so that students can decide what they want to say. They can also draw pictures if they are not reading or writing letters yet. The cards are not age specific. They can be created with pre-readers all the way up to adulthood. There are six (6) different foldable, 5 x 7-inch cards with the following sayings: All you need is Jesus Jesus loves you Be my valentine I love you Two of the cards contain a picture without a saying. Looking for an “All About Me” bio poem activity that actually gets your students writing (and sharing a bit about themselves)? At the start of the year, I always find that some students are excited to talk… and others just don’t know what to say or write. That’s where this has worked really well in my classroom. This bio poem activity gives students a simple structure to follow, so they’re not stuck staring at a blank page. The templates guide them step by step, and the simile prompts help them add a bit more detail and personality to their writing without overthinking it. I usually start by showing them an example (there’s one included), and we talk through it together. After that, they brainstorm their own ideas and use the notebook-style templates to draft their poem. It’s very manageable, even for students who aren’t confident writers yet. Once they’ve written their poem, they can create a neat final version using the publishing page. These look great displayed in the classroom, and students genuinely enjoy reading about each other. Everything is included to make it easy to run as a full lesson—there’s a simple lesson plan to follow, plus a rubric if you want to assess the writing without spending ages on marking. I’ve found this works especially well as a getting-to-know-you activity, but it also fits nicely into poetry or writing lessons any time of the year. These adorable gingerbread characters are sure to inspire your kids and students this Valentines Day season. There are six different bookmarks, 2" x 6" size, each with a gingerbread person working on baking something yummy. In addition to the six (6) different bookmarks, this pack includes 4 different 5 x 7 cards, two with gingerbread characters, two with other designs. One card is white with just the words, "Love - Be My Valentine" in printed in cursive, red in color. The other card contains a pair of birds kissing inside of a red heart with a blue outline and a blue background. All cards say, "Be My Valentine." Also included is a 5 x 7 envelope template that your students can cut out and paste together to create an envelope that will fit perfectly with the 5 x 7 cards. This project can be used to encourage students to handwrite a message inside, address the envelopes.
