That’s exactly why I created these glitter backgrounds. They add a little sparkle and visual interest without being too overwhelming or distracting. Sometimes it’s the background that helps set the mood for a lesson. In this set, you’ll find 12 glitter-style backgrounds, each in A4 format. I designed them using Procreate, and they’re available in three file types: PNG, PDF, and TIFF. That way, you can choose what works best for you—whether you're creating something for print or a digital format like Canva, PowerPoint, or Google Slides. Chemical elements Christmas Ornaments – Printable Templates for December Science Lessons This printable resource includes black-and-white templates for all 118 elements of the periodic table. Each template shows the element’s name and symbol and can be printed for students to personalize. The activity is intended for the winter season, especially around December, when students are often busy but still benefit from focused, creative work. Students can decorate the element templates with color or drawings and, depending on the level, add simple facts or uses of the element. Some teachers use the finished pieces for a classroom display—on walls, windows, or doors. Others fold them into 3D shapes and hang them from the ceiling or around a subject-themed tree. Instructions for both 2D and foldable 3D formats are included, though the actual designs stay simple so that students can focus on content. No special materials are required beyond paper, scissors, and some colors. The templates work well with different age groups, from basic recognition in younger grades to research tasks for older students. Many classes use the templates as a seasonal wrap-up to a unit on atomic structure or chemical elements. It helps students to slow down while still staying connected to subject material. The repetitive visual exposure to symbols and element names supports retention, especially when students walk past the display each day. Printable Chemistry Pennants – Christmas Classroom Decor I made this banner because I wanted something simple to hang in my classroom during the weeks before the holidays — something that looked nice but still connected to chemistry. These are small triangle flags, each showing one element from the main group, with symbol, name, and atomic number. The design has a bit of a holiday touch but it’s not loud or silly, so it works even if you don’t go all-in on Christmas decorations. What I like about it is that I can just print it, cut it out, and hang it up, and it brings colour to the room without much effort. The students walk past it every day, and after a while they start to recognise elements just from seeing them over and over again. It’s not a big thing, but I’ve noticed that small exposures like that can really help, especially for the students who don’t memorize things easily. I printed mine on heavier paper and used some string and tape to hang it across the whiteboard. One year I laminated them so I could use them again the next time, and they held up really well. You can hang them in a line, in clusters, or just tape them to cabinets or doors — whatever fits your classroom. Sometimes I also use them as a starting point. I might ask a student to pick one element from the banner and tell me something about it, or we do a quick warm-up based on the symbols they see. But most of the time, it’s just there, and that’s enough. It makes the space feel less grey in December, and still keeps the focus on science.
