Daily Calendar Routine: High and Low Temperature Measurement K 1st 2nd

Here’s a quick way to include real-world math , finding the difference (subtraction), and number lines in your daily calendar routine each morning in kindergarten, 1st grade, or 2nd grade! Have your students record the day's high and the day's low temperature in your city on this large thermometer. Then you can find the difference : which is the daily temperature range! INCLUDES METRIC (℃) & IMPERIAL (℉) How to Use this Calendar Routine: • Note: This product is created to be printed on large 11x17 paper! • Print a large thermometer (with your preferred units C or F) in colour. • Laminate the thermometer. • Then hang it up as part of your morning calendar routine. • Each day, you will look up the day's high and the day's low temperature in your city. • With your students, record the date, the high temperature, and the low temperature on the laminated chart using a whiteboard marker. • Have one or two students come up to circle the high & low temperature on the thermometer. • Then students can help you calculate the difference between these two temperatures to determine the daily temperature range. Many strategies can be used: Counting the dashes in between the two numbers Using mental math or known benchmarks (make a 10) Using the standard subtraction algorithm How to Use This as a Worksheet: • You could also print a thermometer on legal-sized paper to use as a worksheet for your students to complete. This allows assessment of their knowledge of number lines measurement finding the difference integers (if using Celsius in the winter) Grades to Use With: This daily calendar routine is created for students in kindergarten, 1st grade, or 2nd grade. It could also be used in older elementary grades when introducing integers (if you use Celsius in the winter months). Finally, it could be used in life skills classes where appropriate. I created these blobs-style backgrounds to add a friendly and creative touch to the resources I use with my students – and I now use them regularly across many different formats. Each background is designed in A4 format and comes in three file types (PNG, JPG, TIFF), so you can use them easily in PowerPoint, Canva, Word, or on your digital whiteboard. I made the blobs myself using Procreate, and they’ve quickly become a go-to design element for my materials – from flashcards to worksheet covers to game boards. Are you thinking of starting your own tutoring business or getting some tutoring students in elementary school or high school to supplement your teaching income? Here are ready-to-go, editable tutoring templates that you can use to plan your sessions, record what you accomplish, and report back to your students’ parents. This will give your business a professional look while saving you time: the templates have all the information you need and nothing you don’t! How to Use: a) Tutoring Plan: Create a tutoring plan for each student. This can be done when a student starts working with you and should last for at least 3-6 months. This one-page sheet highlights the student’s strengths and the skills they need to work on. It has room for you to plan routines (warm-up and rewards) and three key areas that you will work on with the student- including the resources you will use. You can gather information from the parents, the student’s teacher, and report cards or previous assessments for developing this plan. You can share the completed plan with the parents (and the student if it is age-appropriate). You can print a copy or type into the slide. Check out a completed sample to see how to use this page. b) Tutoring Sessions: Print a tutoring sessions sheet for each of your students. One sheet will last ten sessions. You can record the date and time of the session and all the activities you complete along with the resources you use. This will make prepping for the next session much easier- using your tutoring plan and this record sheet will allow you to always know what comes next. You can also record your payments here.
