INCLUDES METRIC (℃) & IMPERIAL (℉) How to Use this Calendar Routine: • Note: This product is created to be printed on large 11x17 paper! • Print a large thermometer (with your preferred units C or F) in colour. • Laminate the thermometer. • Then hang it up as part of your morning calendar routine. • Each day, you will look up the day's high and the day's low temperature in your city. • With your students, record the date, the high temperature, and the low temperature on the laminated chart using a whiteboard marker. • Have one or two students come up to circle the high & low temperature on the thermometer. • Then students can help you calculate the difference between these two temperatures to determine the daily temperature range. Many strategies can be used: Counting the dashes in between the two numbers Using mental math or known benchmarks (make a 10) Using the standard subtraction algorithm How to Use This as a Worksheet: • You could also print a thermometer on legal-sized paper to use as a worksheet for your students to complete. How to Use: a) Tutoring Plan: Create a tutoring plan for each student. This can be done when a student starts working with you and should last for at least 3-6 months. This one-page sheet highlights the student’s strengths and the skills they need to work on. It has room for you to plan routines (warm-up and rewards) and three key areas that you will work on with the student- including the resources you will use. You can gather information from the parents, the student’s teacher, and report cards or previous assessments for developing this plan. You can share the completed plan with the parents (and the student if it is age-appropriate). You can print a copy or type into the slide.
