Letter J: PowerPoint and Worksheets: Lesson 10
Special Resources, ELA, Special Education Needs (SEN), Language Development, Phonics, Kindergarten, Preschool, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Learn Initial Sounds J: Lesson 10 teaches the letter Jj and its related phonic sound through a 35-slide PowerPoint lesson, and 5 follow-up activity worksheets. All you need to teach the phonic letter I! Whether in school or at home, this series of phonic presentations can help you effectively teach initial/beginning sounds to all pupils, including those with special needs/dyslexia. This lesson is part of a synthetic, systematic phonics programme for all abilities including those suspected of being dyslexic. This lesson is in the first stage of the Reading Made Simple programme where we teach the initial, or beginning, sounds. The ability to hear the initial/beginning sound is stressed throughout, while we learn to associate each letter with its sound. Each lesson can stand alone but the activities will presume knowledge of the previous letters in the alphabet as Reading Made Simple teaches the initial sounds in alphabetical order. Special features of the Learn Initial Sounds J: Lesson 10 The PowerPoint is silent so that you can interact with your child in the best way for them: full instructions are provided at the bottom of each slide - be sure to show 'Notes'. Science of Reading Aligned Truly phonetic; no 'i' for 'ice-cream'. We focus heavily on phonemic awareness which is so necessary for a head start in phonics The child is given plenty of opportunities to learn the necessary skills - perfection is not expected in lesson 1. Still, the teacher will look for the development of the necessary skills as the child works through the alphabet. What is included in the Learn Initial Sounds J: Lesson 10? A 33-slide PowerPoint which teaches phonemic awareness, letter/sound correspondence and letter formation along with practice games 5 follow-up worksheets How can the Learn Initial Sounds J: Lesson 10 be used? It can be used in multiple ways: As the child learns each sound, you can use the PowerPoint lesson to reinforce your own lesson It can be sent home for a child to watch with his/her parents after being taught the letter Jj in class - this will then act as revision as well as training the parent as to what is necessary to help the child. Use in class Use at home by parents or for home education Suggested Method: Introduce each letter in turn to your pupil. Have a flashcard of the letter ready. Say each letter's sound to the child and ask him/her to repeat it thrice. Explain that some words begin with this sound. Give an example. Use the lesson as teacher training for yourself, to see how to teach your child, or use it with the child. Choose suitable activities (matching the ability of your child) from the pack of worksheets. Notes are suggestions only - use language appropriate to your pupil and be sure to interact naturally. However, could you make sure that you focus on the child's hearing of the sounds at the beginning of words as this is much overlooked in the quest to help children learn the initial sounds as quickly as possible? Technical help: Use the PowerPoint in normal mode so that you can see the notes and use the 'Draw' tool when prompted. Some slides are interactive. Savannah Animals Flashcards and Animal Facts Anchor Charts (Real Pictures for K-12 Science/ELA Vocabulary Lessons) Savannah Animals Pictures/Flashcards, Animal Facts Anchor Charts for K-12 Science Lessons I created these flashcards for all the grades from K-12. This resource features 35 real African savanna animals and birds with clear, realistic photos that work from kindergarten to highschool. What I love about these is how versatile they are. Your kindergarteners can use them for basic animal recognition, while your 7th graders can incorporate them into ecosystem presentations or research projects. I've included both the colored as well the grayscale version. The animal facts anchor charts are also included in this resource. Now the students can learn interesting details while they're looking at the pictures, which keeps them engaged for a longer duration. What you'll get: 35 printable savannah animal and bird flashcards Each card has realistic images with animal names clearly labeled Both colored and grayscale versions (perfect for budget-friendly printing) Animal facts anchor charts with interesting details Ready to use for sorting, classification, bulletin boards, labeling, storytelling, and more Works great for different grades: Preschool and Kindergarten : Animal introduction and basic vocabulary building Grades 1–3: Science content reinforcement and animal recognition practice Grades 4–5: Science fair displays, research projects, and classification work Grades 6–8 : Ecosystem reports, ELA animal assignments, and visual presentations Why these work better than regular flashcards: These aren't typical cartoon-style animal cards. The realistic photos give them an academic feel that works well with older students too. They're also sized right for actual classroom use - big enough to see from a distance but not so huge they eat up all your paper and ink. For teachers and homeschool parents: Print and use immediately No editing or prep work is required Great for visual learners and classroom displays Supports science, ELA, and project-based learning across grade levels Students can work independently with these for research and exploration For students: Builds animal recognition and science vocabulary naturally Makes science presentations look more professional Helps with understanding animal adaptations and ecosystems Keeps kids curious about real-world wildlife These have become one of my go-to resources because they work for so many different activities and age groups. Moreover, kids actually get to learn about animal facts along with their pictures.

Shell Model – Chemistry Flashcards Without Element Names

Shell Model – Chemistry Flashcards Without Element Names 118 cards for learning the periodic table Visual practice with atomic structure and electron configurations 🧪🔬 This printable flashcard set gives students a hands-on way to practice atomic structure and the shell model – without revealing the element names. Each of the 118 cards shows the atomic number, the chemical symbol, and a diagram of the electron distribution across shells. This encourages students to actively recall element names and deepen their understanding of how atomic structure relates to the periodic table. I’ve used these cards mainly for review and partner quizzes. Students really have to think: “What element has 11 electrons and that shell pattern?” or “Which group might this symbol belong to?” It shifts the focus from just memorizing the periodic table to actually understanding the structure behind it. What’s included: 118 printable flashcards (PDF) Each card includes: atomic number, symbol, and shell model (no element names) High-resolution layout, easy to print and cut Suggestions for classroom use included Classroom ideas: Use the cards as a “Find the Pairs” game: Print two sets and let students match identical cards or group elements by patterns. Use them for sorting tasks: metals vs. non-metals, main groups vs. transition metals, increasing number of shells, etc. Create mini-quiz stations: One student shows a card, the other has to guess the element name or describe properties based on the shell model. Let students use the cards to quiz themselves or work in pairs for peer learning. The fact that the element name is missing makes the activity more cognitively demanding – great for more advanced learners or as a follow-up to a unit on atomic structure. Students are more engaged when they can “figure things out” rather than just read off answers. The resource is ready to print. For repeated use, laminating is recommended. 📍 Best wishes, Heike from @Lernfitness Did You Know?
