This 3rd Grade Health Unit focuses on Nutrition and Physical Activity and is essential to help students with their health and wellness. There are seven units in all taught in 3rd grade that focus on health. These units include: Unit 1 that focuses on Personal Health and Wellness Unit 2 that focuses on Growth and Development Unit 3 teaches students about Nutrition and Physical Activity and how to eat right and stay active Unit 4 that helps students with Substance Use and Abuse and how to avoid bad substances Unit 5 that will teach students about Injury/ Violence Prevention Control and Safety Unit 6 that covers what happened during Covid and how to protect themselves while learning about Prevention/Control of Disease Unit 7 discusses our environment and how to help save our planet with Environmental Consumer Health In this unit, students will learn about the six basic nutrients that the body needs to be healthy. These nutrients include: water, protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, and minerals. Students will learn the function of each of these nutrients and how they help our bodies as well. There is a matching activity to test their knowledge on each of these six basic nutrients. Students will also learn about how much of these nutrients we need to eat daily. Examples of what to eat and how much is provided in this unit that is similar to the food pyramid. Based on what they should eat, students will draw a healthy meal. There is also a lesson on physical activity and different physical activities they can do to stay healthy. This unit meets Common Core Standards. It is 11 pages of fun engaging activities! At the end of the unit, there is an assessment to check for understanding. There are seven units that cover all the health requirements for 3rd grade. Worksheets Counting Objects In these worksheets pupils match numbers to groups of objects. There are hedgehogs to count! If you want to give students extra practice with place value, I have just the resource for you. What You Get: This is aRounding Worksheetthat was designed for 2nd grade students who are working on or have mastered this skill. It also works well as a review for students. It is a 2-page printable. The first page consists of 2-digit numbers. The second page consists of a combination of 2-digit and 3-digit numbers. This provides an increase in complexity and differentiation for students. How To Implement This Resource: You can print off enough copies of this worksheet for each student to have. You may also choose to print only a few copies and laminate those. If you choose to laminate them, students can use dry erase markers to write answers. This is a great way to turn this into a math center or small group activity. Students will begin with practice for rounding to the nearest 10. This comes in 3 different sections of completing number sequences, coloring numbers that are 5 or more, and rounding. On the next page, students will get additional practice with rounding to the nearest 10 and will finish with rounding numbers to the nearest 100. This is great for an independent assignment or homework. It also works well as a math quiz or assessment that could be scored for a grade. If you choose to have students complete it independently, allowing them to work with a partner or in small groups is also a great idea. I hope you enjoy! This is a Decomposing Areas Activity Pack. There are 2 worksheets included. For the first worksheet, students will: -Cut out the whole rectilinear shape. -Then cut (decompose) the whole shape into smaller rectilinear shapes to help determine the area of the whole. -Each square represents 1 square inch (or 1 in²). - Draw the outline of each smaller shape they created on the grid at the bottom of the page. They will be finding the area for 6 different shapes. When they have done so, they will find the total area of the whole rectilinear shape. An example of a possible solution is included. For the second worksheet, students will: -Look at the shapes shown on the graph paper. -Draw lines to decompose them into squares or rectangles and write the areas of each before adding them up. -Write their answers on the following page. -The first one is done for them. An answer key is included. Both of these worksheets can be completed independently, in small groups, or as homework. If this is a skill that has already been introduced and reviewed, this worksheet can be completed independently if you want to take a grade on it. Give students enough time to complete one (or both) of the worksheets without feeling rushed. If this is a new skill, small groups would be great so that you can informally assess how well students are beginning to master this skill. Small groups or homework will provide students with the additional practice they may need.
