This product covers the 2016 Virginia (VA) Standards of Learning (SOL) 3.11 The student will identify and draw representations of points, lines, line segments, rays, and angles. (note that this will also provide good background knowledge for the 2023 VA SOL 3.MG.4 The student will identify, describe, classify, compare, combine, and subdivide polygons. a) Describe a polygon as a closed plane figure composed of at least three line segments that do not cross.) It contains notes pages on lines, line segments, angles, rays and points. It also has notes pages on naming these geometric figures. There are practice pages for each topic, with an answer key included. The notes pages come in two sizes. The first size is a full-page size. You can print them as-is, or you can print them two to a pages. This is what I do as it saves on paper and the sheets will fit in a notebook. The second size is formatted to fit on a standard composition notebook page. Additionally, there are two links included in the pdf: one which opens a digital version of the notes, and another that opens a slide show version, optimized for a projector or interactive board. In both cases, which you click the link, you will be prompted to make a copy, which you can then use with Google Slides or download and use with Keynote or PowerPoint. What's included? Reading Made Simple — Free A_E Phonics Workbook These little workbooks have been a quiet favourite with families using Reading Made Simple for some time now. Each one focuses on a single sound and prints on just one sheet of A4 paper — double-sided, folded in half to make a neat A5 booklet that children can hold and work through at their own pace. They are entirely optional. The phonics programme works perfectly well without them, but many parents and teachers find them a useful companion — either as structured practice or simply as a source of ideas to dip into when needed. Tested by real children: One 5-year-old user is quoted as having said, 'The worksheet is the best bit of my lessons!' Other parents have noted that their child likes the worksheet because 'they think it is easy'. When learning is broken down into small, achievable steps, with no curve balls to throw them off track, every child can say, 'I can read!' When I hear these reviews, I know that I have succeeded in my aim to write a phonics curriculum that can help children of all abilities learn to read and spell. These little workbooks are just one small part of what there is to offer. Please do check out the website for more information. Each workbook offers a gentle mix of activities built around the target sound. Children will read short passages that practise the new sound alongside words from sounds already taught, track and identify the sound within words to support both reading and spelling, practise spelling and sentence writing, and work through simple editing exercises where they spot and correct mistakes. These small editing tasks are particularly worthwhile — they encourage children to look carefully at words rather than guessing from context. The workbooks are particularly well-suited to younger children just beginning their phonics journey, and to older children with special educational needs who are still building their foundational reading and spelling skills. That said, they will not suit every child. Some will find them too long, others too straightforward. Use your own judgement — pick the activities that fit, leave the rest, or set them aside entirely. There is no obligation and no right or wrong way to use them. To print: print double-sided, flipping on the short edge. Fold in half to create your A5 booklet. The answer page at the back is optional. One sheet of paper. One sound. Everything a child needs to practise, consolidate and grow in confidence.

There are many frames you can use for conferences to handout to parents PLUS lost of other sheets to keep communication lines You can choose which frames you might like to use for whatever purpose. I have my students draw a self portrait each report period and self-evaluate their progress for that timeframe.Parents LOVE to see the growthin the self portrait and we always get a giggle with what their child writes when filling out theself-evaluation form. I always start myconferences off with these 2 sheets somewhat like an ice breaker to ease into the conference. Every Friday for writing usually right after lunch, we write our Weekend News. We brainstorm ideas and then the children choose a frame and fill it in to bring home. It is somewhat like a weekly newsletter from the students. However, each child fills the frame in with their personal thoughts etc. The children have taped these in a journal and the journal goes back and forth from home and school to communicate what going on in school. Parents may write a letter back to their child if they so choose and then before we write our next journal entry we share either our own writing or our parent/guardian’s writing. Some students have chosen to write to an aunt, uncle, sister or brother. Any way you use these forms, will definitely makecommunication between home and School easy and fun! Decomposing Areas: Reversed Worksheet

This is a Decomposing Areas: Reversed Worksheet Set. The first worksheet is Decomposing Rectilinear Shapes in Reverse. Students will: -Cut out each of the rectilinear shapes. -Determine the area of each shape if each square represents 1 square foot (or 1 ft²) and write the areas on the lines before determining the total area. -There are shapes 5 shapes (labeled a – e) for students to cut out. After determining the area of each shape, students will: -Create a new, larger rectilinear shape using all 5 of your pieces -Represent the new rectilinear shape on the grid at the bottom of the page. Finally, students will answer 2 questions: What is the total area of your new rectilinear shape? Did your total area change? An answer key is included. The second worksheet is Decomposing Areas: Reversed. In this activity, students are given sets of area measurements. Their job is to make squares or rectangles that match these measurements in order to create a larger rectilinear shape. After creating the shapes, they will check to make sure the areas match. There are 9 problems to complete here. Grid paper is attached with the first problem already being complete for students. An answer key is included. Both of these worksheets can be completed independently, in small groups, or as homework. If this is a skill that has already been introduced and reviewed, this worksheet can be completed independently if you want to take a grade on it. If this is a new skill, small groups would be great so that you can informally assess how well students are beginning to master this skill.
