If you teach about the Road to Revolution in your class, this is a great way to get your students involved and engaged when you reach the Tea Act of 1773 and the Boston Tea Party 1773. Having students reenact history is an excellent way for them to "experience" what events were like. This is a great example. This play was written using eyewitness accounts and other excellent sources including information from the Boston Tea Party museum. If ever in Boston it is a must do! You even get to throw the tea overboard as a guest of the museum! It was a ton of fun. Bring the Tea Party to life in your classroom with this play. Materials: · Cardboard sheets. · Paper (for the sail) · Dowels or skewers for axles and structure. · Tape or glue. · Scissors. · Ruler or measuring tape. · Fan to provide wind power and markers or paint for decoration. Design Constraints: · The car must be primarily made of cardboard and paper. · The only allowed materials for the car's movement are dowels for axles and a paper sail. · The car cannot have any electronic or pre-made propulsion systems (e.g., no motors, batteries). · The vehicle must have at least two wheels. · The car must be freestanding and move straight on its own once the fan starts. · Decorations are permitted but cannot contribute to the car’s propulsion.
