Scientist Jacques Monod - Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Version (PDF & H5P) Jacques Monod – Gene Regulation and the Logic of Life Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Exercises (PDF + H5P) 🧬⚙️ This 45-minute resource introduces students in grades 9–11 to Jacques Monod – a French molecular biologist whose work helped uncover how genes are turned on and off. In many biology classes, students learn what DNA is and how proteins are made. But the question of how cells know which genes to activate – and when – often stays abstract. Monod, together with François Jacob, studied this in bacteria and developed the model of the lac operon. It’s a great example of how cells respond to their environment, and it laid the groundwork for much of what we know about gene regulation today. To make this topic more tangible, I’ve created a compact, ready-to-use lesson that breaks it down into manageable parts. It includes an informational text, a fact sheet, quiz questions with answers, and a creative partner task. The material comes in color and black-and-white versions, plus there’s a digital H5P version. What’s included: A clear, student-friendly text about Jacques Monod and the lac operon A fact sheet to help students sort and retain key information Quiz questions with an answer key – good for review or independent work A task where students design and exchange their own questions in pairs Printable PDF and interactive H5P formats for flexible use 💻 Answer key included ✅ I’ve used this resource during our genetics unit, especially when moving from DNA basics to regulation and gene expression. It also fits well in discussions about how scientific models are developed and tested. The partner task works well in small groups or for homework – depending on your setup. 🚀 Download now and bring the legacy of Jacques Monod into your biology lessons today! 📍 Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? This engaging and useful stock market project can teach your high school students all about several financial literacy topics: investing their savings, buying shares (stocks) in a company, calculating their gains and losses, investment volatility, calculating the mean, length of investment (time horizon) and more! How to Use: 1. On Day 1, have your students complete the first worksheet. They can use the included website to look at a variety of different stocks and their historical performances. They will divide up their thousand dollar investment between two different companies, and calculate how many shares the will be able to buy from each company they picked to invest in. 2. Then, schedule three separate classes over the next month or so to check on the stocks. Each time, your students will record that day's current share price and calculate their shares' current investment value. 3. On the final day, your students will calculate how much money they have gained or lost during the project. Then, each student will provide their gain or loss which will allow the calculation of your class's average stock performance during the project. [You can project the included table on a board and each student can fill in their gain or loss.] 4. Next, students will find out how the stock market performed on average during the timeframe of the project. They will utilize data from the S&P 500 to see if their class's average was better or worse than the stock market itself. 5. Finally, students will write a reflection about this project. A variety of prompts are included to help your students think about volatility, lower risk of ETFs, and the importance of thinking about how long one can invest their money. Lesson Plan on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein

Lesson Plan on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Literature, ELA, Reading, Grade 9, 10, 11, 12, Lesson Plans, Teacher Tools, Activities, Worksheets & Printables

This is a lesson plan lasting 90 minutes focused on the classic book Frankenstein, authored by Mary Shelley. Shelley composed Frankenstein at the age of 19, and it was released the next year in 1818. The novel narrates the tale of Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist seeking the key to life who produces the hideous being in a clandestine experiment. The lesson plan incorporates the video summary of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein by Video SparkNotes. A separate printable worksheet for students contains numerous questions. The responses are given individually at the conclusion. The lesson is perfect for students in Grades 9 through 12. Frankenstein is full of meanings. It implies that social isolation is the main source of evil as well as its consequence. The Monster clearly states that his separation from humanity has led him to become a killer: “My guardians had left, severing the sole connection that tied me to the world.

Lesson Plan on Twelfth Night

Lesson Plan on Twelfth Night
Literature, ELA, Reading, Drama, Creative Arts, Elementary, Middle School, High School, Activities, Lesson Plans, Teacher Tools, Worksheets & Printables

Twelfth Night incorporates many classic elements of comedic theater. At the core of its structure lies a network of complex romantic liaisons (Orsino loves Olivia, Olivia is smitten with Cesario and later Sebastian, Viola has feelings for Orsino, while Sir Andrew and Malvolio are attracted to Olivia); disguise (the plot centers around Viola disguising herself as a male servant to survive after being shipwrecked in Illyria); mistaken identities (Viola and Sebastian are twins so alike that nobody can tell them apart); trickery and mischief; a rich offering of song and dance; the satire of hypocrisy, excess, and arrogance; a fleeting period of chaos and confusion; concluding with a resolution where all misunderstandings are resolved and three marriages take place. This ebook features an extensive lesson plan focused on 'Twelfth Night' and includes multiple activities intended to last at least 90 minutes. A unique printable worksheet for learners is included, along with the answer guide.

Life Sciences, Science, Biology, STEM, History, Social Studies, Biographies, Inventors, Basic Science, Nature & Plants, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Quizzes, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Projects, Activities

Theodor Schwann – Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Version (PDF & H5P) This lesson-ready material introduces students to Theodor Schwann 🧪 and his contribution to one of the most important concepts in biology: the cell theory 🔬. While many students in grades 7 to 10 already know that all living things are made of cells, they often don’t know where this insight comes from – or who helped uncover it. In this lesson, students explore the work of Theodor Schwann, who, together with Matthias Schleiden, laid the foundation for modern cell biology. The materials are designed to fit into a 45-minute session ⏱️ and work well in both print and digital formats. I’ve used them in regular biology lessons as well as for independent learning phases or when a quick but meaningful sub plan was needed. The resource includes a short, accessible reading passage about Schwann’s scientific discoveries. After reading, students fill in a fact sheet 📝 to summarize key information, and then answer quiz questions to check their understanding. What worked really well in my class was the final task: students created their own questions based on the material and exchanged them with a partner. It led to some thoughtful discussions and helped them reflect on what they had actually learned 💬. You’ll find two versions of the printable PDFs – one in color 🎨 and one in black and white. The included H5P version offers a digital alternative for interactive use, especially useful on learning platforms or digital boards (note: the H5P version contains no design elements, just the interactive tasks). Included: Informational text about Theodor Schwann Fact sheet task Quiz questions with answer key Creative student task (write your own questions) Printable PDFs (color & B/W) H5P interactive version The materials are self-explanatory and suitable for classroom use, homework, or digital learning 💻. 🚀 Download now and bring the legacy of Theodor Schwann into your biology lessons today! 📍 Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Human Body and Senses: Life Science Reading Comprehension Passages (PDF) This very engaging collection of life science reading passages about Contact Lenses, Goosebumps, and Skin is designed to bridge the gap between science and literacy through strengthening reading comprehension and sparking scientific curiosity in middle school students. Each passage blends English Language Arts skills with accurate science content that supports NGSS classroom practice. Ideal for interdisciplinary learning in ELA and Science. Suitable for Grade 9 review, too! What Is Included? There are (3) informational passages: Clear Vision: The Story of Contact Lenses: Early lenses were hard, bulky, and uncomfortable, but the idea was simple: correct vision right on the eye. Modern soft lenses let oxygen in, stay in place, and give people clear sight without glasses. Goosebumps: A Chilly Reminder of Our Past: When you get cold or scared, tiny muscles pull on each hair and make bumps. It once helped our hairy ancestors look bigger and hold heat, so today it’s mostly a leftover reflex. Skin: Your Protective Shield: Skin keeps germs out, moisture in, and helps your body stay at a steady temperature. With nerves and blood vessels close to the surface, it also lets you feel and heal.
