Fear of insects Social Story
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Social Skills, Special Education Needs (SEN), Not Grade Specific, Activities
For children who experience intense fear or phobias related to insects, this social story resource provides supporting explanations and coping strategies. Specifically tailored for children on the autism spectrum who may struggle reading social cues, the story aims to logically address the reasons behind insect fears and equip children with skills to manage them. Using a reassuring tone, the social story explains how most insects pose no real danger to humans, as many are so tiny compared to a person’s size. While some insects like bees can sting, the story gives facts about how insect stings rarely cause serious harm. It also highlights all the useful things insects do, like pollinating plants. The second half of the story outlines constructive ways children can deal with insect fears when encountered. This includes techniques like staying calm, thinking logical thoughts about how small insects are, and reminding themselves that insects are useful to their earth. By addressing both the emotional and reality-based sides of insect fears, this social story uses clear language and visuals to teach autistic children coping methods. It validates their feelings while also gently challenging catastrophic thinking. The final outcome is a set of strategies children can employ themselves when afraid, giving them skills, reassurance, and power to manage phobias. These books should be used over and over to reinforce the point so I would suggest either putting the pages into a display book or laminating and binding them. Math, Early Math, Numbers, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Activities
Are you looking for fun activities for practicing number recognition? These pixel art worksheets are perfect for getting your students to practice number identification for the numbers 2-9! Different options for how to use this resource: Cut and paste You can choose to print the colour square pages on white paper. -This is the simplest option, but it will take a lot of colour ink. Or you can choose to print the black line squares pages on colour paper. -This will use a lot less ink, but it will take a little more work to prepare. -You may struggle to find colour paper in all the colours I have used. If you have a problem finding the right colours, you can generally substitute a different colour if you need to. Simply look at the answer key to see what the pictures are and choose an appropriate substitute colour. Colour by number You will only need to print the worksheets and allow the students to colour the squares themselves. Preparation: Worksheets 3 printing options: 1. Full colour - best if you will be able to use all the same colours that I have used. 2. Partial colour – I have left the colours blank. You will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . This is best if you need to make some substitutions because you are printing on colour paper and cannot find all the correct colours. 3. Black and white - like with the partial colour version, you will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . Squares Pages If you are using this resource as a cut and paste activity . 2 printing options: 1 .Colour squares pages (Print on white paper. Each page will have information telling you what picture it is meant for. Simply give each student a block with the different colour squares along with their worksheet) 2. Black line squares pages (print on colour paper. Each page will have information telling you which picture it is meant for, as well as the recommended colour paper to use, and how many students will be able to get their squares from one page. Cut on the dotted lines and give each student one section of each colour page for the picture they are working on.) 4th Grade Math Bingo Games (Multiple Games)
, Grade 4, Activities, Games
This file contains questions for multiple 4th grade math bingo games . The topics covered are place value, remainder in division, factors, multiples, converting fractions to decimal, adding and subtracting decimals, area and perimeter, finding change with money, and converting mixed numbers to improper fractions. There are blank bingo cards for you to use. Students can create their own boards or you can easily make them. Directions for Bingo Game 1. Have students make a 4 x 4 Bingo Board or pass out the included blank boards. Students will fill in the numbers 1 -16 in random order on their board. This way everyone will have all answers, but will have a different board. 2. As the teacher, you will choose the questions you ask, one question per number. Use a highlighter to mark the questions you ask. This way you will keep track and not repeat an answer. Each time you play Bingo, use a different color highlighter. 3. Ask about 8- 10 questions per game. You will usually have 5-6 students to bingo with this many questions, if you have at least 20 students. I give out a piece of candy for bingos. 4. You have enough questions for about 12-15 games .
