Final ND Blend Find and Colour Phonics Worksheet
Special Resources, ELA, Special Education Needs (SEN), Language Development, Phonics, Kindergarten, Preschool, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
This final blend _ND fun, Find and Color worksheet for final blends is excellent for acquainting children orally with final consonant blends and helping them develop the necessary phonemic awareness in preparation for more advanced blending work, involving four phonemes. What is included in the pack? One PDF sheet for the final _ND blend. What do the worksheets involve? Pupils are instructed to combine the two letters on the worksheet and then look for objects that end with that consonant blend. Then, these items ought to be coloured, leaving the others uncoloured. Children can easily work on the sheet unaided once they have been instructed, although, with those children with special needs, it is strongly suggested that an adult works with the child for maximum benefit. How to use The introduction of the concept of final blends needs to be done thoroughly. When I work with children, especially those with a special need, I first like to teach children to blend two consonant letters. Then I work on developing the children's phonemic awareness: that being the ability to hear two consonant letters blended at the end of a word, easily. Some children find final blends easier than initial blends as they can sound out the first three sounds, and simply add a fourth: h-a-n: han-d. I call /n/ 'naughty' 'n' as he likes to hide in words: children are apt to miss out the nasal sound and spell hand as 'had'. I then ask them to sound back what they have written and we laugh. Often they can quickly insert the missing letter, having had plenty of practice aurally, such as this sheet affords. However all pupils need practice, some more than others. These worksheets can assist by first encouraging students to blend the two consonant letters and then by helping them to hear the blend at the end of a word. As often as you can, practice blending the letters in each final blend and encourage the students to follow suit. I find that modelling is key at this stage. Who are the final blends Find and colour worksheets for? Young learners Those with a special need Due to their non-babyish nature, they can be successfully used with older ESL/EFL pupils. Answer keys: The answer key is included on the sheet, in small print.

Final Blend ND: Read and Colour
Special Resources, ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Reading, Kindergarten, Preschool, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
This fun, Read and Color worksheet for final Consonant blend ND words is an excellent means of encouraging children to become familiar with new blends. What is included in the pack? One PDF sheet for the Consonant blend ending ND. What do the worksheets involve? An adult should instruct pupils as to how to colour-code the endings: and/end/ind/ond, by the code given. An adult will need to help with this as the children are not expected to be able to read the colour names. The child should then read the words to an adult (you will want to ensure they get it correct the first time and not make mistakes). The child colours the picture, reading the words and checking against the code to see which colour to each shape. Children can easily work on the sheet unaided once they have been instructed and the words colour-coded, although, with children with special needs, it is strongly suggested that an adult works with the child for maximum benefit. How to use As each new blend is introduced the teacher has several aims: The child should be thoroughly familiar with the new blend - to recognise it wherever it is seen; To be able to track the new blend in words; To be able to decode words containing the new consonant blend easily To distinguish a blend from other similar blends, both visually and aurally. ND is often confused with NT. This fun read and colour activity provides help for all four! Pupils will need as much practice as they can to achieve the four things listed above and for some children, this can be tedious; the teacher must think of creative ways to give as much repetition as needed and to keep the child engaged. This fun Read and Colour sheet is ideal as a new way to engage the child: the child will be reading and re-reading and in doing so may even become familiar with the words, which will aid reading fluency. Who is the final ND blend Read and Colour worksheet for? Young learners Those with a special need Due to its non-babyish nature , it can be successfully used with older ESL/EFL pupils. Answer keys: An answer key is not necessary for this activity.

U.S States and Capitals Set 3 TASK CARDS
Social Studies, Geography, History, History: USA, Grade 5, 6, 7, Task Cards, Worksheets & Printables
Are you teaching U.S. states and capitals to your upper elementary or middle school learners? Add this learning activity to your curriculum that is sure to excite and engage learners as they focus on geography and history of the United States. This set of 20 task cards rounds out the final 10 states (Texas through Wyoming) as your learners strengthen their skills in learning about this great country. Ten additional states are also included as a quick review of states and capitals they have previously learned. Your learners will enjoy the different modes of learning presented in this set of task cards. There are four types of cards, all which focus on the concept of states and capitals, but also add an element of fun facts about the states. As learners complete the main objective of identifying states and their capitals, they will also be presented with state birds, state flowers, state flags, and the years of statehood. Their task of answering each question is not limited to simply writing the capital of the given state. Instead, they will use previously acquired knowledge to find answers to the provided clues. They’ll use map and geography skills, pair states with capitals and vice versa, and identify the correct state capital from given choices. Task cards are a unique learning activity in that they are versatile and engage various parts of learners’ brains. Rather than sitting at a desk and completing a worksheet, task cards get learners up and moving. They can focus on the task at hand while also engaging with fellow learners and/or taking in sunshine and fresh air in an outdoor learning environment. As an educator, you will benefit from the year over year learning activity these task cards provide. Print the cards on cardstock and laminate for durability. Two answer recording sheets are included on one page to allow for a reduction in ink or number of copies. To save you time while grading, the answer key is provided. See below for details of each task card. PAGE 1: Task Cards #1-4: TX (silhouette and multiple choice), VT (year of statehood and picture of the state flag), WY (picture of the state flower), WI (picture of the state bird) PAGE 2: Task Cards # 5-8: VA (silhouette and multiple choice), WA (year of statehood and picture of the state flag), TN (picture of the state flower), SD (picture of the state bird) PAGE 3: Task Cards #9-12: UT (silhouette and multiple choice), WV (year of statehood and picture of the state flag), AR (picture of the state flower), CA (picture of the state bird) PAGE 4: Task Cards #13-16: AK (silhouette and multiple choice), FL (year of statehood and picture of the state flag), NE (picture of the state flower), MD (picture of the state bird) PAGE 5: Task Cards # 17-20: NC (silhouette and multiple choice), MT (year of statehood and picture of the state flag), MA (picture of the state flower), LA (picture of the state bird) PAGE 6: Two answer recording sheets ANSWER KEY Two additional sets are available: U.S. States and Capitals Set 1 TASK CARDS and U.S. States and Capitals Set 2 TASK CARDS.

They’ll use a variety of learning techniques as they focus on states from Massachusetts through South Carolina (in alphabetical order). By the time they complete the set of task cards, not only will their skills in this area be stronger, but they will have gained fun facts about each state as well. This is not just another activity where learners are simply repeating facts they’ve memorized. Your learners in grade 5, grade 6, or grade 7 will enjoy the challenge each of the cards presents. They’ll be asked to find either the name of the given state or its capital by using written and/or visual clues. Concepts presented include silhouettes of states, state flags, year of statehood, state flowers, and state birds. Some clues also require map skills as learners are asked to identify states by their geographic location. If you’ve used task cards before, you know they offer a different level of learning as they get learners up and moving. They can be used indoors on a rainy day or outdoors when the weather beckons. One of the best parts is, putting a bit of prep work in at the beginning will end up saving you time and money in the future. For year over year use, print the cards on cardstock and laminate. U.S. States and Capitals Set 1 TASK CARDS
Social Studies, Geography, History, History: USA, Grade 5, 6, 7, Task Cards, Worksheets & Printables
Check out this engaging set of task cards that focuses on U.S. states and capitals. Upper elementary and middle school learners can use this activity to practice and/or re-enforce their skills as they apply what they’ve learned to completing these 20 task cards . The cards were designed with 4 different styles. While each focus on states and their capitals, the answers are found using various skills. Learners will answer via multiple choice, providing the name of a capital to the given name of a state, providing the name of a state to the given name of the capital, and providing the state capital based on the geographic clue given about a state. Along with the variety of questions, these cards provide learners with various facts about the states, including the year of statehood, the state flag, the state flower, and the state bird. This set of cards is great in that they focus on only 20 states and capitals. This allows your learners to break down a larger task into something more manageable. Rather than focus on all 50 states, they can give their attention on a fewer number and continue once they reach mastery. This set of cards includes states from Alabama through Maryland, in alphabetical order. Use this product as a fun alternative to simply memorizing and repeating facts. History comes alive in your 6th to 9th grade classrooms when you introduce compelling primary source texts for analysis. But analyzing a primary source document can be challenging for your students to understand. This 33-page resource, Tecumseh- A Warrior's Speech- Primary Source Analysis, Questions, Discussion, and Assessment offers teachers two lesson plans : an introduction or review of what primary sources are and how to analyze a primary source document by reading it 4 times for specific purposes. Student discussions are engaging, lively, and collaborative as they delve deeply into understanding Tecumseh's speech, his reasoning and values as the indigenous tribes confronted encroaching land settlement and theft from white settlers. The lesson comes with 2 assessments : a multiple choice and short answer assessment and a creative "Say, Mean. Matter" assessment in which students choose a quote, passage, or paragraph from the speech, explain what it means, and analyzes why it matters. A copy of the primary source, Tecumseh- A Warrior's Speech as well as a paraphrased version is included so you can provide differentiated instruction for your ELL, RSP, 504, and struggling readers. SH Phonic Worksheets for Early Years/Intervention/dyslexia
Special Resources, ELA, Special Education Needs (SEN), Language Development, Phonics, Reading, Spelling, Vocabulary, Writing, Grade 1, 2, 3, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
About This Product This is a pack of 30 Phonic SH worksheets to teach the digraph SH, specially designed for those with special needs, including those with dyslexia or who may be suspected of being dyslexic, but will work equally well with young learners in Kindergarten/EYFS/Y1. These sheets are LETRS/Science of Reading and UK GOV requirements aligned. These worksheets also align with the most popular phonic programmes, including RWI and Letters and Sounds. Who are these worksheets for? I have written them for pupils who struggle with processing information - especially sounds. This includes children who are DYSLEXIC or have ANY other kind of processing disorder. Such children may have failed with other methods of teaching phonics. Such pupils need activities that: ·are highly structured - one tiny step at a time building on the one before using only a limited number of words to start with and only using words that the child has already learnt to sound out, with no nasty surprises. ·Have only a little on each pageas these pupils tire easily. What makes these worksheets special? I have a powerful three-step process which I use with my special needs pupils, which is worked out throughout the worksheets: 1. See it!where we focus on becoming aware of the new sound in words. This involves first hearing the new sound in words and then seeing it in words (tracking). 2. Sound-it-out!Having learnt to see the new sound in words, we learn to sound out these words to read and write them. We begin by usingsound-it-out boxesfor reading and spelling which help the child to segment the word before blending the sounds. Once the child can read and write individual words, we work on fluency by building familiarity with the common words in the new sound family. Once the child can sound the words out to read and spell confidently, we move on to recognising them/using them in longer reading and dictation passages, as soon as the child is able. I provide 2 reading passages with comprehension exercises and one dictation passage, with a page in the workbook dedicated to it, with room for a picture, which again cements understanding. 3. Write it! Incorporated into the above two steps, we constantly write the new sound. This adds a multi-sensory dimension to our work - we see with our eyes, we sound it with our mouth parts and voice, and then we move by writing. All three steps work together to help the child feel in control of his/her learning and to become a successful, confident learner. We finish each sound with a dictation which culminates our work before we move on to the next sound. I try to give this a week after we finish the book, to act as revision. The dictation: Read this passage to your pupil, who should write it. Have the child read his/her work and check for errors. Make sure the writing is completely accurate before saying the child has finished, including full stops and capital letters correctly used. Flashcards are included. What is included in the pack: 30 Activities 2 Games A word search Flashcards with room to add your own words Please note: This pack is in a series: Find the bundle here: https://teachsimple.com/product/phonic-worksheets-for-special-needs-bundle-highly-structured I do hope others find these Special Needs Phonic worksheets helpful for their pupils with ordering and processing difficulties!
