Guided Reading Lesson Plan & Activities for Grade 12

Guided Reading Lesson Plan & Activities for Grade 12
Reading, ELA, Grade 12, Activities, Lesson Plans, Teacher Tools

Guided reading allows teachers to monitor students while they read texts appropriate to their instructional reading levels. It typically includes these standard components: - Collaborating in small teams - Aligning student reading skills with text difficulty levels - Providing each individual in the group with identical text - Presenting the text - Hearing people read - Encouraging students to unify their reading strategies - Involving students in discussions regarding the text. The objective is to assist Grade 12 students in creating strategies for independent application. Work emphasizes processes essential for proficient reading, like cross-referencing print with meaning, instead of memorizing the definitions of words from a specific book. In guided reading, educators observe student reading behaviors and ensure that texts are accessible to them, enabling learners to combine their newly learned skills into a cohesive, integrated reading system. This ebook will assist you in practicing guided reading with your 12th-grade classes. It includes a complete lesson plan with activities and recommended answers that takes about 90 minutes.

Scientist Konrad Lorenz - Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Version (PDF & H5P) Konrad Lorenz – Animal Behavior and the Roots of Ethology Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Exercises (PDF + H5P) 🦢🧠 This 45-minute resource introduces students in grades 7–10 to Konrad Lorenz – a key figure in the development of modern ethology, the study of animal behavior. Many students enjoy learning about animals, but the scientific side of behavior research ist oft weniger bekannt. Lorenz is especially known for his work on imprinting in geese – observing how young animals form strong attachments during a critical period after birth. His careful observations helped shape the way we think about instinct, learning, and behavior in both animals and humans. To make this topic approachable, I’ve put together a compact, ready-to-use lesson. It includes a short informational text, a fact sheet, quiz questions with answers, and a creative partner task. The materials are available in both color and black-and-white versions, plus there’s an H5P version for digital use. What’s included: A short, student-friendly text about Konrad Lorenz and his contributions to behavioral science A fact sheet to help students organize key ideas Quiz questions (with answer key) for review or self-check A partner task where students come up with their own questions and exchange them Formats: Printable/digital PDF and interactive H5P 💻 Answer key included ✅ I’ve used this material when introducing the basics of behavior in biology – especially to discuss how scientific observation works in practice. It also fits nicely into lessons on instinct vs. learning or historical perspectives on animal research. The flexible format works well for independent study, pair work, or short projects. 🚀 Download now and bring the legacy of Konrad Lorenz into your biology lessons today! 📍 Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? The movie follows the character of John Proctor (played by Daniel Day-Lewis), a farmer who is married to Elizabeth Proctor (played by Joan Allen). When several young girls in the town are caught dancing in the woods, they accuse various people in the community of witchcraft, including John's wife. As hysteria and fear grip the town, the local authorities, led by the Reverend Parris (played by Bruce Davison), begin conducting trials to determine who is guilty of witchcraft. John finds himself caught up in the frenzy, as he tries to defend his wife and confront the lies and deceit that are tearing apart the community. The film explores themes of truth, justice, and the dangers of mass hysteria and mob mentality. It also examines the power dynamics at play in the town, with wealthy and powerful individuals using the trials to further their own agendas and manipulate the townspeople. In the end, the movie depicts the tragic consequences of the witch trials, with many innocent people being executed and the town left in turmoil. The film serves as a powerful commentary on the dangers of allowing fear and suspicion to drive our actions, and the importance of standing up for what is right even in the face of overwhelming opposition. This product includes a character guide, time stamps, and 32-questions that will help your students get this most out of this movie! The product comes with a teacher key. Ready to use - no prep!

Power Struggle, the Defeat of the Spanish Armada (1588), a skit

Power Struggle, the Defeat of the Spanish Armada (1588), a skit
Social Studies, Middle School, Homeschool Resources, High School, Activities

I love getting my students actively engaged in the classroom, and what better way than by reenacting history? This skit brings to life the dramatic events of the summer of 1588, showcasing the importance of England’s victory over the Spanish Armada in the English Channel. There are many roles for your students. And if you have students that are less inclined to volunteer for skits, they can be Spanish or English sailors. For added fun, they can throw "paper balls" at each other during the Battle of Gravelines scene, making the experience both educational and entertaining. This includes part of the famous speech given by Queen Elizabeth I during the height of the battle. Most importantly, the skit ends with a review of why this battle was important - First, the power of Spain begins to slowly decline while England's star begins to rise. Secondly, Spain will no longer be able to stop the English from establishing colonies - or a foothold - on the North American continent. Jamestown will be established within 20 years. I use this skit to enhance my lesson on The English Come to North America , helping students understand the historical roots of England’s presence in the New World. Lasting about 10–15 minutes, it’s a great supplement to your curriculum as well!

Henry Louis Le Chatelier – Understanding Chemical Equilibrium A short reading and worksheet resource for grades 8–10 science classes (PDF + H5P) ⚖️🧪 A printable and digital resource for grades 8–10 science and cross-curricular teaching 🧪🧠 This resource introduces students to Henry Louis Le Chatelier, the French chemist best known for his work on chemical equilibrium. His principle – describing how systems respond to changes in concentration, temperature, or pressure – is a key concept in chemistry classrooms around the world. With this material, students not only learn about Le Chatelier’s scientific contribution but also get a glimpse of the person behind the theory. The tasks are structured clearly and can be used in regular chemistry lessons or as part of a non-specialist substitute plan. No prior knowledge is required to get started, and the layout supports both independent and pair work. Included in this resource: Informational text about Henry Le Chatelier’s life and research A worksheet for creating a scientist profile based on the reading Quiz questions with solutions for quick review Two optional follow-up tasks: – Students create their own questions about the text – Exchange and answer questions in pairs File formats: – PDF (printable and digital) – Editable DOCX (text only) – H5P version (interactive and image-free, suitable for LMS use) How to use it in class: I’ve used this material as part of an introduction to equilibrium in chemistry or to wrap up a unit on reaction rates and reversible processes. The reading offers students some historical context, which helps them see that the science they’re learning is connected to real people and ideas. The H5P format supports digital work and allows for self-checking. It’s also helpful for remote learning or homework. With little to no prep required, this resource makes it easy to enrich your science curriculum. Have fun exploring the world of science with your students! Warmly, Lernfitness Did You Know?
