They will create a paper toolbox, learn 4 different categories of coping, and write/draw with a prompt on a separate handout. The coping skills they will learn about are; slow breathing, say what you see, hear, and feel, think of something to look forward to, and do what you enjoy. This is most suitable for kindergarten, first, second and third grades. There is some reading required but teachers and parents can help the students understand what each skill is. There are visuals on the coping skill sheets as well. There is a page of directions and a link to a video on belly breathing. This activity allows students to practice counting money. It does employ the hairy money strategy for some questions. The coins are not grouped by denomination. This can be used as a review activity , a summative assessment, or a formative assessment to see which students have mastered the skill of counting money. It was made based on the Virginia SOLs, specifically SOL 3.6 but can be used with other grades and in other states. Included is a printable pdf and a link to a digital version for paperless or virtual classrooms. When you click the link, you will be prompted to create your own copy.
