Writing Prompts Writing prompts are designed to continue the theme or lessons learned in the story. Students are persuaded to write in a variety of ways and each prompt includes several cues to help. Environmental print is any words or images that are immediately visible in our environment. It includes things like signs, logos, advertisements and product packaging. You encounter environmental print all the time, but did you know it can also help us learn how to read? Children around the age of 3 years and above begin to recognize environmental print, such as street signs, labels, and advertisements. Environmental print allows them to learn important sight words that are commonly seen in the environment. This reading game provides a way for children to have fun while learning about environmental print. This interactive PowerPoint game is great for boosting reading confidence for emerging readers and is engaging and fun for students to play as well. It includes over 100 environmental print such as logos, characters, places to eat and brands and more! The more students are aware that environmental print surrounds them, the more they will interact with the print around them. Don't be surprised if after using this activity with your students that you get excited announcements from them in the hallways calling out "exit" signs or reading the Crayola crayons around the classroom!
