This resource, Kindergarten Health: Prevention and Control of Disease - Coronavirus / Covid-19 Facts, is a great tool to teach about the epic coronavirus that plagued the world in 2020. This unit is suited for first graders in a simple, yet accurate manner to increase understanding of this disease on what is the disease, how it started, how it spread throughout the world, and how society responded to this disease in keeping people safe. There are colored pages and pages in black and white. There are also opportunities for children to read some of the words, learn new vocabulary words, trace sentences, and they will even draw their own "novel" virus. Furthermore, students will gain a better understanding of how they can protect themselves, their families, and friends from other diseases that may affect them in the future. Last, there is a mask that students can decorate to show off their creativity. This is a Phonic spelling programme. Not only will it teach a child to spell, but also to write. Just add a good handwriting programme. The spelling programme can be used with all ages from 5 to 99, however, if used with a young learner I strongly advise using the programme to teach both reading and spelling at the same time. The spelling programme can be used: with children who have learnt to read, but need a spelling/writing programme with children who have tried another phonic programme and not made much progress with reading and/or spelling/writing with a special needs child who needs a very structured approach to learning by home educators by parents wishing to help their child at home About the programme The programme is very flexible and can be made to fit the child, rather than the child to fit the programme. Being highly structured, each new lesson builds on the one before, constantly revising the previously taught material The spelling programme will take 41 weeks to teach. One new sound is taught each week. What is included? The teacher's manual with full lesson plans and helpful teaching tips A list of the keywords for each lesson with the phonic sound highlighted - for practice and revision 39 spelling worksheets The Reading Made Simple Phonic flashcards The Odd Word flashcards About the worksheets The worksheets use time-honoured exercises to help pupils to become familiar with the new sound and revise previously taught ones. They include such exercises as tracking the new sound in words, proofreading as well as comprehension questions. Children generally find them fun because they are so easy due to the way learning is structured throughout the programme. SEL Presentation-The Core Four

In this SEL presentation, students will learn about the "core four" as a way to figure out how someone else is feeling. This is the building block of empathy and understanding how someone is feeling. This product has a 12 slide Google Slides Presentation with the last 4 slides as handouts and activities for the lesson plan. Students will understand that the core four is looking at the key 4 body parts; the eyes, eyebrows, mouth and hands. They will analyze 4 pictures of real people and guess how they are feeling based on the core four. After they analyze the real children, they will play a game of charades with partners or in groups. There are 6 different emotions to act out-each have an emoji as well as the feeling word. No reading is required. Then there are 2 extension SEL worksheets. One is identifying what people are feeling in a picture, they will circle the feeling word and write down which part of the core four helped them figure it out. The next handout is a fun Find the 9 Differences in an emoji picture. The answer is on the following slide. This lesson is good for pre-k, kindergarten, first and second grades. Guided Reading is a research-based instruction process whereby the teacher works with small grouping of students being equal in a particular reading achievement level. The teacher provides for each reader's development of effective reading competencies. However different than in the earlier days of reading groups, small and temporary groups are flexible and dynamic. The observance and evaluation of the progress of readers are done by teachers on a systematic basis. Thus, grouping and regrouping students is based on the strengths of students and the intense changing needs throughout their reading development. In the 1960s in New Zealand, Guided Reading was developed. It was enhanced over the years after it arrived in the United States thanks to educators like Gay Su Pinnell and Lesley Fountas. In 1996, Fountas & Pinnell published their enormously influential book, Guided Reading: Good First Teaching for All Children (Heinemann). This book changed how reading was taught, and it is still taught today to over a million teachers worldwide. The aim of Guided Reading lessons is to develop effective readers. A set of 13 books is bundled together with all 13 worksheets of the Guided Reading series for grades KG-12. There are lesson plans and different activities for every grade, with the answers in the end section of the worksheet.

A spelling programme suitable for dyslexics and those needing a slower, more systematic approach. This is the second book in the Reading Made Simple programme of phonics instruction . Reading Made Simple is a programme of phonics instruction that aims to make reading easier for everyone. This programme will give you all the tools you need to help a child gain confidence as a reader and/or writer, using phonics instruction. It is popular amongst homeschooling families, but can equally be used by private tutors and is simple enough to be used to supplement school work by parents. About Reading Made Simple The programme is Very simple to teach: One basic lesson format and no complicated phonics language to learn Flexible - no one-size-fits-all all. What is included in the pack? The complete teaching programme for Level 2, 54 lessons and full instructions for teaching the lessons Word lists for each of the 54 phonics families taught in Level 2. 54 Matching worksheets teaching spelling, reading comprehension, editing/proofreading skills, grammar and punctuation relevant to this level of instruction. Which phonics sounds are taught? The lessons cover 54 of the most common phonics patterns: ck, oo, ee, sh, ch, nd/nt ending, nk endings, th, ng, ing, ar, or, a-e, i-e, o-e, u-e, ai, ea, oa, high, it, ay, ou, aw, oi, ur, al, er, y ending both ee and eye, ea saying/e/, ow as in cow, a saying /ar/, long vowels with no 'e', ow saying oe, ew, oy and rules concerning 'wa' words, air, au, ou (u), tion, ph, are (care), ear (earth/bear), ough, war. About the lessons: Pupils study a set of around ten to fifteen words per week, all with a common sound. The lessons are simple, following a set format and taking one week each to give sufficient practice. Weekly dictations help the child to apply new knowledge while revising previously taught sounds. Word lists Accompanying word lists are provided.
