Letter P Worksheets + PowerPoint Lesson Lesson 16 teaches the letter Pp and its related phonic sound through a 34-slide PowerPoint lesson, and 5 follow-up activity worksheets. All you need to teach the phonic letter P! Whether in school or at home, this series of phonic presentations can help you effectively teach initial/beginning sounds to all pupils, including those with special needs/dyslexia. This lesson is part of a synthetic, systematic phonics programme for all abilities, including those suspected of being dyslexic. This lesson is in the first stage of the Reading Made Simple programme, where we teach the initial, or beginning, sounds. The ability to hear the initial/beginning sound is stressed throughout, while we learn to associate each letter with its sound. Each lesson can stand alone, but the activities will presume knowledge of the previous letters in the alphabet as Reading Made Simple teaches the initial sounds in alphabetical order. Special features of the Letter P Worksheets and PowerPoint presentation: The PowerPoint is silent so that you can interact with your child in the best way for them: full instructions are provided at the bottom of each slide - be sure to show 'Notes'. The PowerPoint is editable so that you can make it fit your pupils. Science of Reading Aligned Truly phonetic; no 'i' for 'ice-cream'. We focus heavily on phonemic awareness, which is so necessary for a head start in phonics The child is given plenty of opportunities to learn the necessary skills - perfection is not expected in lesson 1. Use in class Use at home by parents or for home education Suggested Method: Introduce each letter in turn to your pupil. Have a flashcard of the letter ready. Say each letter's sound to the child and ask him/her to repeat it thrice. Explain that some words begin with this sound. Give an example. You can use the lesson as teacher training for yourself, to learn how to teach your child, or to use it with the child. Choose suitable activities (matching your child's ability) from the pack of worksheets. Notes are suggestions only. Use language appropriate to your pupil and be sure to interact naturally. However, could you focus on the child's hearing of the sounds at the beginning of words? This is often overlooked in the quest to help children learn the initial sounds as quickly as possible. A comprehensive pack of 114 fully differentiated phonic worksheetscovering all of the digraphs and trigraphs for phases 3 and 4 of the UK Gov. Letters and Sounds phonic programme, except ‘ure’. The sounds covered are: ck, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, and er, in this order. When can I use these sheets? They are great for revision, general classwork, or homework. They can be used with large or small groups or with individuals by tutors. How can I use the Phases 3 and 4 Phonic Worksheets? Use them for assessment , and reinforcement activities; blow them up for whole class/group teaching or send them home for extra practice once taught in class. Copy, reduce, and enlarge as much as you like. What is included in the pack? I provide up to four sheets at two levels for most sounds: the first set for phase 3, with no consonant blends, and the second for phase 4 including words with consonant blends. Thereby giving plenty of scope for differentiation. Fully differentiated, they meet the real needs of the average class and are fully systematic: no words are introduced for which the student has not yet learned the necessary skills to decode. They provide ample practice for students in both reading and spelling. Sheets with mixed sounds are included too, as well as plenty of sentences to read and puzzles. Can I use them with other programmes? They are suitable for use with other schemes as long as you make sure that your children know the sounds necessary to complete the sheet. No clip art. This unit focuses only on the Long O sounds. Learning how to read can be the most challenging activity for students and for a teacher. Understanding that the combination of letters can make the same vowel sound requires lots of repetitive practice of reading and writing these words with these sounds. There are other phonics units that I sell that focuses on each of the long vowels with a combination of different letters. Reading can be made easier with these phonic helps that repeatedly encourage students to practice these Long O sounds. Activities include: - Reading comprehension and identifying the Long O in their reading - Writing their answers to questions regarding the paragraph - Identifying additional Long O words in sentences using a word bank - Matching words with pictures - Spinning a paperclip activity where students will write the word with the Long O sound - and lastly a fun wordsearch with variations of Long O words. These activities are for each long vowel words that are focused on the Long O sounds so there are plenty of opportunities for students to practice their comprehension reading skills and phonic sounds. Students will practice the following Long O Word sounds: O_E, OA, OW, OE, and OUGH. Teachers can use this resource in whole group, individually with students, students can practice with each other in centers, or these worksheets can be assigned as homework. Worksheets are also differentiated for each Long O sounds for all young learners which makes it perfect for all 1st - 2nd graders. A total of 31 pages full of reading and phonic activities. Along with reading and writing, there are matching, cutting, and pasting activities.
