Prefix Under Sentence Reading Rings

Practice reading words with the prefix UNDER- with these sentence reading rings. Students will read words with the prefix under- in the context of sentences. Each card also includes a bold and colorful image to illustrate each sentence and to help students to learn the meanings of each word. What is Included: This resource includes one reading ring activity for the prefix under. There are cards each featuring a different word with the prefix under, with a sentence using the word in context and an image to illustrate that sentence. When to Use Early Finishers - If students finish their work early, they can use these reading rings for extra practice. Small Group Work - Teachers can use these reading rings to target small groups of students who need more practice reading words with prefixes. Independent Practice - Students can work independently at their desks to read this set of prefix cards. Morning Work - Students can read and review this reading ring for morning work as their classmates arrive to class. How to Make: Teachers will print out the pages and cut each card apart. Once cut apart, the teacher can choose to laminate the cards for durability. Then, use a hole punch to punch a hole in the top left corner of the card. Place the cards on a ring to create your reading ring, making sure the cover card is on top. Skills Assessed: These reading rings help with identifying words with prefixes These reading rings help with learning the meaning of prefixes These reading rings help students learn how prefixes change the meaning of words. There are three different fluency practice pages that all focus on learning to spell and read the target sight word in context. Allowing students to practice the sight word in context allows students to connect the words meaning and grammatical usage to help gain a greater understanding of the target word. Each passage repeats the target word multiple times for repeated practice with the word. Students will practice reading, writing, reading comprehension, and spelling high frequency words with these fluency pages. They can then think about a more positive thoughts they could have had and how that may have changed their reactions and emotions. Changing how you think about a situation can lead to more positive thinking and emotions through a process called cognitive restructuring. Here's how it works: 1) Identifying negative thoughts: The first step is to become aware of your negative or distorted thoughts about a situation. These thoughts are often automatic and may involve cognitive distortions such as catastrophizing, overgeneralization, or personalization. 2) Examining evidence: Once you've identified the negative thoughts, you can challenge them by examining the evidence supporting or contradicting them. Look for alternative explanations or more balanced perspectives. 3) Generating alternative thoughts: Generate alternative, more realistic, and positive thoughts related to the situation. These new thoughts should be based on evidence and provide a more balanced view of the situation. For example, if your negative thought is "I always fail at everything," a more balanced alternative thought could be "I have had successes in the past, and this setback does not define my abilities." 4) Evaluating the impact: Reflect on how adopting these new thoughts might change your emotions and overall outlook. Consider the potential positive outcomes or shifts in perspective that may result from the new way of thinking. 5) Practicing and reinforcing new thoughts: Actively replace negative thoughts with the more positive and realistic thoughts you've identified. This process requires practice and repetition to strengthen the new cognitive patterns. Over time, it becomes more automatic and natural. By engaging in cognitive restructuring, you can gradually shift your thinking patterns, leading to more positive thoughts and emotions. By challenging negative thoughts and replacing them with more accurate and constructive ones, you can reduce negative emotions such as anxiety, sadness, or anger, and cultivate more positive emotions like optimism, self-confidence, and resilience. This change in thinking can have a profound impact on your overall well-being and how you perceive and respond to various situations in your life.
