The first page will provide students with a visual example for how to correctly implement this strategy. Students will practice with drawing the lower number (with one color) and then counting up to the starting number (with a different color). The number of circles they drew with the second color will give them the difference or the answer to their subtraction problem. On the last two pages, students will cut out the circles at the bottom of the pages and use these circles in their ten frame to find the differences for each equation. This is a Learning Compound Words Printable. It can serve as a great resource if you are introducing or reviewing compound words. There are 5 pages included. On the first 4 pages, there are 3 rows on each page. Each row features two pictures to represent adding two words that will equal a compound word. The last page will have the pictures that are meant to serve as the compound word "answers" in which students will paste in the correct boxes. The words are as follows: 1. arm + chair = armchair 2. basket + ball - basketball 3. tooth + brush = toothbrush 4. pan + cake = pancake 5. butter + fly = butterfly 6. ear + ring = earring 7. fire + man = fireman 8. tree + house = treehouse 9. jelly + fish = jellyfish 10. mail + box = mailbox 11. snow + man = snowman 12. rain + bow = rainbow Printing and laminating these pages will be great to utilize them as a reusable small group or center activity.
