AI Phonics Worksheets: 5 FREE!
Phonics, Language Development, ELA, Spelling, Special Education Needs (SEN), Special Resources, Kindergarten, Grade 1, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

5 FREE AI Phonics Worksheets — For 5–6-Year-Olds and ESL/EFL Learners Teaching phonics effectively doesn't have to mean hours of preparation. These ready-to-use worksheets have been designed with busy parents and teachers in mind — clear, purposeful, and straightforward to pick up and use from the first session. This free sample pack contains five worksheets focusing on the CK spelling pattern. While the sound itself is introduced early in most phonics programmes, these worksheets are pitched at a higher level — they expect more of the pupil. The activities are designed for children who are ready to work with greater independence, handle more on a page, and apply what they know rather than recognise it. That makes them equally well suited to higher-achieving five and six-year-olds and to older ESL and EFL learners working through English spelling conventions for the first time. Each worksheet has been carefully structured to build confidence and reinforce learning through focused reading and spelling practice, with some comprehension work included where appropriate. The clean, uncluttered layout keeps the emphasis on the sound and the task. Suitable for: Home educators Classroom teachers Tutors SEN teachers ESL and EFL teachers Working at grades: Year 1 / Grade 1 / Ages 5–6 (higher-achieving), and older ESL/EFL learners. Eco-friendly printing Black and white throughout, so printing costs stay low. These worksheets sit alongside any phonics programme you are already using. Whether you are following a school scheme, home educating, or supporting a learner with additional needs, they slot in without disrupting your existing approach. Collect the series! They can be found in Lilibette's Resources store. For fully differentiated lessons, see also our packs for less able/younger pupils! Reading Comprehension Passages Fiction Set 2 Snapshot Title: Title not stated Genre: Fiction (animal-themed short stories with skill pages) Subject: Reading Primary Topic: Animal stories for comprehension and literacy practice Estimated Guided Reading Level (A–Z): O What This Teaches Best Reading comprehension with short, engaging animal stories: Each passage centers on an animal-related situation and is followed by questions that point students back to key details. Responsible choices around animals: Characters learn boundaries and care (e.g., not feeding/petting a wild fawn; returning tadpoles to the pond; releasing butterflies after photographing them). Character feelings and motivations: Students can track how characters feel and why (excited, uneasy, frustrated, worried) and connect those feelings to actions and outcomes. Cause and effect + problem/solution: Stories show clear outcomes from decisions (escaped pheasants lead to chasing; fog blocks stargazing; feeding helps Allan pet a dolphin). Integrated skill practice (vocab, spelling, writing): Support pages include vocabulary matching, spelling tasks, short responses, and retelling. Note: one question page uses the name “Zelda” where the story uses “Zelma.” Learning Goals Students will recount the beginning, middle, and end of a selected story using details from the text. Students will describe characters’ feelings and motivations and cite what in the story shows them. Students will identify a problem and solution in a story and explain how the solution affects the ending.
