Each lesson focuses on a single topic so students don’t get lost. The writing is clear but never childish, making it perfect for grades two through five. Topics range from animals and science to history, inventions, and everyday things. No matter the level of the student, everyone should take away at least one new idea or fact from each lesson. This curriculum will encourage active learning for your students by transforming passive learning into a deep intellectual engagement through multi-perspective debate, policy creation, and ethical reasoning. Students will explore: The transition from the Kyoto Protocol to the Paris Agreement and the principle of Common But Differentiated Responsibilities (CBDR) Carbon pricing mechanisms (Carbon Tax vs. Cap and Trade), as well as the Social Cost of Carbon The ethics of geoengineering (Stratospheric Aerosol Injection [SAI], moral hazard, risks associated with unilateral use of SAI) Environmental justice, climate debt, and the Cobalt Paradox in developing countries Youth climate lawsuits, climate refugees and international law, methane agricultural policies, financing urban adaptation, and accountability for greenwashing Includes 10 high-level student worksheets with conceptual fill-in-the-blank (using a unique 7-underscore system), real-world case studies and hypothetical case studies, critical debate prompts, and challenging policy creation assignments for students. Encourages real critical thinking, systems analysis, and nuanced understanding of the trade-offs between enhancing developing countries. The Key Reasons Why Parents and Schools Appreciate It: Facilitates unbiased critical thinking instead of dogmatic, ideologically-based, practical-thinking-by-proxy students making arguments for and against competing choices (e.g., Growth vs. Fossil-Fuel Abolition; Independent Sovereign Nation vs. World Government; Technology as Hope or as a Curse). Extensive preparation for taking Advanced Placement tests; writing college level essays, debating other humans, as well as the development of well-thought-out arguments using established policies, and ethical reasoning based on sound ethical reasoning standards. A balanced view of the world; an honest consideration of the challenges facing developing nations, "Just Transition", climate liabilities, and the risk of neo-colonial influence in creating green supply chains. Teacher support that is broad in scope and purpose; includes teacher-oriented teacher guides, "look-for" answers for the teachers, pacing guides and strategies for differentiating instruction, visual aids to illustrate concepts, and techniques for managing classroom conversations. An exceedingly entertaining way to teach about Climate Change, as well as Science, by creating opportunities for students to compete with each other on an intellectual level, as opposed to being preached at. Reasons Why Parents and Schools Appreciate This System: The focus of this system is on skill building through the development of empathy & social awareness, rather than punishment. When discipline is replaced with proactive skill building, it empowers your child. This system is backed by neuroscientific research on how children develop. Many traditional methods do not function well because they do not work with how the brain develops, so this system is based on good science. Through the principle of the "ripple effect", children will develop a better understanding of how their behaviour affects not only themselves but also family & friends. This is not just a worksheet. This system includes the teacher's guide, activities for students, visual aids and an answer key, so you can spend more time teaching & less time preparing. The system will validate the feelings and impulses of a child ("Your body was telling you to grab") and provide the child with tangible tools to make a better choice, allowing him/her to become an active architect of his/her own success. Intended Audience: The target audience is educators and support personnel who work with children in grades K-3, as well as parents who want to support their child at home. The way that children in this age group typically learn and behave, make it difficult for them to develop effective self-regulation skills, therefore parents and professionals need additional support in teaching these skills. The explicit text indicates a K-3 focus (ages 5-9) and the type of behavioral problems addressed in this resource; behaviors classified as K-3 students in the general education classroom include: * K-3 General Education (all K-3 classes) * K-3 Special Education teachers who assist students with ADHD, ASD and/or other executive functioning deficits * School-based counselors, social workers and school psychologists providing small group and individual intervention * Behavior interventionists and BCBAs * Proactive parents wanting to implement strategies at home to help their child gain self-regulation skills Copyright and Terms of Use: The author, Syed Hammad Rizvi, has copyrighted this resource for your sole enjoyment in the classroom and at home. Spelling & Vocabulary Each passage introduces students to useful words and phrases appropriate for Grades 4–5. To help build confidence and word knowledge, every lesson includes a spelling or vocabulary activity. Writing Prompts Each lesson includes a writing activity that extends the ideas, themes, or topics explored in the passage. Students are encouraged to write in a variety of formats, with prompts providing helpful guidance and ideas to get them started. Writing tasks vary throughout the collection and may include creative writing, research activities, personal responses, poetry, opinion writing, and other engaging assignments. Full Answer Keys Complete answer keys and sample responses are included with every lesson, making planning and marking quicker and easier. Reading comprehension answers include evidence and support from the text, while math-based questions show the relevant working where appropriate. The answer keys are designed primarily for teachers but can also be shared with students when needed. Just for Fun Each lesson finishes with an optional extension activity called Just for Fun . These bonus activities provide an enjoyable way to extend learning beyond the main lesson and often encourage creativity, discussion, or independent thinking. They are completely optional, giving you the flexibility to use the activities that best suit your students and classroom needs.
